The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 139. D’Arcy

Chapter 139: 139. D’Arcy

Jael knew exactly why he passed out and was quite surprised that’s all that happened. Aside from the fact that he bled, he also put a lot of strain on his body.

From running to fighting the first Paler, then evading all the attacks of the second Paler with Mauve in his arms and the run here. He couldn’t complain that his body felt this heavy.

Jael slowly raised his head to look at Kieran and as if he was being punished, he gulped the contents with a sour expression. After drinking, he tossed the bag to the ground and wiped his mouth.

He would probably still feel this shitty for about a day or two but at least, he wasn’t in that much pain. His arm should heal soon.

He was about to get out of bed but Kieran stopped him. "Your feet, Sire. You have tiny thorns in them, let me remove them."

Jael glared at him. "You can remove them after I have seen her."

Kieran shook his head, "It’s best to leave her alone. Please, Sire."

Jael groaned, "What if she wakes up?" He asked stiffly.

"There is a guard stationed just outside the door. He is to inform me as soon as he hears the slightest of noises. Please, sire. I don’t have anything to help her current state if she wakes up. I will make sure to check on her regularly."

Jael sighed and laid back on the bed, trying to bully his way to try to see her wouldn’t help her situation. The most important thing was to get a human physician.

There were at least six hours before dawn, that was enough to get out of the Nolands and if they leave now, they might just make it back by dawn in two days. That was too long but what other choice did he have?

Jael cursed as the knife dug into his sole. "Are you trying to cut out my feet?" Jael asked, glaring at him.

"I don’t know what you were thinking, Sire, running without shoes on."

Jael shrugged, "They were a hassle. Besides, I will be healed in no time."

"If you say so," Kieran said and wiped the knife. He placed it on the table and picked a needle.

Jael’s eyes widened, "What’s that for?" He asked.

"There are tinier pieces of wood. The fact that you can’t feel them in your feet is worrisome." Kieran blinked as he stared hard at Jael.

Jael didn’t care about his feet, all he could think about was what he could possibly do to help Mauve’s situation. Getting the physician was a priority.

Jael suddenly sat upright, "How long was I out?"

Kieran frowned, "Is something wrong? About an hour."

"Damon isn’t here yet?" Jael frowned, wondering if Damon would know to come here.

"No, only a strange guard saying he is Lord Levaton’s servant." Kieran explained and gently pushed Jael back down.

"Why didn’t you tell me?" He asked.

"Because he didn’t stay. He just wanted to confirm if you got here safely and was gone almost immediately."

"I see," Jael said and his shoulder relaxed. He hoped Damon was okay but the number of guards should have been more than enough for the Palers.

"What happened, Sire? You only told me a Paler attacked but I don’t see you being careless enough to let it reach the human."

Jael sighed, he should have never let her leave the castle. "There were two Palers, Kieran."

"What?"

"Ahhh!" Jael shouted as Kieran drove the needle deep into his foot. "That’s enough meddling!" He yelled and pulled his feet away. He ripped the needle out of his foot, blood dropped as he placed his foot on the floor.

"Sire, be mindful of these things." Kieran berated.

"Get me a pen and paper, Kieran." His voice sounded serious.

Kieran stopped in his tracks and bowed, "Yes Sire." He turned around and left the room.

Jael placed the bloodied needle on the table. He needed to write a letter. He didn’t know who was the best physician but at least Evan would know that.

Kieran brought him a quill and a piece of paper. Jael slowly raised his head to look at Kieran. "I said a pen!"

"Isn’t the letter for a human?" Kieran asked with a frown.

"Yes but the letter is of grave importance." Jael said. "We don’t have much time, Kieran. Get me the pen."

Kieran rushed out and came back in less than two minutes. Jael sat by the table and began to write the letter. He didn’t even flinch as the needle pierced his thumb.

Dear King Evan Grey,

He winced at this words but he was ready to play to the polite card to get Mauve the best treatment there was and the faster this could be done the better.

Your daughter was gravely injured and I require your best physician to make sure she recovers swiftly. I have sent my best guards to ensure that the journey is as swift as possible.

Jael D’Arcy Valdic

A knock echoed in the room as Jael wrote the last part of the letter. Kieran walked to the door and open it. The door revealed a servant with her head bent. "Damon is here and the guard from Lord Levaton is also here. He said his name is Zane."

"Sent them both up!" Kieran ordered. The servant bowed and walked away. Kieran walked into the house and opened his mouth to speak but Jael interrupted him.

"I heard, just in time too. I need your best guards. At least three of them. I can’t afford to be careless again."

A loud knock drew their attention to the door and Kieran walked to the door again and threw it open. "Lord Kieran," Zane and Damon said simultaneously as they bowed.

"Come in," Kieran ordered.

"Sire," they both bowed as they walked in.

"We don’t have time for this," Jael said and got to his feet holding the letter. "Do you think you can travel, Damon?" Jael asked, with a piercing stare.
