Chapter 100. Anything You Need

Chapter 100: 100. Anything You Need

"As soon as the party is over, I want you out of here, if you’re not I will assume you want me to attack you with everything I have got."

Mauve could feel tears falling down her face. She wasn’t in much pain, it was the fear that was making her cry. She sniffled and buried her head in Jael’s shoulders.

"Yes, sire," Danag said and approached Seraphino who was still bent forward.

"Don’t touch me with your vile hands," he stood upright. "I guess I will keep this as a reminder."

"Danag, I won’t be in the dining hall for the second meal. I will have it here."

"Yes, Sire," Danag replied and bowed.

Mauve heard the door close and slowly raised her head from his shoulders. She looked up to see him staring hard at her. He wiped the tears from her face.

"Are you alright?" He asked softly, every hint of anger gone. It was hard to believe that just a couple of seconds ago, he had been giving such strict orders.

She nodded. She was really fine, as soon as he appeared all the fear had left her body and all that was left was the crushing relief.

"Did he hurt you?"

She nodded and showed him the back of her palm. It was still bleeding. Jael blinked and looked at her neck. There were stains of blood but her neck wasn’t bleeding.

"He didn’t bite your neck?" He asked.

"He wanted to but then I moved my hand to stop him and he bit into my hand instead."

"This looks deep, at least he didn’t crush any bone." He said and ripped his shirt.

"You don’t have to rip your shirt." She called out.

"I have to stop the bleeding." He said and carefully wrapped her hand. "Is it too tight?"

Mauve shook her head. He brought his head down and kissed her, Mauve kissed him back. She felt him push her up against his body.

She yelped as he lifted her off her feet and took her to the bed. He laid her on the bed and slid in next to her. She laid her head on his chest and he held her tightly.

"Does your tummy still hurt?" He asked.

She shook her head, "It stopped hurting since last night."

"How long does it last?" He asked.

"About three days, sometimes four."

"And this happens, how often?"

"Every month. Do female vampires never have it?" She asked, raising her head to look up at him.

Jael shook his head, "Not that I know of."

"Must be nice," she mumbled.

"Is being stuck here comfortable?"

"It’s not bad."

"I didn’t want you to go out to avoid a situation like this. Being the only human among vampires, it was best not to tempt anyone. I should have calculated the chance of this happening."

"It is fine, I am fine."

"I will put a guard in front of your room."

"I don’t think there is any need to make such a drastic decision."

"It’s not drastic, I should have done it the first night."

He ran his hand through her hair and leaned forward to kiss her forehead.

"Have most of the guests arrived?" She asked, trying to steer his mind from the situation.

"No, we should expect more Lords before the night is over."

"Isn’t attending the second meal important?" She asked, she didn’t want to hold him back from anything.

"Maybe but they will fare without me. The party isn’t until tomorrow night, I am sure they can manage without my presence for one meal."

"Alright."

"Did Mill bring you the materials?"

Mauve nodded, she had completely forgotten about it. She studied her hand, there was no way she could write with her palm like this. Her handwriting was already bad before the incident, now it would be just terrible.

"Did you finish writing the letter?" He asked, his hand movement on her hair did not stop and Mauve found herself leaning into his hands.

"I barely started before I was interrupted."

She felt him stiffen up and instantly regretted the last part even if she had enough time, she knew she wouldn’t have finished the letter.

"Do you think you can write with your hand like that?"

Mauve shook her head without hesitation. She needed help. "I don’t think so," she mumbled softly, so she wouldn’t sound too eager.

"I will send Erick up after the second meal. He would help you craft the letter."

"Erick?" Mauve cried in horror.

"Is something wrong?" He asked.

"No, I am just wondering if he would help me."

"Yes, he will. It is an important letter, he will do a much better job than Danag or Damon and Mill is too busy to help you. You want it sent out as soon as possible, right?"

She nodded.

"Good, just tell him what you want and he will write it."

"Okay," she said glumly. She didn’t like this offer but it was better than having to write it herself.

"I know you would have liked to write it yourself."

Mauve simply nodded because if she spoke, he would know that she was lying. She had better destroyed the draft before someone saw the hideous letter.

"Let me see your hand," he said and she stretched out her wrapped hand to him.

He simply trailed with his finger without saying a word then he dropped it onto his chest.

"Is there anything that you need?" He asked.

She smiled to herself, it was always nice to have him worry about her. "Some games would be nice. Do you have any board games?"

He frowned, "I am not sure but I can always get them for you."

"Okay," she chuckled and buried her face into his chest.

"Anything else?"

She shook her head, "Nothing that I can think of right now."

"When you do, don’t hesitate to let me know."

"I won’t," she mumbled and snuggled closer to him.
