Chapter 365: Her Firstborn Daughter
Raine and Nathan were both quiet as they went back to their table. Raine felt very weak as she gently caressed her tummy and inwardly mused, ’Why did you do that Aire?’ She was genuinely scared of the impact Aire’s reckless action caused during her time travel in this timeline.
She felt Nathan squeeze her hand which brought her attention to him. Nathan gave her a reassuring smile as he whispered, "Everything will be alright."
Raine nodded but she knew Nathan was also worried like her. Right now they couldn’t do anything but wait for Aire to be born. Because of what happened, Raine and Nathan ended up having to leave the party sooner than expected.
As soon as they reached their home, Draki greeted them with a howl. Raine stroked the wolf’s fur and murmured, "Why is Aire so stubborn Draki? She went behind our backs and altered an event here."
"Relax now, my sweet vixen. Let’s just rest today. I will go to Carlos tomorrow and ask more about the consequences of altering the past using Voyager’s Watch. You can come with me if you want to. Don’t worry, I will do everything in my power to protect our daughter and not let her suffer the corresponding punishment in the future," Nathan convinced, to which Raine weakly nodded.
Despite all the reassurance, the weariness in her heart and mind remained.

Morning came and as planned, Raine and Nathan prepared themselves and went to see Carlos the moment they finished having breakfast with Lark and Mara.
"Can I come too?" Mara asked when she found out that the couple would visit Carlos.
"Right, I promised I would introduce you to Carlos. I’m sorry dear it slipped my mind but yes sure you can come with us..." Raine agreed.
The three soon went out and hit the road to Mirage Historian’s house. Carlos was already at the door waiting for them the moment they arrived and went out of the car.
"It’s been a while," the older man commented when he saw Raine and Nathan. Then his eyes shifted to Mara as he humorously greeted, "Ah, the new member... Welcome to the chaotic world of the Mirage Group.
Carlos walked inside and led them to his living room. "Please sit," he gestured to the three as he poured them cups of tea.
"It’s about Aire..." Nathan started.
Carlos nodded as he hummed and said, "I know. Your little girl didn’t tell you the truth about why she came here from the future. I had witnessed everything and already written it in the Mirage journal. Like I always say, there’s a reason and a purpose behind everything that’s been happening around us. What Aire did was pre-determined by fate."
"I don’t care about that pre-determined thing Carlos, what we want is how we can break the corresponding ordeal Aire has to face in the future because of what she did?" Raine impatiently interrupted. She was ready to do anything to ensure the safety of her unborn child.
Carlos took a deep and loud breath before he spoke, "There’s nothing you two can do because it’s up to Aire herself to deal with what she has caused. It’s only her who can solve her ordeal and succeed it..."
Obviously, their visit with Carlos was not as helpful as they hoped it would be. Raine couldn’t hide the dismay plastered all over her face. Carlos let out another sigh as he murmured, "As you know, I cannot and I’m not allowed to disclose the whole details about it but if this will somehow help you guys ease the worry building inside your hearts for your daughter then let me say this..."
Raine keenly stared at the Historian, waiting for his next words...
"Nothing bad will happen to Aire, although she will eventually face a lot of storms ahead, she will definitely succeed them so be at ease..." the older man reassured with a smile, making Raine pout.
"That’s too general but I’m still glad. As long as my daughter will succeed and be safe then that’s all I can ask for...." Raine murmured with a relieved sigh. She would make sure that she would be with AIre along the way in the future.
"So he really has the ability to see the present and the future but he’s only allowed to tell limited details? What if someone found out about it and threatened you to use his abilities to their advantage?" Mia curiously asked as she stared at Carlos with narrowed eyes.
Carlos smiled at his sister and said, "I would rather be killed than say what is forbidden. Those who have bad intentions towards a Mirage Historian will face great consequences. They will be cursed beyond recognition..."
Raine and Nathan remained silent and watched Mara fire Carlos with a lot of questions. Raine was gently caressing her tummy when she was starting to feel weird out of nowhere. There were some contractions that were tolerable at first but gradually became so painful that she winced.
"What’s wrong?" Nathan asked.
"Ahhh, it hurts! I think Aire wants to come out soon," she breathed, trying to bear the pain. Right, she just reached nine months of pregnancy and the doctor told her that she could give birth within this month on any particular date.
"Oh my God sis, your water just broke!" Mara gasped and Raine frowned as she followed Mara’s gaze.
Nathan quickly moved and helped her inside the car with Mara. He drove as fast as he could while Raine bit her lower lip to stop herself from screaming from the pain.
"Damn! I should have simply agreed and let my doctor perform a cesarean section instead!" Raine grunted. But then again she wanted to give birth naturally. She wanted to experience labour just like other women since it was her first baby.
"It’s not too late, we can still request her to perform a cesarean section instead," Nathan commented on the sidelines.
"No! I can and will do this..." Raine firmly stated. They soon arrived at the hospital and Raine was instantly rushed inside the delivery room where both Nathan and Mara were allowed to accompany her.
Nathan held her hand as he encouraged Raine together with her doctor and the nurses, "Push... Push harder!"
"You can do it, my sweet vixen, just a little more," Nathan comforted.
"Why do men have it so easy?!! Simply making a baby but not experiencing the actual pain of delivering one..." Raine grunted as her grip on Nathan’s hand tightened when another wave of contraction occurred.
"Arghhhh!"
"You’re right sis. Not only that, they don’t even have to carry the baby for 9 months!" Mara commented, feeling bad about Raine’s suffering.
"YOU! You should really treat my sister well and give her the best! What she’s going through looks so tough so make sure you don’t dare treat her any less in the future!" Mara suddenly threatened Nathan.
Oh, that scene was so hilarious that Raine couldn’t help but chuckle quickly followed by another painful cry as she pushed harder.
"Almost there, Raine... More! Push harder!" the doctor instructed and soon a loud cry of a baby girl resonated in all corners of the delivery room. Raine was crying with joy hearing Aire’s wonderful voice. Finally... her firstborn daughter came into this world.
