Chapter 362: Big Enough to Pop

The days passed by so quickly, and soon weeks turned into months as life went on. All throughout this time, Raine couldn’t ask for anything more with how smoothly things went in her life.

She was already in her eighth month of pregnancy, and her tummy was getting large enough to start hindering her movements. She didn’t mind it though. Before, she would never even imagine that this kind of life would possible for her, what with the upbringing that she had experienced. She basically grew up with one goal in mind, and that was to kill monsters and obey her father Marcus at all times.

She smiled as she put the meals she prepared for Nathan inside each of their respective lunch boxes. Well, she didn’t exactly cook the meal since she wasn’t really good with it, but she had helped her father with cutting up the meat and vegetables... At the very least, she was good enough with knives to help in that part of the cooking process.

"Do you want me to drive you?" Lark asked her.

"Alright..." she answered with a smile.

They soon left as they headed their way to the Yue Group Building so that Raine could have lunch with Nathan. Inside the car, she smiled as she opened up the window to feel the cold breeze coming from outside. It was winter already, and the snow falling outside looked wonderful as it blanketed the world white with its cold beauty.

"Close the window, daughter. You might catch a cold," Lark reminded.

Ah, how Raine would’ve loved to think that it was her father being thoughtful of her, but in reality, she knew that Lark had simply studied up enough on how to be a good father to her and Mara. Thus, his actions were all based on what he had learned. He simply applied them, not because of his own emotions for them as a father, but because it was expected of him to do so.

"Alright, Dad," Raine politely replied before she obediently obeyed her father. It was common sense anyway. Being pregnant, she wouldn’t want to catch a cold.

"Any words for your sister?" Lark asked.

Right, her father also brought his own lunch boxes so he could have lunch with Mara who was currently busy working at the White House. Yes... Mara managed to get close enough to Chad who as expected won the Presidency and Mara was now closely working with him as his personal assistant and secretary!

"Did you at least call her first and inform her that you were planning on bringing her lunch?" Raine chuckled. "You do know that she currently only has one goal in entering the President’s office, right? She’ll try and take every opportunity she gets to stick close with the President, unless, of course, you inform her in advance to make time for you..."

Lark frowned as he mumbled, "I simply thought it would be nice to give her a surprise visit like this." After a moment, he then smiled as he nodded, "You’re right, I should call her. But for now, let me drop you off at the Yue Group building first."

Before long, they soon reached their destination, and Raine promptly got out of the car with her lunchbox tucked inside a small bag. Walking inside, all the employees she passed by the hallway greeted her as she walked straight to the President’s elevator, going up to Nathan’s floor and office. Making her way inside, she smiled as she saw him wearing his casual office attire as he seemingly went over some documents.

"Ah... that pleasing scent," Nathan commented as soon as her scent reached him. In that instant, he put down the document he was reading as he got up off his chair to greet her with a warm embrace and loving kiss.

"This is why I love bringing you your meals," Raine giggled with the sweetest smile on her face. As of now, kissing was becoming more and more of an awkward affair due to how big her baby bump was getting. To go around this, Nathan would usually have to position himself at her side, where he would gently pull her neck in and guide her face to his to give her a more passionate kiss.

"And I would always anticipate your arrival, my sweet vixen," Nathan murmured as soon as he released her lips from their loving union.

Raine chuckled at the compliment as she instantly pulled Nathan down to sit with her on the couch. She then pulled out the lunchboxes and spread them out on the table, making it so that the two of them could eat together.

"By the way, I’m going to start letting Mara hunt," Raine informed him. "Father will be going with her at least, so that will make me feel at ease."

"You do know that you’re worrying too much when you already witnessed her capabilities during her training," Nathan chuckled. "And that’s not to mention how you practically sicced rogue werewolves at her during her test."

Raine pouted. "I just can’t help it. It hasn’t even been a year since the two of us got together like this, but at least I know that I shouldn’t hold her back," she sighed. "It’s honestly frustrating, but at the same time, I’m also starting to look forward to the time when the two of us can finally work and hunt together."

A beat passed, and upon hearing no response from her husband, Raine turned to him only to find him staring lovingly at her. She frowned as she asked, "What?"

Instead of directly replying, Nathan lovingly smiled at her, and, with his sparking eyes, whispered, "You’re glowing, my sweet vixen. It’s blinding..."

Raine laughed and humorously said, "How about my body then? Is it still glowing in your eyes?"

Nathan let out a long deep sigh before he grabbed Raine’s hand and led it to his groin. "Can you feel it? That’s how I react to seeing your body."

Raine didn’t know how to respond to that bold declaration. Before she could even speak, Nathan had already pressed the intercom and said, "I don’t want anyone to disturb me until I call you back, or else you two are dead." He then followed it up by him instructing the virtual assistant in his office. "Locked the door."

Raine rapidly blinked at her husband. She couldn’t believe how he just threatened those two women like that. "Goodness, is being terrified of me not enough for them that you also have to torture those two women?" she scolded him with raised brows. "I’m telling you, those two are the best in the business, and we can’t really find a more competitive and hardworking secretary and executive assistant than those two."

"It’s fine. Besides, I think they’re already used to you screaming at them that they don’t even flinch at my words anymore," Nathan chuckled. "So, I assume that your way of threatening them before is scarier than mine? Am I right, my sweet vixen?"

Opening her mouth, Raine was about to defend herself only for her words to be muffled due to Nathan having already leaned in closer and ravished her lips... Truly, this husband of hers was unquenchable even though she was already big enough to pop!
