Chapter 361: The Simple Things
Raine spent the entirety of her day with Mara. Spending time with one another, she discovered that both of them had a lot of things in common except for the fact that she was a lot more private and introverted person compared to Mara. They talked about a lot of things, and she answered all of Mara’s questions whenever they came up.
They enjoyed their time together so much that both of them didn’t even notice the hours passing by. Their father would occasionally check on them from time to time throughout it all, asking if they wanted some snacks or anything else while they talked.
"Dad is like a programmed robot in human skin," Mara couldn’t help but comment with a sigh. "I feel sad seeing him acting like that."
"It couldn’t be helped because of the curse, unfortunately," Raine sighed. "Tomorrow, I’ll visit the Mirage Historian Carlos and see if he knows something about this curse. You can come with me as well just so that I can introduce you to him. You might like him. He’s a man who knows almost everything because of his gift of vision."
Seeing Mara nod, Raine then moved to face her twin on the couch as she comfortably sat with her legs crossed together while hugging a very fluffy pillow.
"So tell me... I want to know everything about you and Chad," Raine inquisitively began. "I feel like he’s someone special to you. And honestly, I know nothing about you two except for the fact that Chad was the one who stayed with you for two years in that private facility on Keira’s Island..."
Upon hearing her twin’s question, Mara began blushing up a storm. Immediately, Raine could absolutely tell that there was indeed something going on between her twin and Chad even after all these years of not seeing each other.
Cornered, Mara began detailing her story to Raine, starting from all her experiences on that isolated island, all the way to her tagging along with Keira and Zach once the two were rescued.
"John is Keira’s bodyguard, who she assigned to stay with me and oversee my rehabilitation for those two years," Mara stated. "For those two years, I trusted no one else but him..."
Listening to Mara speak, Raine could see the sparkles of love flashing along her sister’s eyes whenever he spoke of the man. Ah, as much as she wanted to punch Chad for making her sister cry, Raine fully understood why he left her sister just like that.
Still, things had already calmed down the moment Chad took charge of the Earth Clan, Though him being the president of the whole country should he win would be another story entirely. So as much as she wanted to say otherwise, she couldn’t fully state that life would be much easier now for Chad than ever before.
"Hmm... I really believe that the two of us are destined for each other," Mara firmly stated, her eyes still sparkling with obvious admiration. "This time, I’ll make sure that he won’t escape my grasp!"
Raine chuckled. Truly, her twin was just adorable whenever she was this animated.
"Lunch is ready, you two. Come and let’s eat..." their father called out, interrupting Raine from teasing Mara about her constantly showing how head over heels she was with Chad.
"Coming, Dad," Raine answered.
Without a word, she and Mara got up, and she couldn’t help but feel good inside with the simple things in life that she now had. Having each other like this... It was amazing.

Meanwhile, inside the Yue Building in his personal space, Nathan sat as the new Chairman of the group. Unfortunately, that also meant more work, and he couldn’t help but frown as he looked at the pile of papers on his table that needed his signature.
He massaged his nape as he heaved out a long deep sigh. He then stared at his Executive Assistant, who simply gave him an awkward smile. "I already checked all of them, Sir. They’re all of the pending documents that Madame Raine had held off on signing since she was too busy to attend to them," she meekly explained. "She told me that you’ll take over eventually and that you’ll be the one to sign them from now on..."
Sighing, Nathan dismissed the poor assistant before grabbing the top document and signing them all one by one. Seeing this now, it was definitely a good decision to drop the Convel Society, or else Nathan would end up dying because of too much work. This was simply the business Group of the Clan, and later, he still had a lot of things waiting for him inside the Moon Clan Territory itself.
Working nonstop, the hours passed by so quickly, and he was glad that Kiran visited him in his office to have a break. Taking the excuse, Nathan got up from his chair and stretched his back a bit.
"Look at you being all busy. And still, you offered to manage the Umbra Group?" Kiran chuckled. "Your wife will definitely divorce you because of you marrying your work instead of her."
He then comfortably sat on the nearby couch and said, "They’re rushing Davin’s wedding. Ah, I still can’t believe that Davin, the unbothered vampire, would agree to this kind of arrangement. Have you seen that Princess Luna already? Do you think Davin got smitten by her beauty?"
Getting no reply, for now, Kiran shook his head as he added, "I kind of doubt it though. Davin wouldn’t be the type of person who would be easily swayed by beauty or concern himself with matters like this. I still don’t get why he would agree to that marriage and shoulder the responsibility of the Sun Clan when he already has a pretty comfortable set-up here in the Moon Clan with you..."
Seeing that his friend had finished monologuing, Nathan casually walked towards Kiran and sat on the opposite side of him. He then pressed a button on the intercom to ask his secretary for two cups of coffee.
Letting out a long sigh, he looked at Kiran with a shrug. "Maybe Davin just came to that point in life were doing something meaningful tickled his fancy instead of him hiding in his sanctuary like usual..." he nonchalantly commented. "Whatever his reasons were, I think it’s good that he’s willing to help this Clan for the better..."
If Nathan was being honest, he was just grateful that Davin didn’t let him handle Umbra as well, or else Kiran’s words would’ve come true. He wouldn’t want to jeopardize his quality time with his pregnant wife just to work it all away.
Silence reigned between them, and Nathan stared at Kiran with a bit more intensity than usual...
"What?!" Kiran questioned as soon as he noticed Nathan’s eyes on him.
Nathan’s lips stretched wide as he said, "Since you’re here... How about you help me with signing these documents?"
Kiran’s face fell as he quickly complained, "Hey!!! You and Davin should’ve let me graduate from forging both of your signatures! How could the two of you always make me do this?!"
Nathan chuckled and offered, "I’ll ask Raine to introduce you to someone gorgeous in her Clan if you help me."
"Fine! Where are the documents that I need to sign?!" Kiran scoffed.
Nathan pointed to his desk and said, "Suit yourself..."
He inwardly smirked. This kind of offer never grew old on Kiran... His weakness for beautiful and gorgeous women was truly a lifesaver for him and Davin!
