Chapter 357: My Daughters

The next morning, both Mara and Raine woke up early even despite both of them being deprived of enough sleep due to spending the night talking about a lot of things. It was worth it, however, so they didn’t really mind.

"Good morning, Sister," Mara greeted Raine with a smile. "How about you practice calling me Big Sis today?" Technically, she was indeed the first one to come out from their mother, so she had the right to ask her sister of such.

Instead of replying, Raine simply chuckled and stuck her tongue out at Mara before quickly getting out of bed. "Technically, both of us are still twenty-eight!" she retorted with a laugh. "If you want that to happen, you should change the details on your birth certificate. They predicted your age wrong. Gosh, twenty-five? Is that a joke?!"

Mara frowned as she mumbled, "I look younger than my age. Even Keira thought that I was younger than her." She sighed, "Even now, I look younger than you. I’m like your little sister."

Well, that was true enough, seeing as Mara had that youthful and innocent aura on her. Staying on that isolated island probably preserved her youth more? Still, they were twins, so she said, "Ah, but you need to set the record straight. I’ll have it all arranged."

She then added, "Also, it’ll be better if you used your real surname now, Mara Tai, instead of Mara Chan..."

"Hmm... but that might complicate things," Mara pondered aloud. "I mean, Keira might question me about why I’m using Tai while you use Yao as a surname. Plus, they know you as Candice Yao..."

"Hmm, right. So you’ll just have to disguise yourself then..." Raine hummed in thought. "Mara Yao... That would be your cover name, but we’ll still register your real identity as Mara Tai."

"Gosh, what a complicated origin!" Mara gasped.

"Right?" Raine laughed. "Now go and get ready before heading straight to the dining area. You’ll have to meet our father too, remember?"

"Of course." Mara giddily nodded. "I’m so excited. I’ll get myself ready now. Ah, I’m feeling nervous all of a sudden!"

Raine amusedly shook her head. "I’ll go see my husband now," she announced with a wink before leaving Mara’s room. She had already told Mara about their father and his curse, so her twin was actually excited to do two things today; meet their father, and explore the past with Nathan’s help.

Ah, she was getting way too excited to tell Nathan how she had already told Mara everything, not to mention how her twin also had exceptional gifts and powers that might even eclipse her own. Well, she could always just telepathically relay the details, but she wanted to personally deliver the news to her husband. Plus, it was a reason to greet him with a good morning as well.

A naughty smile crept up on her face as she wondered whether her husband was still sleeping or not. The sun was yet to rise, so she bet he would probably still be on his bed.

Making her way to their room, as expected, Nathan was still on the bed sleeping. Seeing her opportunity, she quietly and carefully joined him, and Nathan was quick to instinctively cuddle her in his arms.

"My sweet vixen, do you think you can start sleeping here tonight?" Nathan murmured as he needily sniffed her hair. "Ah... I barely had any sleep. I’ve been missing you so badly, knowing that you’re just behind another door."

"Hmm... Patience, darling," Raine chuckled. "You do know that my sister and I have a lot of things to catch up on, and one of them is you showing us the past about our parents and how we got separated."

That instant, Nathan opened his eyes as he raised his head to look at Raine with a frown. Seeing the questioning look in his eyes, Raine told him how she had managed to tell Mara everything last night, including how her twin had also special abilities like hers.

"Are you sure about this? Last time, you didn’t want to do it since you said you don’t want to feel heartbroken," Nathan asked her.

"Yes. I want to see everything with Mara," Raine determinedly nodded. "I’m more confident now, seeing how eager my twin sister is to witness everything with her own eyes... I... I also want to see Mother in person one last time too..."

She had only seen her mother through portraits, and now she was ready to see her mother’s appearance in person; her gestures, her movements... her smiles...

"Alright then," Nathan huskily acquiesced with a murmur. "I guess Mara will be waiting for us, but do you think you can spare me a few minutes?"

Raine chuckled at his request. She could already feel his hardness poking at her, and without further adieu, Raine let her husband have his quick feast with her before the two of them hastily readied themselves, knowing that Mara would be waiting for them to arrive.

Well, that was what they thought, but as soon as they got dressed and Raine walked into Mara’s room, the latter was already gone. Left with no other choice, they both went straight to the dining area, and there the couple’s jaw dropped as they witnessed the scene before them.

There, Mara was hugging Lark tightly while crying hard. The latter, on the other hand, was, as usual, devoid of any emotion. He stood there like a pole, making Raine shake her head with a sigh. Mara was already aware of their father’s curse. She even vowed that she wouldn’t stop trying to find a cure or a solution to their father’s curse. Also, Raine had already informed their father about the situation beforehand, so he should be well aware of Mara’s existence and consequent arrival at the mansion.

"I wonder what’s going on inside Father’s head right now," Raine wondered as both she and Nathan stood still, waiting for Mara to calm herself down. As soon as her father met her gaze, Raine signaled for him to hug Mara back.

"This feels like Deja Vu," Raine chortled, recalling how Nathan also signaled to her last night to hug Mara back.

"I know, right?" Nathan whispered into her ear, making Raine chuckle.

"Oh, I’m so happy that you’re still alive, Father," Mara burst out in between sobs. "You even look so young and handsome after all this time!"

"It’s so nice to meet you as well, Mara," Lark nonchalantly replied, his voice sounding like a preprogrammed response. "You and Raine look the same; both stunning and gorgeous. My daughters are both good-looking. I’ll make sure to protect the two of you and be a good father."

With that, Mara ended up wailing some more as she sniffled, "I’ll definitely find a solution to that damn curse, Father!!!"
