Chapter 354: Don’t Hold Back

The days passed by so quickly. Before anybody knew it, Lyne and Boris had already gone on with their simple wedding inside the latter’s pack’s territory. It was a private affair, only attended by the wife’s aunt along with her closest friends.

It was sad that Lyne’s mother wasn’t present due to her condition requiring the older woman to stay in a facility that could take care of her special need but nevertheless, it was a very happy celebration, and Raine was happy that her friend had managed to overcome most of her deep-seated trauma and fears.

"I’m so proud of Lyne, darling. Boris is one lucky man..." Raine murmured as she stared at the photos of the newlyweds being happy together. "I’ll definitely decapitate him if he makes our Lyne cry though... assuming Lyne wouldn’t do the deed herself of course."

"My sweet vixen, I’m sure Boris knows what will happen to him if he ever screws up, so he won’t be stupid enough to make Lyne cry," Nathan chuckled. He then looked at his watch and mumbled, "Anyway, we have to get ready. We’ll be leaving soon."

"Alright then," Raine nodded. "Let’s bid farewell to the new couple."

As much as they would’ve liked to stay, they still had to pick up Raine’s sister at the airport tonight. The latter’s flight would arrive at around ten in the evening, and Raine was actually feeling nervous at the prospect of meeting her twin.

Extending courtesies, Nathan approached Boris, while Raine walked towards Lyne to give her friend a warm hug. "If you feel bored, know that you can always visit us, alright?"

"Absolutely," Lyne answered with a wide smile. "Good luck in meeting your twin. I’ll definitely pay you a visit soon to meet her as well once everything’s settled."

Raine nodded, and the two of them eventually parted ways. After saying their farewells to some of the guests who were still staying, Raine and Nathan then proceeded to get inside their car and onto the road. After a few moments of driving, they finally reached the airport. Seeing all the arriving planes landing on the tarmac, Raine couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous.

"Your hand’s getting cold," Nathan commented as soon he grabbed his wife’s hand while helping her out of the car.

"Yeah... Gosh, why am I feeling so weird?" Raine mumbled. "I feel both excited and nervous at the same time..."

Raine had wanted Mara to use their private jet, but her twin insisted on traveling on her own. As such, the former had no choice other than to simply give her the flight details she would need before telling her that she’ll be the one to arrange her pick-up at the airport.

And so, Raine and Nathan ended up waiting in the lounge area. "Her plane had already landed..." Nathan noted with a smile. At that instant, Raine stood up and waited for the passengers to get out from the exit door.

A few minutes later, passengers soon came out from the terminal. Keeping a close eye on the arrivals, Raine bit her lower lip as soon as she saw a familiar woman.

"She’s a total carbon copy of me," Raine murmured.

They were definitely identical twins at first glance, though one could easily spot some differences once they took a closer look between the two. Mara had short hair ending just above her shoulders, styled into a bob cut that gave her an adorable and wholesome kind of aura which was very different from the intimidating and devious aura Raine usually had.

Their eyes met, and Mara smiled widely, excitedly waving in her direction as she ran towards her.

"Oh my, look at you running at me like that!" Raine beamed. Not only was her twin running towards her, but she was practically shouting her name.

"Candice!!!" Mara yelled to her. Well, it wasn’t her real name, but it was needed to maintain her disguise. "Candice!"

Raine froze for a brief second before she blinked rapidly the moment Mara pounced on her. Her twin hugged her tightly, seemingly savoring her presence as soon as she reached her.

"My sister! Finally, I got to meet you! Oh, God, I’m so glad I can finally hug you like this," Mara burst out, sobbing with happiness as she hugged her. "Ah!!! I can finally hug you like this for the entire day!!! What took you so long to meet with me? Do you know how frustrated I was waiting for you to contact me?!!!"

Raine was caught off-guard hearing her twin’s words. Looking at Nathan, her husband only smiled widely at them, obviously enjoying the scene before him. He even signaled for her to hug Mara back.

’Oh, right...’

Taking her cue, Raine raised her arms and gently stroked Mara’s back. Her eyes were welling up too, but it would’ve been too out of her character for her to cry, so the expected tears just didn’t roll down her cheeks. Despite this, her heart was still overwhelmed with emotion. She couldn’t explain the feeling, but it was definitely something that she’d attribute to the good kind of feeling.

As if having run out of patience waiting for them to finish their moment, Nathan coughed, finally making his presence known to the two of them. Mara broke off her embrace, blinking at Nathan with curiosity.

"He’s my husband, Mara," Raine chuckled. "Meet Nathan Yue."

"Brother-in-law!" Mara suddenly burst out and, in that instant, hugged Nathan tightly right where he stood.

Raine chuckled at the heartwarming sight before her. Even though she hadn’t really met Mara, she actually had someone in the shadows protecting her sister the entire time, reporting everything that might be of importance to her at regular intervals.

Based on what she knew, Mara had a jolly and carefree personality. Maybe it was because Keira Chan was the one who took care of her sister, one who was also known for having that kind of character.

"We should go now. I bet you’re tired from the long flight," Raine smiled as she beckoned her twin. "Come."

At Raine’s suggestion, Mara finally released Nathan. She then nodded as she grabbed onto Raine’s hand, intertwining her fingers with hers before moving to hug her arm completely.

"Hmm... This feels so good already," Mara mumbled with a smile. "Tell me if I’m making you uncomfortable. I tend to be clingy at times, but if I’m getting annoying, I’ll tone myself down."

Oh, her twin was just too adorable. "It’s alright, Mara," Raine reassured her. "Shall we go then?"

Mara nodded, and the three of them promptly headed inside the car. Hitting the road, they were well on their way home when she suddenly spoke up.

"I’m hungry," Mara timidly announced. "Can we do a stopover?"

"Sure, Mara," Nathan replied.

Shortly after, they made a quick stopover in a cafe along the road. Entering the premises, Nathan went to the counter to place their orders.

On the table, Mara sat beside Raine and commented with a pout. "Sis, I didn’t know you were married. I thought you were still single... How come I wasn’t invited to the wedding?"

"Hmm, we just got married recently, Mara," Raine explained herself. "Honestly, I wanted to invite you too. It’s just that there were so many things that happened during that period, and I wasn’t even sure when to start telling you everything..."

Mara gave her an understanding smile before she then grabbed her hand and gently squeezed them. "Tell me everything, Sis... I want to know everything, and you can start off with how your life came to be like this," Mara insisted. "I really want to know more about you and our family. I want to know my origins and how I ended up on an isolated island when I was a baby... of why I had to live with the indigenous tribe there."

"Please... I want to know everything," Mara pleaded. "Don’t hold back. I’m prepared for it."
