Chapter 352: Easy to Tease
Chapter 352: Easy to Tease
Once more, Raine found herself alone as she lounged around the couch. Nathan had received an urgent call, so he immediately left together with Kiran and Davin to do whatever it was that they needed to do.
She was bored, and it wasn’t like Nathan’s office was far enough that she wouldn’t be able to visit, but she was kind of done being a nuisance in important affairs.
"Boorrreedd..."
Pouting to herself, Raine pulled out her phone and scrolled through her contacts. For now, she would have to settle for teasing Lyne. It seemed like her friend was still inside her bedroom, and a mischievous smile curved up on her face as she sent a message.
Well, that and she suddenly wanted to look for Draki for some reason. Ah well, at least she’ll have help in looking for him.
[Are you still sleeping? Is Boris still in your bedroom?]
Clicking on send, Raine then started counting down in her head... Surely, her ever industrious friend would come to her in three... two... one...
"Boss! Do you need me?"
Raine chuckled as she turned around, Lyne standing right in front of her doorway with her clothes still very much in a state of disarray. It was clear that she had just rushed down the stairs, her panting breaths doing little to hide the fact that she was still exhausted from whatever activities she did last night.
"Oh, goodness... I’m just messing with you," Raine shook her head with a smile. "Also, why are you still calling me Boss? I thought you’re already about to leave me?"
Lyne visibly flinched, but she quickly composed herself as she invited herself into the room. "I haven’t left yet, Boss. Technically, I’m still under your jurisdiction."
"And as if you weren’t under someone else’s jurisdiction last night?"
Raine smirked as Lyne instantly turned as red as a tomato. Truly, the art of making innuendos came to her as easily as breathing.
"I-I... I’ll never betray you," Lyne replied, obviously trying to play the straight man in their conversation. "Sure, I’ll be the Luna of Boris’s pack soon, but I’ll never leave your jurisdiction."
"Lyne, relax will you?" Raine shook her head as she sat up. "I’m not even berating you and yet you’re still acting like I’m about to admonish you."
Her friend blinked, her words clearly affecting her as she then took a deep breath. Taking her time, Lyne closed her eyes, Raine waiting patiently for her friend to come back to her.
"A-Apologies," Lyne uttered, her cheeks still red as she averted her gaze. "It’s just... I’m still trying to process everything that had happened..."
"Hey now, you wanted it to happen, right?" Raine chuckled. "There’s no shame in trying to process new events, especially if you’re still, well, new to it."
Lyne faintly smiled. "Thanks, Raine..."
"Anytime," Raine smirked. "Anyway, I didn’t really call you here for anything. I just wanted help looking for Draki."
Almost militarily, Lyne stood up, her hands quickly fixing up her disheveled self as she nodded. "I see. Shall we then?"
Raine scoffed, "Again, relax, will you? We’re not under attack or anything."
To her surprise, instead of wilting, Lyne smirked at her as she replied, "I know. I’m just making sure we’re still up to standard."
Raine rolled her eyes as she stood up, preparing herself for her hunt by also fixing herself up. "You and your standards, Lyne," she chuckled as they went out of the room. "Anyway, when are you leaving my so-called jurisdiction anyway?"
"As soon as Boris and I get married," Lyne replied as they went on with their search. "Before then, I’ll try and spend as much time with you as possible."
Raine narrowed her eyes. "You’re sounding like you love me there, Lyne," she shook her head. "Shouldn’t you be spending your time with Boris?"
"First off, I do love you as my dearest friend, and second, Boris is still busy setting up the affairs of his newly-acquired pack," Lyne replied with a knowing smirk. "While I’m already marked by him, wait..."
"What? Do you see the flaws in your logic now?" Raine chuckled at her confused friend. "You’re already marked, so if you’re thinking that you’re still not allowed to meddle in his pack’s affairs, then you’re sorely mistaken."
"...You’re right," Lyne sighed. "Guess I really do have my work cut out for me..."
"Don’t worry. You’ll get the hang of it soon enough," Raine consoled her. "Like I said, you’re one of the most competent women I know. Before you know it, you’ll have Boris working for you instead of the other way around."
"Boss..." Lyne groaned.
"Hey, I fully expect that to happen knowing how you get when you’re serious," Raine giggled. "Anyway, we’re not really getting much done, huh..."
Raine shrugged as they rounded yet another corner of the mansion. They had been too busy chatting to even look for Draki properly, and it showed in their lack of progress.
"Shall we check the control room?" Lyne suggested, getting back on track.
Nodding, the two of them made their way to the aforementioned room. Opening the door, they were both surprised to see that both Mia and Levi were... busy with one another.
"What’re you two doing?" she curiously asked.
"Gah! B-Boss!" Levi sputtered out.
"W-We were just... calibrating the machines!" Mia excused herself, the blush on her face doing little to be convincing.
"Right..." Raine trailed off, her mind already coming up with a good innuendo for the two of them. "Are you sure you two weren’t just calibrating each other’s bodies instead?"
The two immediately went of on their own tangents of excuses, and Raine couldn’t help but laugh at her men’s embarrassment and misery.
"Is this how I was earlier?" Lyne asked, a hint of shame coloring her tone.
"Well, at least it’s not you this time around," Raine chuckled. She then barked out at her sputtering idiots, "Hey! Relax!"
Levi and Mia both stood straight, their panic fading away at the sound of her authoritative voice.
"Seriously, are all of you that easy to tease?" Raine exasperatedly sighed. Looking around for Draki, her eyes spotted a hint of shine coming off of Levi and Mia’s fingers. "Wait, are those rings?"
"Wedding rings, I might add as well," Lyne chimed in. "Are you two forgetting to tell us something?"
Hearing the accusations, the two gave each other a knowing look before they sheepishly replied, "Yeah... We got married," Levi chuckled.
"When?"
"For a while now, actually," Mia giggled, somehow managing to recover her composure. "It’s around before you got back here, Boss."
Raine and Lyne blinked, shock running through their systems as they stared at the two of them.
"Really?!" the two voiced out in unison.
The newlyweds gave each other another look, a smirk on their faces as they both replied, "Yep!"
