Chapter 351: A Coffin
Chapter 351: A Coffin
Quickly readying herself for the day, Raine then promptly went down the stairs to meet with her husband. There she saw Nathan talking to a familiar figure. Ah, he remembered that man...
Seeing her come around the corner, Nathan quickly walked towards her and asked, "Do you remember him?"
"Of course," Raine straightforwardly answered. "It’s your dear friend who got drunk while ogling at my beauty."
It was Kiran Lopez, the man who Nathan had a drink with at the resto-bar that Raine happened to walk into before.
She had investigated everything about Nathan before while he was still posing as Tyrone Lopez, and that was where she came across this man’s name. This Kiran was the CEO of Umbra Security Agency, the self-same agency where Tyrone was once employed before Yun picked him up as his bodyguard.
She and her team had a hunch that Kiran was nothing more than a front with someone more powerful than him hiding behind the curtains of the Umbra. A few investigations later, it turned out that they were right since the whole thing belonged to Nathan and Davin in the first place.
"Kiran Lopez at your service, Madam," Kiran politely greeted with his usual bubbly and approachable demeanor. No wonder Nathan and Davin chose him to be their front when it came to all their business deals.
"Well, since you’re a dear friend of my husband, please don’t be formal and just address me as Raine," she greeted with a bit of her usual hospitality. "It’s only too bad that we’ve been introduced this late, but we still have a lot to catch up on in the future. "
"Indeed. I’ve been so swamped with work that I failed to introduce you to one of my family, Kiran," Nathan chuckled. "Although we don’t share the same blood, this man here is like a brother to both me and Davin."
"All I can say is that we’re sworn blood brothers," Kiran added with a smile. "I owe Nathan here my life and assisting him in everything he needs is the least I can do for him."
"Hmm, Nathan hasn’t told me yet about it, but I would like to hear the full story on that some time in the future!" Raine excitedly smiled.
She wanted to know more about Nathan’s childhood and how he survived everything that could’ve happened to him after they got separated during the eradication. She knew he must’ve had a hard time, but she was glad that Nathan ended up being surrounded by a group people who truly cared for him like Kiran here, Aspen and his mother, and Davin.
"Come now. Let’s have some breakfast while we discuss some important things with Kiran," Nathan chuckled as he pulled them all towards the dining area.
"You can ask him to stay later if you want to hear more about my childhood experiences, seeing as Kiran has witnessed them all. He’s basically a walking diary of my life since I was a kid with the two of us growing up together, but right now, he’s more like the walking diary of Davin since I told him to look after him instead. This man is quite clingy if you must know..."
"Hey, stop that. You’re making me sound bad to Raine," Kiran snorted. "I’m not clingy, okay. I just care about you and Davin since you two are the only family I have..."
Raine chuckled as Nathan pulled out a chair for her to sit on. But before she could even land her buttocks on the cushion, Davin had suddenly appeared before her, sitting casually as if waiting for them all to finish.
"Oh, I also asked for Davin’s presence here since we need to discuss a few things about the Umbra Security Agency..." Nathan explained.
Raine smiled. "Davin is family, so I don’t mind him going in and out from time to time." She then looked at Kiran and curiously asked, "You’re human, right Kiran? Doesn’t it cross your mind how dangerous it is to have these two as your friends? One can eat you alive, while the other can drain your blood to death..."
"Ughhh... Stop that. Kiran’s blood isn’t even appetizing enough to try," Davin blankly refuted.
Raine chuckled before she then fluttered her lovely eyelashes at Kiran. "So, if you have to choose if you reach the point of dying, would you rather have Davin turn you into a vampire, or Nathan turning you into a Lycan?"
Kiran’s face crumpled. He even cringed as he answered, "Ewww... I would rather die than not be a human."
"Good choice, my friend," Davin commented.
"Darling, stop talking to them and start eating," Nathan complained before he then started feeding her shamelessly in front of their two guests. Here... You need to keep your strength up."
Doing her best to dodge, Raine shook her head as she humorously smiled. "I’ll eat by myself, thank you very much. Go ahead and start discussing important matters with these two gentlemen. These poor souls look morbid enough eating the dog food in front of them."
Kiran nodded in agreement. "Oh, thank goodness. I’m not used to seeing this stoic Nathan acting like this," he jokingly shuddered. "I feel goosebumps all over. Gosh, I still remember how he always frowned on women..."
Davin looked at his wristwatch and said, "I only have an hour, so let’s make this discussion precise and brief..."
"Yeah, and since you’ll have to focus on the Sun Clan and you know that no one there to reliably help you except for those that King Arthur will introduce to you, I still suggest you still trust no one..." Nathan suggested. "In the meantime, Kiran will work with you as your executive and personal assistant since, well, he’s the only person you can trust at the moment..."
"Oh, I’m fine with that, but what will happen to the Umbra Security Agency?" Kiran asked. "I can’t just leave the business like that..."
"I will take over for now Kiran," Nathan assuaged him. "Once you and Davin are finished stabilizing the Sun Clan, you can return to it as if nothing even happened..."
"The business is already expanding. I believe I can manage both, Uncle," Davin retorted. "You already have your hands full with managing the Moon Clan and Yue Group business, not to mention Raine’s Moonlight Squad now that she’s on leave."
Raine could only agree in silence to Nathan’s nephew. It was weird though to hear Davin call Nathan Uncle, seeing as the two of them were just around the same age, only... But... wait...
"Aren’t you older than Nathan by a few months?" Raine interrupted while looking at Davin.
"Yes, but I like addressing him as Uncle since he’s technically that anyway," Davin shrugged. "My father and his father are brothers. Besides, he’ll look older than me soon enough."
Raine nodded. She then looked at Nathan and said, "Davin’s right. You already have a lot on your plate, not to mention my future tantrums the longer my pregnancy goes on. So let these two handle a few things to ease your burdens..."
"Also, I plan on sending Princess Luna to our facility in Umbra Island for some enclosed training for four years," Davin pointed out. "I can’t trust any other place to send her to and train except for Umbra International Academy."
"Do what you see fit," Nathan nodded with a satisfied smile. "I just offered in case you need a helping hand, but I guess you can finally manage to do things on your own now. I’m glad that you’ve been finally getting out more from that closet of yours."
Hearing her husband’s words, Raine felt like there was some kind of deep story about Davin hidden underneath what he said. Maybe she would ask Kiran more about it later. Or maybe Nathan. He did mention a closet, but wouldn’t it be more appropriate to call it a coffin? Raine unknowingly scoffed and giggled at her own thoughts that all eyes went to her.
"Oh, don’t mind me," she grinned as she sipped on her milk. "Continue on with your discussion, guys."

AN: Davin and Luna will have a new book. It’s a standalone book and will begin with a timeline that has no connection to this timeline. The working title is His Immortal Heart. Hopefully, it will be available on NovelFire soon once I started writing enough Chapters for it.
