Chapter 289: To Start Anew

At Moon Clan territory

Levia and Mia were surprised when Nathan and Raine suddenly appeared in the Moon Clan mansion without any notice since their Boss had a habit of informing them whenever she would come back home.

"We’ll be having a party tonight. Nathan and I have some good news to announce," Raine excitedly informed, keeping the details brief to not give away the surprise. "Mia, you go on ahead and invite our Moonlight Squad along with our closest family and friends alright?"

Behind her, Nathan only shook his head upon seeing how his mate quickly got herself busy for the small dinner celebration they’ll have in the Yue Ancestral Mansion. Almost immediately, she put Levi in charge of the food, with Mia being in charge of informing their few chosen invitees.

Moments passed and Nathan stayed on the veranda of the mansion. From the veranda, Nathan quietly observed the situation. He watched as everyone made themselves busy arranging the garden. Sometime later, Davin approached him and made some small talk.

"You both arrived so suddenly. Still, congratulations are in order," he let out a faint smile. "I feel another beating heart within Raine’s belly... Is that why you two arrived so suddenly?"

"Well, yes," Nathan nodded with a wide smile on his face. "Raine wanted to tell the good news to her family, so here we are."

Davin hummed at his answer. A brief silence then followed, which he promptly broke as he remembered something.

"Hmm... Speaking of family, I was honestly about to go see you since your phone was busy," Davin shrugged at the thought. "You see, King Arvin of the Sun Clan visited last night to see Randall- I mean, Prince Lark. Huh, I guess it’s better that we properly address him now that his real identity is out. Also, have you already told Raine the truth about her father?"

Nathan swore under his breath. "Damn... I’ll tell her now then. She should at least know what happened," he nodded in agreement. "Besides, we also need to meet up with her sister to find out more about why they got separated."

"Fair enough. Still, what’s the plan now?" Davin curiously asked. "Will she still fight in her condition?"

"No, she won’t. And even if she insisted, I’ll never let her," Nathan quickly denied. "For now, we need to execute the plan ahead of time. First, we have to clear Boris’s name. Make sure that he’s reinstated as the Alpha of his pack. From there, we bring Danos down before I step down from the throne and let Aspen take my place."

Seeing his uncle sigh, Davin taunted, "A sigh, Uncle? How come?"

"Well, it’s Aspen. I can only hope that he’s ready to take responsibility," Nathan sighed deeply. "I’m sure that anyone could still challenge him for the throne once I stepped down... We train together, and I’m well aware of his strengths and capabilities. He can handle himself well enough. His only problem is his lack of confidence in himself. I just that hope by now, he already got a grip on himself..."

Davin faintly scoffed, "I’m sure he’ll be fine. Don’t worry. Besides, I’ll help with whatever I can before I settle down with the Sun Clan."

"The Sun Clan?" Nathan asked, turning to Davin with a raised eyebrow.

As if taking enjoyment from his uncle’s surprise, Davin flashed a devious smile as he replied, "I’ll be marrying the one and only Princess and heiress of the Sun Clan, Luna Tai."

Nathan blinked in faint surprise. He didn’t see that coming, but Davin was old enough to make his own decisions. Still, he couldn’t help but add, "I hope you know what you’re doing, Davin. Just make sure you’ll be responsible enough for your own actions."

"Stop that," Davin scoffed. "You make it sound like I’m the bad guy here."

"Aren’t you a devil beneath that handsome disguise of yours?" Nathan scoffed in return.

"Well, what can I do? The princess was desperate enough to ask me, so I decided to help her out," Davin shrugged with a smile.

"Anyway, let me scoot out now, my dear uncle. I’ve got some business to attend to, but I’ll be sure not to miss dinner later. By the way, Grandma was with Lark at the Sun Clan territory. King Arvin wanted to check every possible means that might help his brother bring his memory back. I decided to let them try. I see no reason to kill their hopes, after all. I will bring them over for dinner, okay?"

"Sure."

And with that, Davin let him alone to watch over the preparations. He was content with keeping quiet, that was until Raine looked up and waved at him. He smiled in turn, talking to her telepathically.

[Darling, come here for a second,] he told her. [I have something important to tell you.]

Seeing her nod, Nathan waited as she then walked back inside the mansion. Soon enough, she was at the veranda, hugging his back in greeting.

"What is it?" Raine murmured out. "You sounded so serious?"

Turning around so he could face her, Nathan lovingly cupped Raine’s face as he gazed at her beauty. From there, he said, "Darling, we’ve been so occupied these last few days that I almost forgot to tell you some important things. For one, I discovered a few things about your father. You’re aware that the Voyager’s Watch in me gives me the power of clairvoyance to see through the past, right? I used it and looked at your father’s past, and if you want, I can show it to you... what really happened that day."

There was a long pause as the two of them simply stared at each other. Raine took in some air, letting out a weighted breath before she replied, "I don’t need to see it. That’ll just be too tragic for me to witness, darling, and I want to avoid all sorts of stress now that I’m already pregnant."

She smiled. "There’s no need to look at the past. I’m happy with my present, and I’ll be looking forward to my future with you."

Nathan couldn’t help but stretch the smile on his lips even further as he heard her words. Pulling her closer into his arms for a warm embrace, he relished her presence as they enjoyed themselves in each other’s arms.

After some time of enjoying each other’s warmth, Raine sighed and murmured, "About Randall... I mean, my father... I know he’s not at fault and that he’s still suffering from the curse for accidentally killing my mother. I... I want to start anew and create new memories with him, so I want him to stay here with me... with us..."

"How about your twin?" Nathan asked. He was aware that Mara’s side of the family had been trying to reach out to Raine for some time now.

"I’ll meet with my twin soon enough, and you’ll go with me to see her as well," Raine commented. "Maybe you can also check on how she got separated from me. I’m honestly curious about that. I don’t necessarily need to see it for myself though, so you can just tell me what happened once you performed the clairvoyance with her."

"Hmmm... Looks like my sweet vixen’s being strict with her pregnancy," Nathan chuckled in jest. "I’ll try my best not to make you too stressed then."

Raine smiled at his words. "I love you so much, Nathan," she suddenly murmured.

It was music to Nathan’s ears. She usually didn’t say those words to him often.

"I love you more, my sweet vixen..." Nathan whispered back, kissing Raine’s forehead lovingly. "No, take backs..."
