Chapter 288: Face Everything Together
Nathan and Raine were practically blissful upon hearing the good news that the new parents threw a lot of questions at the doctor about the dos and don’ts they had to account for during pregnancy.
Hearing their questions, the doctor in the emergency room chuckled as he said, "I’ll be referring you two to the best obstetrician and gynecologist in the hospital. She’ll be able to assist you further regarding this matter."
Nathan and Raine noted the advice with a nod. Lying down on her bed, Raine waited for Nathan to get their clearance in the emergency room before they finally headed to the clinic that the doctor referred to them.
Along the way, Nathan realized that they had rushed to the hospital as soon as they woke up. Looking at Raine, he said, "We haven’t had breakfast yet. You should go eat first."
"Sure," Raine nodded.
Stopping by at a cafe inside the hospital, Raine had a wide grin as she sat on the nearest chair, her eyes never leaving Nathan as he went to order some food.
He was currently by the counter, ordering them some breakfast wearing nothing but boxer shorts and a shirt he managed to grab during his rush to get her to the hospital. Well, both of them were practically in their sleepwear, he was at least quick enough to put a coat on her before practically carrying her to the hospital like she was already dying.
Still, she was honestly in a daze at what they’d just learned. She was becoming a mother now, and she would finally get to see Aire again after all this time. In hindsight, she now knew why she always felt so sleepy and lethargic recently. It was definitely a part of the symptoms of her pregnancy.
Soon enough, Nathan returned with food in tow as he handed her a sandwich and a mug of hot chocolate. Bringing the sandwich up to her mouth, Raine’s lips twitched when she smelled the pickles.
"Ewww," she gasped, handing the sandwich back to Nathan. Instead, she carefully sipped on her hot chocolate as she explained, "That smells awful. Is there anything sweet like cake or something?"
"Hold on, I will look," Nathan said before going back to the counter.
Watching him leave, Raine found herself caressing her tummy as she whispered, "Looks like you’re also a sweet tooth like Mommy, huh."

Time passed, and the couple had their check-up from the Obstetrician. There, the couple started firing off their questions. Nathan even recorded the conversation on his phone just for posterity and for cross-referencing in the future.
From there, they got some prescriptions, which Nathan also bought in the hospital’s pharmacy. Things went smoothly, and soon enough, they were walking back to the parking lot to go home.
"Oh my God! I still can’t believe that we’ll finally be together with our dear daughter," Raine beamed as soon as they were back inside the car. "I’m so excited that I feel like my heart’s gonna burst anytime soon! Everyone in my clan will be delighted to hear about this! "
As the car moved, Raine found herself checking all of the medication the doctor gave her for her pregnancy. She knew they had it all, but she just couldn’t help but stare at it as if it was yet another confirmation that she was pregnant.
"I told you already that it’s complete. I even double-checked it with the pharmacist," Nathan chuckled as he teased. Trust me, that’s everything the doctor prescribed."
"I just want to make sure that she’ll be healthy, you know," Raine replied with a grin. She honestly couldn’t stop herself from smiling, but that smile quickly faded from her face when Nathan turned the car and parked it on the safe side of the road.
"What’s wrong?" Raine asked with a frown.
Instead of replying, Nathan stared at her intently. He then grabbed her hands, holding them gently as he caressed her knuckles with his thumbs.
"It’ll be much better if you’ll stay at the Moon Clan territory at this point, darling," Nathan stated, his brows drawing together as he continued. "It’ll be unsafe for you to remain at the Convel Society. I don’t want to risk it, so I want you to stay out of the Society for a while."
Hearing his request, Raine let out a sigh and murmured, "I understand. I’ll do as you ask. Besides, I also don’t want to compromise our baby’s welfare." She then jokingly added, "Hell, I don’t even wanna see Sasha’s face knowing that there’s a saying that your baby will look like the people around you."
Nathan chuckled at seeing how Raine’s face contorted at the thought. Dragging his hand up to cup and caressed one of her cheeks, he reassured her, "I’ll swiftly handle things back in the Convel Society before I return to you and to Moon Clan soon enough. Also, I need to tell the good news to Aspen and the rest. I’m sure this will pressure him to finally face what he is destined to do. It’s time he took the lead and accepted his fate."
Raine chuckled. "Alright, drive me back to the Moon Clan instead. I’ll be waiting for you patiently to finally settle there with me," she smiled.
She then giggled as she remembered her dear friend. "And then there’s Lyne... Hmm... I’d love for her to stay there for just a bit more time with Boris. They need all the help they can get anyway. In fact, I’ll just call her and instruct her to stay there so that she can keep an eye on you. She’ll be my eyes while I’m away~"
Shaking his head, Nathan commented with a smile, "Boris should be thanking you for your efforts, darling..."
Stepping on the gas, Nathan finally moved their car back on the road. Without rushing, they made their way to the Moon Clan Territory.
"We should celebrate, so I’ll sleep with you at the Moon Clan tonight, darling," Nathan whispered.
"Also, we should announce our marriage ceremony. I want it done as soon as possible. As early as tomorrow, if we can manage it. This has been long overdue already." He regretfully added, "I’m sorry if it took so long. It’s taken me a while to give you a proper wedding ceremony."
Raine smiled as she moved closer to him. Hugging his arm, she laid her head on his broad shoulder as she replied, "It’s not your fault, darling. What’s important is that we’re together now... We’ll face everything together."
Wistfully, Raine raised her hand to look at the ring Nathan gave her. He was supposed to propose the night when Aire returned to her era... But apparently, she lost her most important memories when Aire disappeared back into the future, causing her to continue with her attack on the Convel Society.
"That ring fits you perfectly," Nathan lovingly murmured. "I love you, Raine."
"Focus on driving..." Raine jokingly reminded. "We need to be careful now to avoid any more problems while waiting for Aire to come into this world."
She couldn’t help but smile even wider. Ah, she was way too excited that her mind was already filling up with various ideas on what to buy for their baby Aire.
