Chapter 285: [Bonus Chapter] Luna

At Moon Clan Territory

Ester took to taking charge of the Moon Clan seriously during the absence of their King. With the help of her grandson Davin, they both managed to keep the entire group from collapsing in on itself during these turbulent times.

Seated on her usual chair, the elder was having her evening tea when she saw Davin just arriving back home.

"You’re back," Ester greeted with a smile, "Come here, Grandson. Sit with me." Watching her grandson move, she was already aware that Davin was no longer human.

In truth, she honestly didn’t have the courage to ask him what really happened and how he ended up becoming a vampire. It was a curiosity she had, but she was in no hurry to have her questions answered.

At her behest, Davin sat beside her, casually grabbing a cup and pouring himself some tea to join her.

"Hmm... You do know that I wouldn’t mind you having a different drink of preference while you’re with me," Ester commented with a reassuring smile.

Davin chuckled and replied, "It’s alright, Grandma. I do have cravings, but I can still manage to properly consume food like a normal human being... like my old self..."

Ester nodded before she continued, "I haven’t asked you this, Grandson, since I’m not even sure if you’d open up to me this early, but I am curious to know how you... well..."

"How I became a vampire, yes?" Davin finished his grandmother’s sentence for her. With a reassuring smile, he explained, "It’s honestly a long story, Grandma. But for you to feel at ease, I’d say I became like this by my own free will. I wanted to become strong, so I gambled."

Hearing his words, Ester tried her best to control her emotions. She was sure that his grandson experienced something hard devastating and hard while he was away for him to even resort to this... For him to ask for more power...

"I know you want to know more because you’re worried, Grandma, but really, you don’t have to," Davin gave her yet another reassuring smile and nod. "This is my fate, and I don’t regret everything I’ve ever done. The vampire who helped me gave me a new life, although it is quite different from before."

Ester could only nod as Davin explained himself even further. Deep down, however, she knew she still had her doubts about the whole situation.

She was about to voice out her thoughts when a servant suddenly came by. With a bow, the servant announced, "Madame, the King of Sun Clan along with his daughter is already outside."

"Oh. Please let them in this instant," Ester instructed.

Seeing the servant leave with another bow, she turned at Davin who had a questioning look in his eyes. With a smile, Ester said, "King Arvin wants to see his brother Lark, so I set up a dinner meeting for them."

"They’ll be devastated once they find out he’s been cursed," Davin commented.

"Hmm... At least he’ll get to see his brother alive and well again," Ester shrugged. "I’m sure that’s all that matters to King Arvin."

After a few moments, the aforementioned king arrived on the scene.

"Ester," Arvin politely greeted as soon as he entered the living room. Smiling at her guests, Ester’s face lit up upon seeing that Arvin was with her young daughter Luna.

"Luna, you’ve already grown up!" Ester enthusiastically burst out. Luna had been a little girl the last time she saw her. The next thing knew she’d heard that Luna had already gone abroad to study. Just looking at her now, Luna had grown up to become a gorgeous princess. Indeed, her looks alone made it no secret to them how pampered the only heiress of Sun Clan was.

"Auntie Ester, how are you?" Luna timidly replied.

"I’m fine, dear," Ester smiled at the young girl. Upon seeing Arvin look at Davin with interest, Ester proudly introduced him, "Ah, he’s my long-lost grandson, Davin."

"It’s nice to meet you, King Arvin," Davin politely greeted.

From where she sat, Ester saw a curious glint on King Arvin’s expression. She was aware that the man was looking for a suitable husband for his daughter, and Ester could already tell how the King would also plan to prey on her grandson with Nathan already being taken.

She had also heard that he was also in talks with Earth Clan, particularly, to its newly appointed King in hopes of a bethrotal. After all, Chad was also a bachelor, and one of the best candidates for the Princess of Sun Clan to marry.

"Nice to meet you," King Arvin smiled before he then moved to the side to introduce his daughter. "Also, please meet my only daughter, Luna."

Hearing her cue, Luna extended her hand to him for a handshake, only for Davin to kiss the back of her knuckles instead. "It’s nice to meet you, Miss Luna."

"Likewise, Mr. Davin," Luna bashfully answered with a smile.

"Seeing as dinner is ready, let us all head to the dining room, shall we? Randall- I mean Lark, will join us there," Ester suggested with a smile. She then looked to Davin and instructed, "Grandson, please fetch Mr. Lark for dinner."

With a nod, Davin quickly followed her request. Ester then led her guests to the dining room, making sure that everyone was seated before they could proceed.

With everyone all firmly in their seats, King Arvin immediately took the opportunity to suggest, "I won’t beat around the bush, Ester. You know full well that my days are numbered. I need someone who can protect my daughter. Do you think your grandson will be capable enough to do it?"

"Father, please stop this," Luna begged in her soft voice.

Ester was caught off-guard at the sudden proposition. She was aware that King Arvin was facing difficulties managing his own Clan, but upon seeing the desperation in his eyes, she could already tell that the situation was worse than she initially expected.

"I understood that your King Nathan had my niece as his mate, so Raine can no longer lead our clan. She had a twin, Mara, but she... I’m afraid she doesn’t want to lead the clan nor involve herself in it," King Arvin explained.

"I need someone capable to replace me, but my daughter is far from ready yet. I really don’t know what to do anymore. I can only pray that my life will be extended, but I know that I will soon join my wife in heaven. I just wish to see Luna settle down with someone before that happens. With someone, I can trust."

"I’m not sure if Davin would even agree to this kind of arranged marriage, King Arvin."

Ester’s eyes darted towards Luna. If she was remembering correctly, the girl had just turned eighteen. She was indeed too young to tackle the burden of leadership.

"I don’t want anyone taking advantage of my daughter. So I want someone powerful enough to take care of her along with everything that I’ll leave behind for her," King Arvin explained further. "And unfortunately, none among my Clan is even barely qualified enough for her."

He then added, "It’s also my fault for letting Luna live like this, not letting her experience the harsh reality of this world. I would’ve liked to have more time, but it was already too late when I realized that I was wrong with how I let her grow like this. She’s too sheltered..."

"Hmm, how about this? Let me first talk to Davin," Ester suggested. " I can’t promise that he’ll have positive feedback, however."

"Can I talk to him instead about this?" Luna interrupted, staring at both Ester and her father.
