The Untamed: Game of Hearts -
Chapter 254: His Family
Chapter 254: His Family
Ester didn’t think that Raine’s wedding would turn out like this. She knew that she missed a lot of things because of her inaction, but she was at least aware of the fact that Marcus was at war with the werewolves.
Mirage... was no ordinary group. There was always more to the group than any unsuspecting eyes could see. In truth, the three clans comprising the Mirage were originally formed by humans alongside the most powerful among the supernatural beings; that being vampires and werewolves. The Moon Clan’s original ruler, the Yue family, was born from a union between a human and a werewolf. Thus, werewolf blood ran through their veins ever since. Of course, not all of Yue harbored the genes of a werewolf. There were always exceptions, like her and Arthur.
Some of them considered it a curse, and some thought of it as a gift. Throughout the generations, the law of the Moon Clan changed with every ruler, and with it, the different beliefs and reasonings when it came to considering a werewolf’s blood in their veins a curse or a gift ebbed and flowed. Her father, as an example, was someone who believed that it was a curse... He wanted the world to be dominated only by humans, a world order he perceived to be fair and square for all life on earth. To that end, he created hunters to kill any creature that would harm humans, as well as reform the laws of the Moon Clan to suit such an agenda. Her father then instituted a forced training regimen for children at an early age. That way, they turned out to not only just be hunters of the supernatural but also be deadly assassins for the betterment of the Moon Clan as well.
Truly, he and Marcus were so alike in many different aspects. Though the two didn’t share blood like father and son, they were more alike than both would like to think. She could still remember how her brother Arthur was always envious of how well their father treated Marcus. Even better than them, who was his real flesh and blood. Even so, she and Arthur didn’t harbor any bad feelings against Marcus. After all, he was always good to them.
Ester sighed. She missed the good old days when the four of them lived peacefully like real siblings. She and Arthur, together with Marcus and Yun... She couldn’t remember where it started to go wrong in the first place... But there was one thing she was sure of, and that it all started with one person: Ava, Raine’s mother.
Ava was someone who had unexpectedly arrived in their clan. Marcus had found the woman unconscious, and he saved her by bringing her into their care. Her father, as well as everyone, was fond of Ava once they got to know her. She was a nice lady, nice enough that her father even thought of adopting her like Marcus and Yun. Such a thing didn’t occur, however, because Marcus fell deeply in love with the woman.
Looking back, Ester thought that the two would end up together, but it turned out that it was only a one-sided affair. In reality, Ava fell in love with one of the Princes from the Sun Clan. Of course, both Clans were against the relationship, which ended in the two lovers eloping. Once he realized what happened, Marcus went haywire. He stopped at nothing, trying his best to look for Ava just to bring her back to him.
During that period, her father Philip, who was the King of the Moon Clan at that time, also found out about Ava’s origins. Apparently, she was a fallen angel, so he told Marcus to stop the search since he didn’t want her back anymore knowing that she wasn’t human. It was at that point that Marcus started changing as well.
Ester didn’t know the exact details of how Marcus found Ava, but what little she knew was that she died in the hands of the man she loved, who also turned out to be a werewolf. Marcus came back a changed man. That was when he became a mad man who would stop at nothing to eliminate those that deemed were too dangerous for humanity to survive.
And thus, as the war waged on, Ester watched from the sidelines as the fight happened before her eyes; their fighters trying their best to secure her safety from all the chaos. However, amidst it all, her eyes caught a familiar figure of a man, one who looked exactly like her son Jude. It was then that she felt it. With no doubt in her mind, she knew she had a connection with the young man who had a great resemblance to her brother’s son, Nathan, who was currently leading the werewolves.
’Could it be...’ The thought came to her as her gaze never left him.
The answer came quickly as he confirmed her hunch himself.
"I am Davin Yue, son of Jude Yue, and a Prince of the Moon Clan!" he proudly declared. "We don’t want to fight! Surrender now, and all of your lives will be spared!"
Her eyes widening, Ester didn’t even hesitate as she made her way toward the young man. Her eyes welled up with tears, joy overwhelming her as she ran. It was real. Her grandson was indeed alive!

’Oh God, Jude... your son is alive!’ she happily thought as tears poured out from her eyes.
As soon as she reached him, Ester spoke out. "Grandson..."
"Hello, Grandmother," Davin greeted her with a smile. At that point, Ester no longer thought about her surroundings. She didn’t care if she was still in danger. All of it no longer mattered as she made her way towards her grandson.
On the other hand, Davin saw one werewolf was about to attack his companion’s grandmother. And so, he quickly moved and secured his grandmother’s safety in one swift motion. Carrying her around, Davin then immediately put his grandmother back on her feet as soon as they arrived at a much safer location.
"I’m sorry... I’m sorry..." Ester found herself repeatedly whispering the longer she stared at him. Her eyes weren’t deceiving her. He was indeed Jude’s son, even sporting an exact resemblance with his father. Even back then, Jude and her brother Arthur were often mistaken as father and son just because of how similar they looked.
Looking at her, Davin gave her a reassuring smile and said, "You only did what you had to do to save me from Marcus and Yun, Grandma. So please, don’t say that you’re sorry." He then let off a small chuckle, "It’s fine. I perfectly understand the situation. Uncle Nathan even explained it to me when he found me..."
Hearing his voice, Ester could no longer contain her emotions any longer and immediately hugged her grandson.
"Stay here for a while," Davin soothed, rubbing the older woman’s back with his free hand. "You’ll be safe here..."
Realizing his words, it was then that Ester realized exactly where she was. They were currently inside Raine’s private residence. She frowned as she uttered, "How did we..."
She didn’t have the time to finish her thought as she saw Lyne approaching. Ester’s questions only piled up even further at the sight of it. How did they manage to end up there quickly?
"Please take care of my grandma," Davin blankly asked as he then handed her over to Lyne. "I need to go back."
Without another word, Ester saw her grandson leave her, Lyne now pulling her with her to safety.
"Lyne, tell me... My grandson, Davin... He isn’t human, right?" Ester whispered, her eyes transfixed at the place where her grandson was just standing a while ago.
"Princess Ester... I don’t know the exact details but he’s a vampire," Lyne respectfully answered.
Ester only took a moment to think of the implications before she smiled and muttered, "It doesn’t matter... As long as he’s alive and can finally go back to his home, to his family, to me... I’ll always accept him..."
