Chapter 249: Selection of Your Luna

Nathan was anxious as days passed by. He wouldn’t watch any of the videos that came from the signal they got from Mia, but he ended up instructing Kiran, who he had assigned to monitor the live feed, to still connect the signal to his phone just so he could watch it anytime he wanted. They also now had better security and firewalls from Umbra, which Nathan had thought to be safer to connect to rather than having it connected directly to the Convel Society servers.

He really didn’t trust his own society’s technical team, knowing that some of the Elders were still against him ruling, especially Danos, who he knew was only waiting for the right moment to bring him down. Their disagreements with their plans against the Moon Clan were coming to a head, and it was only a matter of time until the man just tried something again.

’Anytime he wanted...’ Those words were such an understatement. He was still monitoring the situation like hell anyway. He might’ve wanted to stop the stupid act, but he simply couldn’t.

Letting out a sigh, Nathan was about to have dinner with Aspen and Boris in the dining area of his residence when Kiran called him.

"She’s on..." Kiran relayed through the phone, his irritation mounting as he began complaining. "Geez... I can’t believe you’re making me do something so inane like monitoring someone like this. Dammit! I’m the CEO of Umbra and yet you’re asking me to do-"

Cutting his former boss off, Nathan didn’t bother letting Kiran finish his whining in favor of opening up the live feed from his mobile phone. Clicking his tongue, he then looked at Aspen and said, "I’ll go eat in my room. Tell the cook to bring my meal there."

Without even waiting for a reply, Nathan walked directly back to his bedroom, all while watching the feed play from his phone.

"She looks good," he commented with a frown as he stared at Raine wearing a beautiful dress in the video, her pretty smiling deeply at the man in front of her. "How could she smile like that to another man?!"

Nathan grunted as he barged inside his bedroom. He was trying his best not to break his phone out of his rampaging control of his own emotions. For some reason, it was hard for him not to feel angry as he watched Raine talking nicely, and laughing with another man while they had dinner with Marcus.

’What am I doing?’ Nathan annoyingly thought out as he immediately turned off his screen. He knew he was having mixed emotions, and he couldn’t even point out what it really was that he was feeling. He was happy seeing Raine’s smiling face, but he was somehow also annoyed at the same time. Hell, right now, he was already fuming with the knowledge of how she easily agreed on marrying another man!

"If Marcus tells her to die, will she die too?!" he annoyingly hissed as he went out of his bedroom. Walking through the hallway, he called Kiran and instructed, "Compile all the footage pertaining to the undead. Send them all to Aspen early in the morning."

On the other line, Kiran let out a sigh as he acquiesced, "Copy that... Still, I hope this finally ends, Nathan..."

"It’ll only end once Marcus dies, Kiran," Nathan responded with gritted teeth.

"But won’t that cause a conflict between you and Raine?" Kiran reasoned out. "Davin told me that she’s your mate and that you two marked each other already. And although Raine’s not a real daughter, there’s still a strong bond between her and Marcus. I’m worri-"

"Stop worrying, Kiran. I don’t even have any memories of her so it won’t matter," Nathan quickly replied, cutting off his friend’s worries. "You know how much I’ve waited for the day when I can finally get justice for my family. I’ve been waiting long enough, and there’s no more turning back..." he whispered out, not bearing any sort of emotion in his tone as he declared.

*******

The next morning, Nathan held a meeting with his Council and Officers regarding the various matters that needed attention inside the Convel Society. Still, even as the meeting began, his head kept on wandering towards something more pressing, like the video he just watched last night where Raine was having dinner with Marcus and her so-called fiance. Apparently, they already set up the wedding with a date, and the fact had distracted him way too much to focus.

’A wedding before they attack us?’ Those words rang inside his mind like hell as they kept on repeating themselves in his ears. "I’ll definitely attack you first and stop that marriage then!" he unconsciously snorted, a dark expression coloring his face.

"I’m sorry, my King?" Lucio interrupted. It would seem that Nathan had unconsciously muttered out something that was supposed to be only inside his head.

"Oh, I’m sorry..." Nathan quickly apologized as he coughed into his fist. It was only a good thing that he was positioned far enough from others for them to understand what he had just said. That wasn’t to say that Aspen and Decan, who were actually near him, hadn’t heard him perfectly fine.

"Right... Like what I was saying, I strongly believe that it’s time that we proceeded with the selection of your Luna," Lucio seemingly continued, to which Nathan saw that everyone in the room was in agreement.

Remaining silent, the King had a blank expression as he listened to everyone who had seconded Lucio’s suggestion.

"We need a Queen, and it’s only natural that you get one from our kind, my King," an Elder commented. Everyone in the Convel Society already knew how the King had marked Marcus’s daughter. Truly, news travels too fast these days.

"I understand your sentiments, but we have more pressing matters that we need to address," Nathan chimed in, steering the conversation to his liking. "Like I said, Marcus will attack us sooner or later, so I want us all to focus on this potential war first. Only then can we proceed with the selection of my Luna." He then declared with finality, "Let’s keep our territory and people safe from threats first... and that main threat is Marcus. So now, let’s discuss the plans for the siege of the Moon Clan above anything else, shall we?"

With a commanding tone, Nathan then discussed his intention and informed everyone about Marcus’s plan to attack in around three to four weeks’ time. He also included the fact about how Marcus had succeeded in his ’Undead Army’ project that would obviously be used against them.

"Observe," Nathan gestured to the screen, and signaled Aspen to play the video recording of the current state of the project.

As soon as the screen turned black, everyone inside the room erupted in fury.

"We must not waste time! We need to bring down Marcus!" Danos declared with clenched teeth. "We must destroy that laboratory!!!" It was only obvious what their choices had to be. They must destroy those subjects that Marcus had succeeded in creating just so he could eliminate their kind.

Sasha, on the other hand, stared keenly at Nathan. Excusing herself out of the room, she went out to make a call.

"Did you find the ancient weapon I’m asking for?" she asked to the other side of the line with a frown.

"That’s good! I must have it before the attack against the Moon Clan," Sasha nodded, before hanging up the phone with a smirk on her face. "I’ll make sure I get rid of that bitch for good," she murmured before going back inside the meeting room. No one should become the Luna except for her!
