Chapter 247: Play Around

"We’ll discuss things further tomorrow!" Nathan barked out, gritting his teeth before hastily leaving the secret room.

"Well... that just happened..."

Everyone left inside the room was dumbfounded at what they just saw. It was surreal, seeing their King react and just walk out without even so much as a plan.

"Did he just remember her?" Davin worriedly asked, undecided on whether to follow Nathan or not.

"He didn’t, but his heart definitely recognized her," Decan pointed out. "That’s why he reacted that way." He then added, "Sometimes, emotions are the hardest things to fight against. She’s his mate and he marked her, so the strong bond is still there. Now that I think about it, the Princess probably knows well enough that what she’s doing could also help Nathan in the process of being a more reliable King for his people."

"At least he still has his rationale intact," Decan rambled on. "He’ll be able to contain his emotions since he has no memory of it all. It’ll be frustrating for sure, but that will keep him going for a good while," he nodded to himself. "I’m sure that right now, he’s just dying to launch this attack with perfection. After all, that’s gonna be the only way for him to meet her..."

"We have to hurry then. I want to help those two get back together," Boris eagerly suggested, staring at the data package displayed on the screen as he spoke. "Looking at things, we should attack before she can even marry that human. I heard he’s a genius, and Marcus really looked up to him since he’s the one behind most of the experiments and projects inside the Moon Clan. And from the looks of things, most of them were particularly on something that can be used against us."

Aspen nodded, "I’d probably assign someone trustworthy to monitor this live feed and report anything that could be helpful for the cause. Maybe we can get something out of this that we can use against Marcus."

Settling into a rhythm, the three discussed things further, making sure that they were all on the same page before they completely separated.

Meanwhile, Nathan went on his balcony for a bit of fresh air. His so-called mate’s scent still lingered inside his bedroom, and it was frustrating as hell to even be reminded of his supposed mate. However, he definitely understood the situation. The letter was still with him, and he didn’t dare to open it. Why should he, when he’d be coming face-to-face with her soon anyway?

Recalling what he just saw, her face felt too familiar for his own taste, and it brought him such a strange warmth as it made itself at home in the empty memory of her in his mind. But then, seeing her with another man, even talking to him like that made his blood boil. It was so intense that he had to leave, or else he’d surely end up destroying quite a bit of thing inside the room.

"Marry another man? Did you think I’ll let you do that after you left me feeling distorted like this?" Nathan growled in a challenging tone. "You still have a lot to fix here, Moon Clan Princess. I will take back all that is mine."

On the other hand, at Moon Clan Territory, Raine suddenly winced as she held her chest.

"Are you alright?" Janus worriedly asked, seeing her alarming reaction. "Your face looks pale..." Quickly, he grabbed some tissues, seeing how sweat drops were forming on her face.

"Oh, it’s nothing. I just need more sleep, I guess," Raine waved off his concern with a faint smile. "I’ll be going on ahead, Janus. See you again tomorrow, once we’re both free."

With an agreeing nod, Janus took the liberty of walking her to the exit of the facility. Waving him goodbye, Raine quickly got inside her car and drove back to her residence. En route, she bit her lower lip, tears running down her cheek as she struggled to focus on the road. Still, she could feel Nathan’s emotions. She had a dead smile as she wiped the tears off her cheek and whispered, "I miss you too..."

Steeling herself, Raine wasn’t sure if what she was feeling was the mixed emotions that Nathan was having for her. But somehow, she interpreted it in a way that she liked.

"You probably saw me in the feed..." she wistfully muttered, letting out a sigh as she continued. "I should go visit Janus more often then. Just so I can give you a glimpse of me every once in a while..."

She honestly didn’t know how things would turn in the future. What she knew, however, was that she’d do everything she could to do what was right. She also had to keep in mind to make sure that her father would remain safe no matter what, even with all of the chaos that was about to unfold. Raine let out another sigh, mentally trying to convince herself that things would eventually turn out well in the end.

But even so, the fear of something bad about to happen was still rampant within her. She could still feel Nathan’s hatred for her, but she already expected it, given how things turned out with her going behind his back.

Soon after, she arrived at her residence. Immediately, Draki greeted her as soon as she stepped foot inside the house.

"Hmm... It’d be nice if I’m able to talk to you telepathically like Nathan and our daughter, right?" she whispered out as she playfully ran her hands through the wolf’s fur.

Aire... Raine might not remember anything about her, but Nathan told her much about their future daughter. She was sure that he remembered the girl, and she smiled at the thought of the Voyager’s Watch still hidden inside his body. It had the power to get you back to the past. And according to her assessment, there was a high possibility that Nathan would soon get his memories back in due time. Well, at the very least, she gave Nathan enough time to think rationally for his people without minding his selfish love for her. She didn’t want to be the reason that innocent lives would be lost, after all.

Still, if her analysis was right, the trigger point for him to regain his memories would be once he physically came in contact with her. Possibly, skin contact alone could easily make him remember the memories he once lost.

"Boss, you’re back in good timing," Lyne called to her, interrupting her from her thoughts. Dinner’s ready."

Looking up, Raine smiled as she said, "It’s been a while since the three of us dined together like this."

Lyne nodded, and Raine walked with her towards the dining area where Levi and Mia had just finished preparing the table. The food wasn’t grand, but it was better than anything she’ll ever eat in the compound.

"Hmm... Looks like a feast!" Raine jested.

Levi chuckled, "Yeah, it’s our late celebration for having you and Lyne back with us, Boss."

"Also, we have some other good news..." Mia bashfully added before looking at Levi with a blush.

Raine and Lyne looked at Levi with curiosity, brimming in their eyes.

At the sudden attention, Levi scratched his head and timidly announced, "Mia and I are officially in a relationship."

The two women gave Mia and Levi an astonished blink. They definitely didn’t see that coming.

"Did you two play around while we’re deep in enemy territory?!" Raine teased, making the new couple turn deep red in embarrassment.
