Chapter 221: You’re back
Raine immediately went out of the bathroom and returned the mobile phone back to Aunt Sanya.
"I really hope that we won’t resort to this," Sanya murmured, gingerly holding the phone between her hands.
"Aunty... Please trust me on this," Raine pleaded. "Nathan will be back soon, and I need any of those sleeping potions or pills you have right now to give to him later. That way, he won’t be awake during the exchange of hostages."
Raine resisted the urge to flinch as she saw the conflicted expression on Aunt Sanya’s face. However, she still knew that it was the only way for a peaceful resolution... She refused to let two innocent kids die just because of Nathan’s utter possessiveness over her. She understood where he was coming from, but it was still an easy choice to make. Besides, she was confident that she and Nathan would reunite soon.
Making up her mind, Aunt Sanya let out a restless sigh as she whispered, "Alright. I’ll be going now to get the thing that you wanted."
Raine smiled, "Thank you, Aunt Sanya."
With a nod, the woman quickly left the room, her pace quickening knowing how little time they had left.
Letting off a sigh, Raine absently looked at the meals in front of her. They all looked scrumptious, but she simply had no appetite to eat at the moment.
After some time, Aunt Sanya returned to give her a bottle. It contained a powerful sleeping agent that she had to add into Nathan’s drink to make him fall into a deep sleep.
"Can you at least try discussing things with him over dinner?" Aunt Sanya sternly suggested.
Raine winced. She could feel the overwhelming feeling of how she didn’t want her to bypass Nathan. Truly, she appreciated the genuine concern that Nathan’s aunt was showing for her and Nathan.
"What if Nathan was right? That’s the reason why he doesn’t want to let you go..." Sanya trailed off, regathering her thoughts before she continued. "Marcus... He might do everything in his power for you to prevent you from going back to Nathan. Your Clan holds the power to erase memories using that powder, right? What if he also erased your memory once you returned?"
Hearing her concerns, Raine gave her a reassuring smile, grabbing the older woman’s hand and gently squeezing it. "I have angel blood, Aunt Sanya. And because of that special blood, I possess many gifts and powers beyond that of what any other mutant could have. The memory-loss powder wouldn’t work on me even if I was doused in it. And besides, if mutants can’t even infect me, then what more could that powder do?"
Behind the smile, however, a small apprehension nestled within Raine’s heart. In truth, Raine wasn’t quite sure about her own analysis since she had never used the power of herself yet. She had wanted to ask some of her trusted people like Lyne for help to check if it would work, but they never had the time to do so. Maybe there was a possibility that the mutant memory-loss powder had an effect on her? But then, Janus could only make one of it anyway, and she just gave it away to Aunt Sanya so that her father won’t be able to use it on her.
Seeing that her mind was made up, Aunt Sanya heaved out another long sigh as she looked at Raine with distress, before finally leaving the younger woman alone in the room.
"Nathan already had a complicated past. I can’t believe how the poor boy could still have a complicated present like this..." Sanya sympathetically murmured as she walked through the hallways.

At Moon Clan Territory
Levi could not stop pacing back and forth as he waited for Mia to come out from the King’s study. He had immediately rushed to the King’s wing in the mansion when he heard that Mia was back.
He was finally relieved when the security confirmed that she was back unscathed. He leaned on the wall as he darted his eyes in a particular direction. He was extremely grateful that Mia was safe but at the same time he was anxious too, waiting for Mia for almost an hour now.
’What are they talking about that she has to stay inside for so long!’ he complained in his mind. His heart almost jumped out of his chest when the door finally swung open. Levi straightened his back and a smile carved his lips when he saw Mia coming out. She still hadn’t noticed him because of the distance between them and was focused on taking deep breaths as though to calm herself down.
Levi sighed, understanding the expression she bore. She seemed relieved as though a weight had been finally lifted off her shoulders. It was cute how it seemed like she was able to breathe properly once she was out of King Marcus’ study.
"She must have been terrified," Levi murmured, before walking towards Mia who seemed frozen in her spot.
Mia was so startled when Levi grabbed her hand that he had to hold her firmly in his arms as her knees seemed to have lost all strength.
"Are you that nervous?" Levi whispered as he gently pulled Mia to a hug.
Mia could no longer hold the emotions bottling up inside her and started sobbing in Levi’s chest as she whimpered, "I thought I wouldn’t be able to see you again. I thought I would die without properly saying goodbye..."
"Silly... And why do you have to say goodbye? That’s the last word we should say to each other. Hush now... What matters now is you’re back with me safe and sound. Come, let’s head back to Boss’s private residence. Poor Draki must be starving to death," Levi jested, trying to soothe the atmosphere as he gently stroked Mia’s hair and patted her back.
It was effective because Mia started chuckling. She started letting all the nerves which she had when King Marcus interrogated her go. She would have been fine if it was a normal interrogation, but she had never experienced such an intense one. Marcus almost looked delirious when he questioned her about Convel Society.
"I’m fine. We should go now. We have a lot of things to do..." Mia whispered, looking thoughtful. She had a feeling that the Princess would be back soon... so while waiting for her, they should start working according to Boss’ instructions.
