Chapter 220: Powder in your hands
The room exploded into a cacophony of noise as Boris then began to go into detail about his so-called findings, knocking everyone into silence, including Danos. Still...
"That can’t change the fact that you still tried to kill me!" Danos spat out with a dark look on his face.
Boris returned the man’s gaze as he scowled, "If you were in my shoes, would you not seize the opportunity to kill the person who framed you? And that wasn’t to mention how I was trying to save my mate from you!"
"Hah! Frame you?! Do you want us to go over that again?!" Danos challenged "Isn’t the case closed already? We already proved that you’re guilty of all the charges levied against you!!!"
"I’ll ask for a retrial eventually so just you wait," Boris growled. "I assure you that this time, I’ll make sure that justice will be properly served!"
"Enough with this!"
With a bang on his table, Nathan swiftly interrupted the brewing quarrel between the two. Keeping things on track, They soon arrived at the discussion about Marcus’s message regarding the exchange of hostages.
"What’s there to even discuss?! The Princess has the blood of an angel flowing through her veins, and no one would ever dare lay a hand on her because of it. That’s why Marcus is this confident!" Lucio exclaimed with gritted teeth. "I just want my son back! And I’m sure Decan wants the same for her daughter! Proceed with the exchange first, and then we can attack the Moon Clan Territory after that!!!"
Through all of this, Aspen worriedly looked at Nathan. They had thought that they managed to keep the details about the message Marcus relayed through the woman he sent secretly. So how come Lucio knew that the Princess even had angel blood?
Nathan clenched his jaw... This was annoying. Marcus was definitely testing his patience and generosity through his actions.

Meanwhile, inside Nathan’s bedroom, Raine let out a whistle as she put on the new comfortable clothes that Nathan brought for her. Somehow, the white dress suited her tastes, well enough, and it’ll have to do for now since she wasn’t even home. Letting out a sigh, Raine focused on her thoughts as she sat on the couch, her mind way too busy with formulating her own plans on how to handle the current situation. It was then that she was interrupted from her deep stupor with a few knocks on the door.
"It’s me, Aunt Sanya..." a familiar voice echoed from behind the door.
"Please come in..." Raine answered with a smile, anticipating Sanya’s arrival.
The door opened, and Raine smiled as Sanya appeared in her usual fashion. The woman had always brought meals for her, with another servant finishing up with preparing the table. As soon as the servant with the trolley of food platters left, Raine quickly pulled the older woman in to sit beside her.
"Aunt Sanya... Please help me?" Raine immediately inquired. She then didn’t waste any more time as she discussed her plan with Nathan’s aunt, making sure to leave nothing to chance before the man in question came back into the bedroom. After everything had been said and done, Raine handed the woman the purse where the mutant memory-loss powder bottle was hidden.
"I’ll leave this in your care in case there will ever be a need to use this," Raine gravely stated. She then explained the use of the powder and how it would work. And then...
"Can you please lend me your phone?" Raine swiftly asked. "I’ll be quick. I just have to record the chants that you need to play in front of Nathan after spreading the powder in his eyes."
At her request, Sanya’s face paled as she whispered, "Is this really necessary? Can we just wait for Nathan’s plan to work?"
Raine shook her head as she explained, "I have an angel’s blood flowing through my veins. It’s been said that whoever dared to kill one of my kind would face either a curse more terrible than death or a very horrendous death either way. I’m sure that by now, my father had already made sure that that fact would already be well known inside the Convel Society just so no one would dare touch or harm me." She then sighed before continuing, "I know Father more than anyone else, Aunt Sanya. He will kill those innocent kids if I’m still not back within the intended time frame that he gave. He will not show mercy, just to deliver a clear message to everyone on how he won’t ever go back on his word." Raine morosely whispered out, "Nathan, I can already feel how he’ll refuse to let me go..."
Sanya frowned at what she was hearing. Seeing the older woman’s expression, Raine moved the fabric over her shoulder and showed Sanya the mark.
Her eyes lingering on the mark, Sanya shrugged and whispered, "Seeing that, he would definitely not let you go. If you two already share this strong of a bond already, Nathan might not take it all too well if we proceed to your plan, Raine."
"And that’s why I’m leaving that powder in your hands..." Raine reasoned. "You, along with the rest of the people who care about Nathan could discuss things and decide if you’ll ever need to use that powder on Nathan. Depending on the situation he could be in, it may or may not even be necessary." She then stared pleadingly into the woman’s eyes. "We don’t have much time, Aunt Sanya. Please let me borrow your phone."
Reluctantly, Sanya handed her mobile phone to Raine, the latter quickly snatching it up before going inside the bathroom to record the necessary chants needed. During recording, she couldn’t help the tears from welling up from her eyes as she gravely recited every word that Nathan needed to forget for him to get his rationality back in case he wouldn’t take her leaving well enough.
As soon as she was done, Raine composed herself inside the bathroom, wiping away the tears from her cheeks before putting on a blank expression.
