Chapter 200: Familiar figure
Raine didn’t give her quarry a chance to move as she quickly shot at Decan’s leg. She then moved to quickly pin the man down and lay down justice one fist at a time.
"Why did you do it, huh?" Raine growled as she pummeled the werewolf’s face, not giving him any inch to fight back. "Why resort to violence?"
Decan grunted as he took each punch square in the face. He was being pinned down, and he wasn’t being given the chance to move. However, he was still in the right as he answered the misguided woman on top of him.
"Your father left me no choice," he growled, already positioning himself to break free despite the injuries he was starting to accumulate. "We were supposed to talk about the peace treaty, but he attacked us first."
"What-"
Before Raine could ask any further, Decan suddenly moved with a burst of strength. Throwing her off, she quickly stood on her feet as looked up at the werewolf’s limp form.
"I have to protect my men. We didn’t even do anything to warrant such an attack," Decan panted. "If anything, you should be the one having to answer to us."
Raine twitched at the accusation, "You’re all mutants. Father must’ve known not to trust you."
"Believe what you will," the ’leader’ of the Convel Society scoffed. "We were only defending ourselves."
The Bloody-Eyed Hunter almost wanted to scream as she charged forward. She was about to reach her enemy when she felt a sudden tug on her hair, causing her to flip forward on lose her balance.
"Get your hand off him, you bitch!"
To Raine’s surprise, another werewolf had somehow slipped past her notice. Righting herself in the air, she delivered a swift kick to the newcomer, freeing her hair and allowing her to regain her bearings.
"Sasha! Be careful!" Decan shouted from behind her. "She’s King Marcus’s daughter!"
At the sound of her identity, the atmosphere in the room grew thicker as Raine suddenly found herself getting surrounded with nothing but her wits and her pistol. To her back, she could tell that Decan was already trying to run away, but she couldn’t do anything about it. Not when her own exit strategy was currently being jeopardized.
Where was that suppressing fire, Levi?!
"So you’re that King’s bitch daughter, eh," one of the mutants growled.
"You’ve been killing us nonstop!"
"We can finally pay your old man back!"
Raine steeled herself for a bitter fight. Three werewolves had her surrounded. Decan was long gone, but this Sasha had seemingly taken his place as the top dog in the current pack. It wasn’t ideal, but it was still doable.
"Come at me, then."
At her challenge, the werewolves lunged at her. Raine moved with grace and precision as she danced around the seemingly uncoordinated attacks being thrown at her. Using her pistol as a baton, she deftly smacked around the first two werewolves trying their best to sink their teeth into her.
"Is that all you’ve got?" Raine taunted as she seemingly knocked down one and aimed her gun at the other. "I suppose that’s it, then?"
Raine pulled the trigger, only for a click to be her gun’s only reply as it had already run out of bullets.
"Shit," she cursed. Of course now would be the right time for her pistol to run out of bullets.
Sensing another attack coming behind her, Raine raised her pistol to block the recovering werewolf. The mutant’s claws scratched at the metal, sparks flying as she redirected the blow to her side.
"Won’t work- UGGH!"
Pain...
The world seemed to move in slow motion as the shock of being hit caught her off-guard. The blossoming pain on her right side seemed to grow first, followed by the sudden feeling of weightlessness as she flew towards the nearby wall. It was shocking. Her entire right side felt like it had been hit by a truck. Looking up, the female werewolf stood in front of her, a sadistic smile on her face as she gloated.
"So this is the Bloody-Eyed Hunter? You’re actually Marcus’s daughter?"
Raine didn’t bother with a response as she quickly assessed her current situation. The two other werewolves were already recovering behind Sasha, and without a lethal weapon, she wouldn’t be able to outlast three of them at once.
"Not going to even waste my breath on me?"
Raine grunted as she felt a kick land on the left side of her body. She couldn’t move. Not out of pain, but out of necessity.
She didn’t have the upper hand.
"Lookie here... A spoiled princess for us to break," Sasha cooed, landing mocking kicks on the down woman in front of her. "Your Daddy’s not gonna save you now."
Raine bore the brunt of the attacks, steeling herself as she waited for the right opportunity. The mutants still had their full attention on her, and moving now would only invite a devastating parry that could actually kill her.
"Come on! Fight back!"
Raine clicked her tongue. Her patience was wearing thin, and she wasn’t seeing her window of opportunity yet!
More kicks and cheap shots rained across her body. Her muscles tensed in defense, her endurance being put to the test alongside her patience as her grip on her pistol almost made her right hand bleed.
"You know what? Let’s just get her to a bed and take her."
She blinked, quickly memorizing that particular werewolf’s voice. At least she had her first target now.
"Yeah. Just imagine having a princess! And she’s hot to boot!"
Okay, she was starting to really get impatient. She should probably just get it over with.
Opening her eyes, Raine caught the first foot that dared to attack her in her irate state. Twisting the man’s ankle, she was about to dispense a quick gender-reassignment surgery when a shadow of a man suddenly made its appearance.
Her eyes widened, her gaze searched the familiar figure... "Tyrone?!"
