Chapter 193: To live in peace

Tyrone stayed in the trial, witnessing the sudden turn of events brewing against Yun. Raine had succeeded and relayed that Yera was safely in their hands. Naturally, everything played out exactly as it was supposed to.

He had mixed emotions with how all the solid evidence pointed their fingers at Yun. Today would surely be the old man’s doom.

The judge gave the final verdict, and the accused was given the death sentence, ’to be hanged till death,’ effective immediately. Tyrone witnessed how Yun went haywire as he received his judgment.

Meanwhile, Xander was on cloud nine when he heard the verdict. He saw Yun’s eyes grow wide before his body eventually became limp as the reality that he couldn’t do anything to stop what was happening finally sank in.

Helpless, Yun started shouting, threatening everyone present around him. "If you all dare to kill me today, my brother will wake up and avenge my murder! All my loyal men will make sure to kill each and every family member of all the people present here!" he screamed hysterically. "You hear me?! You all still have time to leave me and let me go! Leave me, I say! I’m a prince of the Moon Clan! How can you all treat me like this?"

Tyrone could only shake his head. He watched as Xander approached Yun and said something to him. In seeming response, Yun fell to the ground, realizing that he would be unceremoniously killed by hanging. He would be hanged in that instant, with everyone present inside the courtroom as witness to his downfall.

Desperate, Yun’s eyes darted around the court before eventually landing at Tyrone. However, as he tried to approach him, the Mirage Trial officers grabbed the man and dragged him to the room where he would meet his verdict.

"Tyrone! Tell Raine to avenge me! No, tell her to come and rescue me!" Yun deliriously instructed. At this point, Tyrone knew that he was no longer himself...

Shaking his head, Tyrone approached Yun and, with a smirk, uttered, "What’s wrong? You should have seen this coming after all the crimes you committed. Do you really think Princess Raine will tolerate what you’ve done? She’s different from you or your brother."

Yun’s eyes widened as he yelled, "So it’s that bi*tch who double-crossed me?! I will kill that bit*ch!!! How dare she do this after what my brother did for her! She was as good as dead if not for my brother!!!"

Hearing his asinine threats, Tyrone casually leaned down to Yun’s ear. With gritted teeth, he whispered something to the man, making his face completely lose its color.

"You... You’ve deceived me all this time!?" Yun yelled out in disbelief, a mortified look consuming his face.

Tyrone had a smirk as he mocked, "It’s nothing too difficult. Like I said, you’re lucky you’re receiving such a light punishment like this. After all, you clearly deserve to suffer more."

Finally, the Council signaled the officers to bring Yun to the execution room that instant. With a scoff, Tyrone watched the guilty being dragged out to his inevitable demise. Without further ado, everyone watched as Yun was taken to the execution room and hanged on his neck till he died. Xander himself was there to check his pulse and vitals, and he was also the one to pronounce him as officially deceased as soon as the body was no longer breathing.

While everyone went back to the courtroom to have further discussions about Xander being the rightful heir of the Moon Clan, Tyrone stayed in the room and looked at Yun’s lifeless body. He had a grim expression as he whispered, "Consider yourself lucky that you met your doom like this... Or else, you would’ve definitely ended up torn into pieces with your flesh being fed to wild animals while you still have breath on you..."

Meanwhile, inside the courtroom, the Council’s representative made the announcement, "It has been proven that Xander Yang is the rightful and qualified heir to the Moon Clan."

It could’ve ended with just that. However, Xander refused to get involved in direct matters relating to the clan.

"I was here to get justice for the blood that had been spilled from my family and to make sure there will be no more bloodshed in the future. And while I’ve always had my own small army and a team of security personnel that made my assassination difficult even for Yun, I still have no desire for power or to run the world," Xander stated. "In truth, I just want to live in peace with my family. Though I know that I cannot completely forsake my connection to the clan, I want to make it clear that I would never press my claim as the leader of the Moon clan."

By the end of his speech, everyone in the room already understood what he meant in that he would still keep in touch with the clan. He would stay as one of the veto members for certain important decisions to be taken, but he would happily let the capable heir to the clan be the leader and become its king.

After which, Xander invoked what few rights he wanted as the supposed leader of the Moon Clan. He only had one request, and that was to change the filthy rules of the clan that have led to such a bloodbath within the family in the first place. He also wished to create stricter rules to not let such a thing happen ever again. He was fully ready to contribute to making all these amendments.

Upon hearing his words, the councils accepted Xander’s request and made a special arrangement for him and his family to be kept under the security of the Moon Clan. He was also given special voting rights within the clan that would eventually be passed down to further generations since it was their right as part of the royal family of the Moon Clan.
