Chapter 69: Don’t Get Blown Away
Chapter 69: Don’t Get Blown Away
RAIN LIGHTNING BOLTS!
"Spread out!! Don’t give it an easy target!!!" someone shouted, and we scattered once again, narrowly avoiding the electrifying onslaught.
ROAAARRR!!!
The first few hours, we performed admirably, successfully holding our ground against the Sky Dragon on an equal footing.
"Good job! Keep it up, everyone!"
"Yeah, we got this!"
"Keep holding on! Don’t give up! I’m sure the Sky Dragon boss will get exhausted soon!"
...
...
Another few more hours passed, yet the Sky Dragon still showed no signs of exhaustion, while we were almost reaching our limits— even Healers wouldn’t be of much help at this point.
At this moment, I was holding on to a tree for dear life; there were many times I almost fell off this floating island.
This damn Sky Dragon! Seriously, the amount of crowd control this boss monster has is insane! Especially those cyclones and hurricanes! Ugh, this is getting too much! I don’t know how much longer I can hold on before I run out of energy!
I couldn’t help but find myself helpless, as the Sky Dragon tirelessly soared through the sky, launching relentless attacks on us 24/7.
As I glanced up to check the enormous hologram board, the numbers of superhumans caught my attention:
[Total Superhumans Remaining: 749]
Approximately 251 superhumans have lost their lives—either by being pushed and fell off the floating island or directly killed by the Sky Dragon boss.
It seemed that only Ranged Classes could efficiently damage the Sky Dragon boss, while melee classes were at a massive disadvantage, needing to leap high into the sky just to attack the Sky Dragon, which proved to be inefficient.
Goddammit! If only the Sky Dragon stayed on the ground, it would’ve been so much easier for us to deal with it.
Furthermore, it was risky to leap high into the sky to attack the Sky Dragon. In mid-air, the Sky Dragon could easily blast us away, sending us falling off this floating island. And with how small this island was, one wrong move could send us right over the edge. If that happened, we’d end up in the ocean below, filled with deadly colossal sea monsters waiting to tear us apart. Because of this, everyone had to be extra careful, knowing that just one mistake could end our lives for good.
An additional hour passed; by now, at least 70% of the trees on this island had been blown away. This meant we only had about 30% of the trees left to grab onto and not fall off.
[Total Superhumans Remaining: 421]
"This fucking Sky Dragon! I wish it would stay on land so we can have an easier time attacking it!" someone shouted.
"Ugh, damn this final trial! It’s just simply way too hard to beat this Sky Dragon boss!" another muttered in frustration.
"Fuck! I don’t know what we can do anymore! Can we even beat this Sky Dragon boss to begin with?!" another voice added, his tone desperate.
...
...
Another few more hours passed...
[Total Superhumans Remaining: 112]
By this point, all the trees had been mercilessly swept away, leaving no support for us to cling to, except for a few remaining giant rocks.
ROAAARRR!!!
"Aaaaaaaahhh!!! Nooooooooo!!!" a superhuman was blown away by the Sky Dragon’s hurricane.
"Nooooooooo!!! Ah, I don’t wanna die!!! Please, save meeeee!!!" another superhuman shouted as well before being swept away by the powerful winds.
"Helpppppp me someone!!! Aaaaaaaaghhhhhhh!!!" another person yelled, her voice swallowed by the roaring storm.
***
With not much energy left to hold on to, one by one we were swept away by the force of the Sky Dragon’s hurricane.
Meanwhile, at the edge of this island, I clung to a massive rock, my fingers aching as I struggled to keep my grip. Below me, about 50,000 feet down, the vast, stunningly blue ocean stretched endlessly, its surface sparkling under the bright sunlight. The sight was both beautiful and terrifying, as I watched helplessly while those who had fallen into the ocean were mercilessly devoured by a horde of colossal, mythical sea monsters. The sea creatures rose from the depths like ancient titans, their jaws snapping shut with terrifying force, swallowing their prey without hesitation.
KRAARRRR!!!
"Noooooo!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaghhh!!!"
"Aaaaaaaaaaaarghh!!! Someone help meee!!!"
"Heeeelp meeee!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaahh!!! Don’t eat meeee!!!"
The sea monsters were just too powerful. There was nothing anyone could do but accept their inevitable death. The sight was hopeless, and even from so high up on this floating island, I could still hear the faint screams of those who had fallen. Their cries reached me just enough, distorted by the wind, but they were still there—agonizing echoes that seemed to hang in the air, a grim reminder of what was happening below.
Damn, that’s so scary. I couldn’t help but be grateful that I hadn’t fallen off this island yet.
Then as I glanced up to check the massive hologram board once more, I noticed the number of superhumans had decreased significantly.
[Total Superhumans Remaining: 7]
At this moment, the last remaining seven of us were clinging to the last giant piece of rock for dear life.
"Fucking hell! This Sky Dragon boss is too powerful, there’s no way we can beat it!"
"Yeah, this is fucking bullshit! It’s like the aliens want us to fail this final trial so badly!"
"Ugh, son of a bitch! I refuse to die here! Not at least until I get my revenge on those damn aliens!"
ROAAARRR!!!
...
A few more minutes passed...
By this point, the seven of us couldn’t hold on anymore and one by one we were swept away by the Sky Dragon’s powerful hurricane.
"Noooooo!!! I refuse to die here!!!"
"Aaaaaaaaaaaghhhh!!! I don’t wanna die yet!!!"
"Fuck you, alien bastards!!! I know you guys are watching us suffer just for your own entertainment!!!"
I could tell that no one was satisfied with the way they were dying. Everyone wanted to stay alive till the end, hoping that one day they could get their revenge on the aliens for putting us through hell—just for their so-called entertainment, or whatever twisted agenda they had.
...
...
Several more minutes passed, and eventually, only two superhumans remained—the mysterious Beastmaster guy and me.
