Chapter 44: Colossal T-Rex
Chapter 44: Colossal T-Rex
Just hearing the words "Colossal Sea Monsters" was enough to strike fear into all of us. No—forget about the sea monsters; merely surviving in the vast ocean alone was already terrifying enough. We had no clue how powerful those sea creatures might be, but there was no room for doubt. One thing was certain: if we fell from this colosseum, we would be as good as dead.
Even if, by some miracle, we managed to survive the fall, the ocean’s vastness—teeming with terrifying sea creatures and endless, unforgiving waters—meant survival was a slim chance, and it would only be a matter of time before we either ran out of energy fending off the relentless threats lurking beneath the surface or succumbed to hunger and thirst, unable to escape nature’s cruel grip.
That being said, even though I knew I wouldn’t die thanks to my regeneration ability, the pain of being eaten alive was definitely something I wouldn’t want to endure. After all, no matter how much I could recover, the agony of feeling my flesh torn apart and my body slowly consumed would be an experience I’d want to avoid at all costs. In short, I’m not afraid of death itself—not in the slightest—but rather, it’s the excruciating pain that comes with it.
After the alien soldiers announced the start of the second trial, they immediately left, leaving us here all alone. At this moment, in the center of this vast colosseum, a massive holographic board appeared once again, displaying the following message for everyone to see:
[Trial Two: Defeat the Colossal T-Rex within thirty minutes]
The hologram board lingered for about ten seconds before vanishing into thin air. As soon as it disappeared, an enormous 125-foot portal materialized, and what came out of it was a 100-foot-tall, Godzilla-sized T-Rex. The moment it stepped out of the portal, it immediately charged at us with terrifying speed. Its massive jaws hung open, drool glistening as it dripped from its razor-sharp teeth. There was no mistaking its intent—it was starving, and we were on its menu.
THUMP!!! THUMP!!! ROOAAARR!!!
"W-What the hell is that size?! That’s literally a goddamn Godzilla!" I said.
"No way! Is that thing for real?!"
"Fucking hell! This has to be a joke, right?!"
"Yeah, how in the world are we even supposed to fight that?! Shit, we’re screwed this time!"
I could see the fear in everyone’s eyes as they stared at the massive dinosaur, their faces pale and expressions tense. Everyone was terrified—everyone, except for Thorin, our party leader. While the rest of us were frozen in shock, Thorin stood tall, a grin stretching across his face as if he were excited rather than afraid. It was as if he welcomed the challenge, ready to tackle it gladly.
LEVEL SCAN!
Using my thoughts, I immediately turned on Level Scan to check the T-Rex’s level.
[Name: Colossal T-Rex]
[Level: 205]
Holy shit! It’s above level 200! Damn, looks like this is not going to be easy. Furthermore, not a single one of us in the party is above level 200. Well... I’m not sure how much of a power gap just five more levels creates, but I can already tell it’s going to be extremely challenging this time. Still, with seven of us, we have the advantage in numbers.
RUMBLE!
The ground shook as the Collosal T-Rex barreled toward us, its footsteps pounding like thunder. I could practically feel the air rippling from its massive size.
"Formation B!" Thorin shouted, breaking the silence.
We snapped into position without thinking—well, most of us did. I wasn’t exactly calm, but we had to do this. Thorin, our fearless leader, grinned like he was looking forward to this fight. The rest of us... not so much.
I glanced around at the team. Sylvara, the mage, was already muttering some spell under her breath, her hands glowing blue. Mara and Cain, our rogue and archer, split off to flank, leaving me to act as backup. I wasn’t sure how useful I’d be, but hey, I wasn’t planning to just stand around while a giant dinosaur came at us.
"Focus! Don’t let fear get to you and don’t screw this up!" Thorin shouted, his eyes locked on the Collosal T-Rex.
The Colossal T-Rex roared, shaking the whole colosseum even more.
Sylvara cast a lightning bolt, and it hit the Colossal T-Rex right in the chest. It barely flinched.
"Damn it, it barely flinched!" Sylvara said, swiping the sweat off her forehead.
Thorin, apparently not worried, rushed in and swung his greatsword, landing a solid hit on the Colossal T-Rex’s leg. The beast let out an angry roar, and suddenly it was snapping its huge jaws toward Thorin.
"I got this, Thorin! Leave it to me!" John yelled, rushing in to intercept. John’s blade clashed with its teeth, sending sparks flying as he shoved it aside.
Meanwhile, I stayed back to protect our only Healer, Sasha. Since I was too weak to deal any damage, joining the fight would only get in the way of others.
My main priority right now was keeping Sasha safe, as she couldn’t move while casting her healing or buffing spells. In short, my responsibility now was to protect her or, if necessary, move her to a safe spot or location if the T-Rex ever targeted her.
ROOAAARR!!!
At this moment, Thorin let out a loud roar, his voice echoing across the colosseum. "Greatsword Aura!" he yelled, and in an instant, his massive greatsword burst into bright red flames, the heat warping the air around him.
WHOOSH!
With fire in his eyes, he gripped the hilt and leaped high into the air, moving fast and with precision despite the weapon’s immense weight. Then, with a determined swing, he brought the sword down in a huge vertical slash, aiming to finish off the Colossal T-Rex in one move.
BOOOMMM!!!
And just like that, the Colossal T-Rex was defeated. Holy shit! Even though I stood a good distance away from Thorin, I could still feel the intense heat radiating from his massive greatsword. Damn, this guy is ridiculously strong!
Man, seriously though—if he was that powerful, why didn’t he finish off the T-Rex sooner? Ah, nevermind. He probably wanted to conserve energy for the next trial. Yeah, that’s probably it.
Anyway, great job, Thorin. Thank you. I’ll be forever grateful to you.
