Chapter 43: Final Trial Information

I see now—so that’s the reason why he’s mad at me. Well, he’s not wrong that I’m incredibly weak compared to the other S-Rank superhumans, but why is he blaming me? This whole situation happened because of the aliens in the first place, yet he decided to take out his frustration on me? Seriously, screw this guy.

"Well... what do you want me to say? Sorry for being a burden?" I said.

"Is that all you’ve got to say?! Do you even realize how much mana Sasha has been wasting just to heal trash like you?! If it weren’t for you, she could have healed and buffed the rest of us more, and things would’ve been much easier!" John said, clearly frustrated.

"I’m sorry, but why are you taking out your frustration on me? It’s not like I have a choice. The aliens are the reason why we’re in this mess, so maybe you should be blaming them instead of me," I replied.

Seriously, I don’t get what his problem is. He’s acting like this is all my fault, even though it’s completely out of my control. If anyone’s to blame, it’s the damn aliens who threw us into this mess.

Meanwhile, looking at the others, they don’t seem to mind having me in their party. It seems like John is the only one who has a problem here. Well, I guess he’s probably just one of those jerks who enjoy bullying the weak—the classic villain type in most stories.

PUNCH!

Out of anger, John landed a hard punch to my face, instantly sending me flying about twenty meters before I crashed to the ground.

THUD!

Ugh! That fucking hurts! Damn, a punch from an S-Rank superhuman is no joke... I could barely catch my breath as the pain coursed through my head and limbs. The most terrifying part? John hadn’t even used his full strength when he hit me. Even so, he had sent me flying as if I were nothing more than a leaf caught in a gust of wind. The raw power behind that punch was insane.

Before I could even regain my footing, I felt a soft warmth enveloping me. Sasha had cast her healing spell, and the pain immediately began to fade away, replaced by a comforting sense of relief. It was like magic, the way the healing energy flowed through me, stitching up my wounds and easing my muscles.

Ah, what a soothing sensation.

Man, Sasha must be some kind of saint. She’s truly the epitome of compassion and empathy. I hadn’t even asked her to help me, yet there she was, without hesitation, taking the initiative to heal me. It was as if my well-being mattered to her more than anything else at this moment. It was the kind of kindness that couldn’t be faked, a rarity in a world full of selfishness.

Her eyes were focused, a soft determination in her expression as she worked, and I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude. I couldn’t help but wonder: What drives her to be so selfless in a world where people are often too consumed by their own problems to care for others? Is that trait part of being a Healer? I wonder. If it is, I guess that probably explains why she chose to be a Healer. Well, whatever the reason is, I’m still grateful to her.

"Alright, that’s enough!" Thorin, the party leader, shouted, his voice full of anger.

"Tch! You got lucky this time! If it weren’t for our party leader stepping in, I would’ve killed you long ago!" John spat, turning around and walking away in anger.

Phew... Thankfully, Thorin stepped in to protect me.

I quickly got to my feet, brushed myself off, and bowed my head toward Thorin in gratitude. Then I turned to Sasha, offering a small bow and said, "Thank you for healing me, Sasha."

Well, I guess I’m still not strong enough yet to challenge an S-Rank superhuman. I wonder how much stronger I need to be to stand a chance against one. Even though my stats are fairly high, I’m guessing it’s probably because I lack proper equipment or gear.

Also, from what I can remember, in most video games, being at a high level isn’t the only thing that makes you stronger. Having powerful weapons, armor, or just good gear in general can also significantly boost your overall stats. In my case, I don’t have any powerful gear to enhance my stats, and on top of that, I’m greatly underleveled. At least, compared to other superhumans.

Welp, for now, let’s try to focus on reaching S-Rank level first. Once I achieve that, I’ll be able to protect myself from any hostile superhumans.

...

...

Unaware of how much time had passed, we were suddenly interrupted when the otherworldly portal appeared again. Moments later, the alien soldiers stepped out of it, their imposing presence marking that the next trial was about to start.

The alien soldier at the very front spoke up. "Wakey wakey! Rest time is over!"

The alien continued, "Alright, I’m not going to explain what the next trial is about since the first four trials are pretty easy to clear. But what I really want to talk about is the 5th trial or the final trial. This is where the real challenge starts, and it’s also where most superhumans lose their lives."

"So let me give you some information and tips for the final trial. In the final trial, all the colosseum walls will be removed, and you’ll be fighting a boss monster called the "Sky Dragon." Now, here’s the tricky part: with the colosseum walls gone, you’re more likely to get knocked or blown off the edge. And if you fall off this colosseum, you’ll be as good as dead, because below about 50,000 feet down is a vast ocean teeming with powerful colossal sea monsters. My advice? Try not to fall off, and focus on defeating the boss monster. Alright, that’s all I have to say. The second trial starts now!"
