Chapter 103: John’s Escape
"Y-You!!! Who the hell are you?!! Why do you look like me?!!" I said, totally shocked.

John wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and grinned secretly as he leaned back in his chair. The heavy tension in the room was almost suffocating, but he played along, keeping his expression relaxed.
Nebulon watched John with a smirk, fingers drumming against the table, clearly enjoying every second of this moment. The alien soldiers stood at attention behind him, motionless and silent, like statues waiting for orders.
"Ahhh, that was amazing!" John said, stretching his arms as if he was completely at ease. "This might be one of the best meals I’ve ever had in a long time!"
"Haha! I’m glad you enjoyed it!" Nebulon grinned, raising his glass to drink his red wine. "Consider this a parting gift before you return to your world."
"Thank you, your majesty," John said, his tone respectful as he bowed his head slightly.
Nebulon’s face lit up with a broad smile. "Now, now, don’t hesitate and eat more! If it’s not enough, there’s always more in the kitchen," he insisted, gesturing toward the table piled with food, his voice full of warmth and encouragement.
John chuckled softly, glancing at the spread of food before him. "Thank you, but I’m really full right now," he said with a smile. "However, I wouldn’t mind some dessert, though."
"Haha! Of course, go ahead! Help yourself!" Nebulon replied, gesturing toward the dessert with a wave of his hand.
John chuckled, his fingers casually brushing against the handle of one of his hidden daggers. "Thank you. If that’s the case, I’ll take this blueberry cake."
Then, in the blink of an eye—
John moved.
WHOOSH!
His hand snapped up, launching a dagger straight toward Nebulon’s throat. It was fast, almost instantaneous, but—
CLANG!
The sound of metal striking metal echoed through the dining hall.
John’s eyes narrowed.
One of the alien soldiers had intercepted the dagger, their inhuman reflexes allowing them to react in time. The blade was caught between two fingers, motionless, as if frozen in the air.
Furthermore, these weren’t just your average alien soldiers; they were alien royal guards, personally chosen by King Nebulon. In other words, they were incredibly high-level, equipped with far more advanced armor and superior weapons. Unfortunately, John had underestimated them, and there was no turning back now.
"Tch!" John clicked his tongue, already on his feet.
"Seriously? Did you really think that it would be that easy?" Nebulon sighed, shaking his head with disappointment. "John, John, John... I expected more from you..."
John didn’t respond. Without hesitation, he flipped over the table and threw a second dagger at Nebulon’s face, going for his second attempt.
CLANG!
This time, the alien soldier didn’t intercept; instead, the barrier shield instantly activated on its own. The dagger slammed into it, rebounding violently before crashing to the ground.
Seeing what happened, Nebulon exhaled dramatically. "You disappoint me, John."
John landed gracefully, not bothering to listen to Nebulon’s words as he already prepared his next move, but Nebulon’s alien soldiers were faster. Before he could react, they lunged at him from all sides.
WHOOSH!
John twisted his body, dodging a clawed hand aimed at his throat. His foot slammed into the chest of one of the alien soldiers, sending them staggering backward. The soldier crashed into a nearby table, food scattering across the floor. But before John could catch his breath and regain his footing, another soldier was already closing in, its glowing eyes locked on him with deadly intent.
’Goddammit! I can’t win this! There are too many of them coming at me!’ John thought, realizing he was in deep trouble. No time to hesitate. He knew he couldn’t stay here any longer and immediately decided to flee.
In an instant, dark energy enveloped John’s body, swirling around him like a living shadow. With a focused thought, he activated the Shadow Gate.
A vortex of pure darkness erupted beneath John, forming a swirling portal that distorted the air with its sheer presence. The void expanded rapidly, pulling in the surrounding light as the edges of reality twisted and warped. A cold, oppressive chill swept through the space, and for a brief moment, it felt as if the entire world was being swallowed by the abyss.
Nebulon’s eyes widened slightly. "Oh? So you’d rather run than die here, huh?"
John gritted his teeth, locking eyes with Nebulon as he slowly sank into the portal. "My revenge isn’t over yet! Next time if we meet again, you’ll regret not killing me when you had the chance!" He let out a dark laugh, his voice echoing as the portal swallowed him whole. And just like that, he was gone—vanished without a trace.
BLINK!
However, even after John was gone, traces of dark energy still lingered in the air. That was when Nebulon shouted, "Everyone, back off! Stay away from that black shadow, or you’ll be cursed for the rest of your life!"
Although Nebulon didn’t fully understand what John had done, he could sense the dark energy from the black portal was dangerously powerful. His thousands of years of experience and battle instinct told him that anyone who came into contact with it would be cursed forever. The energy was that potent. After all, it was John’s most powerful skill, which explained its overwhelming strength.
Immediately, all the alien royal soldiers backed off, taking at least ten steps away from the lingering dark energy that still hung in the air.
BAAAMMM!!!
It was at this moment, Nebulon smashed the dining table into pieces out of anger. He hadn’t expected John to pull such a move. Had he known, he would have killed and absorbed John earlier. Nebulon’s fury only grew as he remembered John’s words—that he would regret not acting sooner and faster.
"Fucking son of a bitch!!!" Nebulon yelled, frustration pouring out. "What the hell was I thinking?!! Why the fuck did I play with my food?!! Fuck!!! I should’ve killed him earlier when I had the chance!!! Ugh, goddammit!!!"
Furthermore, Nebulon also knew a great deal about black magic, which was why he had no choice but to let John escape. After all, there wasn’t much he could do anyway—the dark energy coming from the portal was simply too dangerous to touch, let alone be near it, and he wasn’t willing to risk getting cursed by it either.
