Chapter 101: Nebulon & John Crimson

Beneath the grand throne room lay a massive underground medieval dungeon, a top-secret place known only to King Nebulon and his alien soldiers—completely hidden from the superhumans. While it might be an alien spaceship, King Nebulon was born in a world of sword and magic, so he tended to prefer a medieval or fantasy-style architecture.

This underground dungeon was where Nebulon secretly absorbed his livestock. Naturally, afterward, he would consume their bodies, as he was a cannibal. Unfortunately, Nebulon wasn’t a saint. Even back in his own world, he had been a wicked criminal, taking pleasure in harming others and even studying black magic.

Of course, he did all of this in secret to avoid causing panic among the superhumans. If any of them discovered his sinister plan, many would rather commit suicide than allow themselves to be absorbed by Nebulon.

"Hahaha!" Nebulon laughed, in a really good mood today. Despite being in an underground dungeon, everything here still looked clean and well-maintained—all thanks to the alien soldiers for doing such a great job in managing this place.

Actually, this underground dungeon felt more like a massive hidden mansion rather than a prison, with a vast expanse of rooms spread out across it. Nebulon, comfortably seated at a massive dining table in the dining hall, tapped his fingers impatiently on the table’s surface.

"Alright, I’m getting hungry now. Go bring my food quickly!" he commanded one of the six alien soldiers standing behind him, his tone sharp and impatient, his hunger for both food and the chance to absorb John growing stronger by the second.

"Yes, Your Majesty!" one of the alien soldiers replied, quickly turning around and rushing off to carry out the order.

...

...

Not long after, John Crimson arrived at the dining hall where Nebulon had been waiting for him.

"Haha! Welcome, John! Please, have a seat!" Nebulon said with a grin, clearly excited.

The dining table was piled high with an array of luxurious, high-quality food—meats, fruits, and more, all prepared by the alien chefs.

John, looking very confused, couldn’t help but ask, "W-What’s the meaning of this? Why did you call me here?"

"Seriously, just shut up and stop asking questions!" Nebulon snapped, sounding annoyed. "Oops, forgive my anger! Alright, sit down. I’ll explain everything later. For now, just eat and enjoy the food we’ve made for you. Once you’re done, I have something important to discuss with you. Well, just consider it your reward for reaching SSS-Rank."

Hearing that, John forced a smile, pretending to look happy. All along, he had been aware of Nebulon’s true intentions. John wasn’t some naïve fool. From the start, he’d sensed something was off, and over the course of his long stay on this colossal spaceship, he had come to understand the kind of person Nebulon truly is—manipulative, cold, and ruthless. John knew he was never meant to leave this place alive, let alone being sent back to his world.

John knew Nebulon was just giving the superhumans false hope all this time, claiming that if they worked hard and remained obedient, they would be rewarded by being sent back to their worlds. But in reality, John understood the truth—Nebulon only wanted to make his livestock grow stronger so he could absorb them for his own gain.

Well, actually John wasn’t the only one who knew. In fact, quite a number of superhumans had already suspected Nebulon’s sinister plan. But even if they did know, what could they possibly do about it?

Sure, they could commit suicide to end their suffering, but their prideful nature and the hope of someday getting revenge sadly kept them going until now. Because of pride, they chose to live and press on, despite the slim chances of success.

"Well, I don’t know what to say, but thank you very much for the food!" John said, acting excited and happy once again. However, his guard was always up. He had already planned to use this moment to kill Nebulon, even though the chances of succeeding were very low.

Still, John figured he had to try. If it didn’t work, he might have to use his last trump card to escape. The escape was guaranteed, as it was considered one of the most powerful dark magic skills in his world: opening a black portal to flee. The downside of this black magic was that John would permanently lose 50% of his total power or levels, meaning he would no longer be SSS-Rank and would probably drop to B-Rank level or lower.

However, John didn’t care about losing his power permanently. To him, staying alive was more important than being absorbed by Nebulon. After all, he could always grind and grow stronger again in the future. In any case, what concerned him the most was that if he died now, it would be game over forever with no chance of coming back.

...

John sat down at the table, his back straight and his hands steady, despite the constant rush of adrenaline coursing through his veins. The food in front of him looked incredibly delicious, too perfect to be real—meats glistening with sauces, fruits that seemed unnaturally vibrant. The overwhelming scent of it all filled the air, but he knew, despite everything, he couldn’t afford to be distracted.

MUNCH! MUNCH! MUNCH! NOM! NOM! NOM!

"Haha! Good! Eat, eat, eat!" Nebulon urged, clearly taking pleasure in watching John eat aggressively.

John didn’t hesitate. It had been such a long time since he’d had the chance to eat such delicious and high-quality food.

John grabbed a piece of meat, his fingers tightening around it, knowing full well that each bite could be his last. His instincts screamed at him to stay cautious at all times and, just in case, to act before Nebulon’s twisted game went any further.

"That’s right! Eat more! After all, we won’t be seeing each other again once you leave and return to your world. So let’s enjoy this meal together while we can. Hahaha!" Nebulon said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

’Tch! Just you wait, Nebulon! You’ll definitely die here by my hand today!’ John thought, his mind already set on his plan. As soon as he finished eating, he would strike with no hesitation and no mercy. The moment was drawing closer, and there was no turning back now. He could feel it in his bones. He was ready to make his move the moment the time was right.
