Chapter 78: OTHERWORDLY CREATURE?

Chapter 78: OTHERWORDLY CREATURE?

Chen Yu exhaled sharply as the Orc King collapsed before him, its massive body slamming into the earth with a thunderous crash. The heavy silence that followed was broken by the familiar chime of the system.

[System Notification]

You have defeated the [SSS-Rank Elite Boss: Orc King].

Stat Points Gained: +5

You have defeated 5 Orcs.

Stat Points Gained: +5

Total Points Available: 10

Chen Yu blinked.

"...Only ten stat points? I just crushed a damn boss." He scoffed, brushing blood from the corner of his mouth. "Tch. I was expecting at least a rare item drop or something absurdly broken."

He glanced around—still no loot chest. No weapons. Just silence and the scent of blood and ash.

"Whatever," he muttered. "Let’s just move forward."

Just as he took a step, the system flared red with urgency.

[Emergency Quest Triggered]

A foreign entity has breached the Anomaly Zone.

Objective: Eliminate the Otherworldly Creature

Reward: 50 Stat Points + Eye of Truth (Passive Skill)

Time Limit: None – Begin immediately

Faliure : DEATH

The screen pulsed crimson, an ominous warning flashing below.

Warning: Target possesses unknown abilities. Proceed with extreme caution.

Chen Yu’s expression darkened and death?

"Otherworldly creature...? So now I’m dealing with that too?"

He looked up at the dark sky, the clouds swirling unnaturally as if the zone itself was reacting to the new presence.

"This world’s shifting because of me. The balance is changing... and now, so are the enemies."

[Elsewhere – Deep within the Anomaly Zone]

A ruined battlefield stretched across the desolate land. Cracked bones, scorched soil, and shattered weapons littered the ground. The air shimmered faintly—reality warping around the presence of a single being.

A humanoid figure stood silently amidst the destruction. Neither human nor monster, its skin was pale like ash, its eyes glowing with ethereal blue light, and its aura was unnatural—silent, yet infinitely suffocating.

In front of the figure stood an enraged orc—twice the size of the King Chen Yu had defeated, muscles bulging, veins glowing red, its entire body in a Frenzy Mode.

The orc roared, pounding its chest before lunging forward. Its claws extended, glowing with dark energy, aiming to tear the creature in half with a single brutal strike.

But then—

The world blinked.

In less than a breath, the humanoid figure vanished from its spot.

No teleportation spell. No flash of light.

Just... speed.

A glint flashed through the air.

The next instant, the orc’s head separated cleanly from its shoulders, blood spraying in a high arc before the massive body fell forward with a crash that shook the ground.

The creature didn’t even look back.

Its hand, still extended, slowly lowered as the blade it had drawn vanished into particles of blue light.

No emotion. No movement.

Only silence remained.

[Back With Chen Yu]

Still unaware of what awaited him, Chen Yu continued pushing through the thick mist of the Anomaly Zone, each step taking him closer to a threat like none he’d ever faced before.

His instincts stirred.

Something was coming.

Something... not of this world.

The deeper Chen Yu ventured into the mist-shrouded Anomaly Zone, the more unsettling the silence became. A strange stillness blanketed the battlefield like a suffocating shroud. No monster roars. No cries of pain. Just... silence.

Then he saw it.

"...What the hell?"

His boots came to a sudden halt as his eyes widened.

Littered across the path ahead were more than ten orc corpses—massive, muscular creatures that should’ve taken an army to bring down. Each one lay sprawled in grotesque poses, their heads cleanly severed, no sign of a struggle. No burns. No blunt damage. Just clean, precise executions.

"I didn’t do this," Chen Yu muttered under his breath. "And they don’t fight each other to death like this either..."

He crouched near one of the corpses, inspecting the wound. The cut was impossibly smooth—smoother than anything a normal weapon could’ve delivered. Like a blade sharper than space itself had sliced through them in an instant.

Then he spotted more bodies further down the ravaged terrain. Every few meters, another decapitated orc. The pattern was unmistakable.

Someone... or something... had torn through this place like death incarnate.

Suddenly, a sharp pressure pricked at the back of Chen Yu’s neck. His instincts screamed danger. Without thinking, he ducked behind a massive rock formation, holding his breath.

A faint distortion appeared in the mist.

Then—he saw it.

A creature... humanoid in form but disturbingly alien. Its body radiated an eerie calmness, and its skin seemed ashen and lifeless under the grey sky. Its eyes glowed with a tranquil, unnatural blue, and in its hand was a blade made of pure energy, pulsing with restrained violence.

Chen Yu squinted from behind cover.

"That’s... not human."

Just then, an enraged orc head, a brutal leader-class variant, charged the figure. It roared with enough force to crack the air and lunged, claws gleaming with darkened frenzy energy.

But what happened next shocked Chen Yu to his core.

Five seconds.

That’s all it took.

In a blur too fast for even Chen Yu to follow, the creature had already moved.

By the time Chen Yu registered what was happening, the orc’s body was on its knees—and its head rolled lifelessly to the ground. The glowing blade dissolved as if it had never existed. The creature stood still, untouched, unbothered.

The system screen abruptly flared before Chen Yu.

[Analyzing Target...]

Name: Kobalt

Class: ???

Rank: SRR

"SRR?! What kind of broken rank is that? That’s above SSS!" Chen Yu’s blood ran cold. "I was struggling against the Orc King, and this thing is wiping out elite orcs like they’re paper dolls..."

He instinctively took a step back, preparing to retreat silently.

But then—

[System Alert]

Target identified: Kobalt – Otherworldly Creature

[Emergency Quest: Active]

Objective: Defeat Kobalt

Reward: 50 Stat Points + Eye of Truth (Passive Skill)

Failure: Death

Chen Yu’s face paled.

"What... I have to fight that?"

Panic flared in his chest. His thoughts spiraled.

"Fight that thing? That’s suicide. I don’t even know what it is. I don’t have a plan. I barely have any stats. This isn’t a battle—it’s an execution."

But just then, another notification rang out—this time not from the system, but from deep within his soul.

[Void]:

Tch. Who are you trembling before, brat?

[End of All Beings]:

So now you’re panicking? Didn’t we gift you power beyond mortals? Use it!

[Peace Among All Beings]:

Kid, my power is still untouched. You haven’t used me once. Try it. You might not be as helpless as you think.

Their voices boomed in his mind, ancient, powerful, and irritated.

"I don’t even know what that thing is," Chen Yu whispered through gritted teeth. "It’s called Kobalt. That’s all I know..."

All three entities fell silent for a beat.

Then came a reaction that chilled him more than anything.

[Void]:

...What did you say?

[End of All Beings]:

Kobalt? Here? You must be joking.

[Peace Among All Beings]:

That shouldn’t be possible. What’s a Kobalt doing on this planet... now?

Their usually cocky, mocking tones had shifted. This time, they sounded disturbed.

[Void]:

He’s an infant. That’s the only explanation. If he were an adult, you’d be dead already.

[End of All Beings]:

Even as an infant, Kobalts are known for one thing—speed. Pure, absurd, unmatchable speed.

[Peace Among All Beings]:

Brat, listen carefully—run. You’re not ready. Not even close. You can’t face him yet.

Chen Yu clenched his fists, heart pounding like a drum in his chest. He peeked over the rock.

Kobalt stood there still. Unmoving. Like a statue made of death itself.

"...I have to run," Chen Yu whispered.

But his foot refused to move.

Because deep inside him... another voice whispered something darker:

Or do you want to test your limits?

Chen Yu’s hands trembled slightly as he pressed his back against the cold stone behind him, heart thudding like a war drum. The voices in his head had gone silent now, leaving only his own breath and the faint hum of power in the air.

He couldn’t run.

No, that wasn’t an option anymore.

He knew it the moment the system labeled the mission: Failure: DEATH.

"If I don’t fight..." he whispered to himself, "...I die."

He closed his eyes for a moment, forcing his thoughts into order.

"Then I have no choice. I have to fight."

Every part of his being screamed at him to flee, to turn back, to find another way. But none existed. This wasn’t just about survival anymore—it was a test. One he couldn’t afford to fail.

His eyes slowly opened, gleaming with a quiet fury.

"Fine. I’ll take you on, monster."

But even with that surge of courage, Chen Yu wasn’t foolish. He knew what he was up against.

Kobalt.

An SRR-ranked creature. A being fast enough to slice through a head-class orc before the beast could even react. If brute strength or speed were the answer, Chen Yu would already be dead. He needed something more.

"A strategy..."

He knelt down and drew quick symbols in the dirt with his finger, mapping distances and angles.

"He’s too fast for a head-on clash. Even if I activate [Dominion Aura] or channel void energy, I’ll barely be able to react."

His gaze sharpened as a plan began to form.

"...Teleportation."

Yes. He had the skill. It wasn’t perfect, but it was something. A unique ability that could let him shift locations in an instant—his only hope of staying alive.

"I can use teleportation... but it burns 30 mana per jump. I only have 300 mana total. That means I get ten precise uses. No mistakes. No second chances."

He looked down at his trembling hands and clenched them into fists.

"One mistake, and I’m dead."

But even as he acknowledged the danger, the fire in his eyes only grew.

"If I calculate the timing, distance, and flow of battle... I can make every teleport count."

He looked ahead again. The path leading to Kobalt was a straight line surrounded by crumbled ruins and dead orcs. Perfect terrain for baiting, vanishing, and flanking—if he played it right.

If.

He exhaled slowly, then stood up, brushing dirt from his knees. His body was still bruised from the fight with the Orc King. His mana reserves weren’t full. His health was below maximum.

But none of that mattered.

"I’ve been given power from entities even I don’t fully understand... and I’m still standing." His voice steadied as he stepped out from behind the rock, exposing himself to the battlefield. "Now it’s time to prove I’m worthy of it."

He raised his hand and summoned the system screen, focusing his thoughts.

[Skill Activated: Teleportation Ready]

[Current Mana: 300/300]

[Uses Remaining: 10]

Blue light flickered faintly around his form, the magic already beginning to hum with kinetic tension.

He stared forward into the fog where Kobalt stood.

A chill wind brushed past him, lifting dust into the air. The corpses at his feet reminded him again—this was death territory.

And yet...

His lips curled into a smirk.

"Let’s see just how fast you really are, Kobalt."

He took a step forward—

Then another—

Each one more confident than the last.

There was no running anymore.

There was only one way forward.

A battle between fate and fury.

And Chen Yu... was ready to gamble everything.
