Chapter 58: Chapter 58 Oh My God, Your Parents Didn’t Die There, Did They?

"Let Ah Lin accompany you there one more time," Seo Zhenzhen’s face lost some of its brightness, but she remained unhurried, making Cheng Zhiwei look like a disheveled madwoman.

"Seo Zhenzhen, you will get your comeuppance," Cheng Zhiwei’s lips quivered, and thinking of her parents suffering in the harsh conditions of the Northwest, her heart bled.

Seo Zhenzhen’s gaze was calm, or perhaps she was inwardly pleased, but she feigned an unruffled demeanor because it more effectively agitated Cheng Zhiwei.

"Zhiwei, I’ll try to persuade Ah Lin to go there once more for you, after all, you’re right, they sponsored me, and they are my benefactors," she said.

The word "benefactors" was said with extreme sarcasm.

Cheng Zhiwei’s eyes reddened, and she slapped Seo Zhenzhen across the face.

"Slap."

The sound was crisp.

That slap had been three years overdue.

Seo Zhenzhen turned her cheek slightly but maintained her bland expression. Touching her cheek, she said softly, "I’m sorry."

Such pretense.

Cheng Zhiwei was so angry her chest heaved, and her fingers trembled. As she lifted her arm to strike again, someone grabbed her from behind, stopping the blow.

Zhou Lin’s face was ashen, and he fiercely freed Cheng Zhiwei’s hand, even causing her to stagger before she steadied herself.

His piercing question was like a barrage, "Cheng Zhiwei, what are you doing?"

Cheng Zhiwei, red-eyed with rage, didn’t say a word, rushing to fight Seo Zhenzhen. She had had enough three years ago, and now, she could no longer hold back.

Zhou Lin firmly held her, his strong arm encircling her waist, and dragged her away from Seo Zhenzhen.

Seo Zhenzhen only used a look of sorrow and helplessness to gaze at Cheng Zhiwei, as if Cheng Zhiwei was being unreasonably troublesome,

"Ah Lin, be gentle, don’t hurt Zhiwei," Seo Zhenzhen urged with a tone of forbearance, "She’s just upset because things didn’t work out. Accompany her back to the school once more."

Zhou Lin’s brows scrunched up tightly, "No matter what, you can’t just come here and go crazy."

"Don’t blame her," Seo Zhenzhen demurred graciously and gently, shaking her head, "Her parents have been reported, and she’s very worried. Go to the school and see the principal again; help her."

Her gentleness and generosity only made Cheng Zhiwei appear even crazier.

Zhou Lin gave Cheng Zhiwei a deep look, "Apologize to Zhenzhen, and I’ll call the principal."

Cheng Zhiwei was seething, hate nearly crystallizing in her eyes, "Apologize to her, as if she deserves it?"

Zhou Lin’s expression turned utterly dark, his thin lips pursed as he pulled Cheng Zhiwei out of the sickroom and flung her hand away violently; she hit the wall before stabilizing herself.

"Cheng Zhiwei, your parents don’t know whom they’ve offended to be reported, what does this have to do with Zhenzhen? Coming here to bother her, are you sick in the head?"

Cheng Zhiwei, leaning against the wall, laughed sarcastically, "Who else could my parents have offended, if not Seo Zhenzhen? She wrote the report letter."

"Zhenzhen couldn’t possibly do such a thing," Zhou Lin unhesitatingly defended her innocence.

He thought again, as it also involved an uncle he had known since childhood and said, "I’ll have Secretary Zhang... Forget it, I’ll go there myself one more time, are you satisfied now?"

He started walking away, but after a few steps, he realized Cheng Zhiwei hadn’t moved at all and was still in the same position, leaning against the wall. For a moment, he saw something in her that looked utterly dejected.

A wave of emotions surfaced within him, he walked back, and spoke with a softer tone, "Cheng Zhiwei, seeing you’ve made sense this time and didn’t trouble Zhuzhu, I’ll take care of this. But you must not go looking for Zhenzhen in the future."

He thought he had already made enough concessions.

But to Cheng Zhiwei, every single sentence he uttered was slicing through her nerves, tormenting her heart with each and every cut.

Cheng Zhiwei clenched her fists tightly, her headache intensified, and her surging emotions had reached their limit. She really wanted to ask Zhou Lin if he thought he was being generous. Did he know that his attitude was truly disgusting?

The emotions in her chest were about to explode, but she could not let them out because she still needed to ask Zhou Lin to go to the school and bring her parents back.

She struggled to suppress them.

Seeing that Cheng Zhiwei remained motionless, Zhou Lin grew impatient again. Just as the elevator arrived, he turned and entered, holding the door open, planning to give Cheng Zhiwei ten seconds. If she still didn’t know what was good for her, he would not concern himself with her ever again.

Cheng Zhiwei felt heavy, yet she had no choice but to move her feet toward the elevator.

She couldn’t afford not to go.

Just then, Bai Zhuzhu’s maliciously sarcastic voice rang out not far away, "Cheng Zhiwei, I heard your parents were transferred by the school to the Northwest, to an especially remote mountain area, right? Oh my, your parents won’t die there, will they?"

Cheng Zhiwei’s already taut nerves "buzzed" and snapped. She violently raised her head to look at Bai Zhuzhu, fury in her eyes.

Taken aback by the reaction, Bai Zhuzhu realized she had hit a sore spot for Cheng Zhiwei and became excited, "Why are you looking at me like that? Did I say something wrong? If your parents die in the Northwest, it would be your fault. Tsk tsk tsk, it’s truly pitiful to think about, at their age, and still suffering because of you."

Her triumphant cursing was completely oblivious to the fact that Zhou Lin was listening.

Cheng Zhiwei’s fingertips dug into the wall, forcefully breaking her nails. She threw her bag on the ground and started walking towards Bai Zhuzhu.

Today, she was determined to tear Bai Zhuzhu’s mouth apart.

Zhou Lin in the elevator reacted faster, grabbing Cheng Zhiwei by the shoulders and pulling her into his embrace. A dark anger exploded in his eyes, "Bai Zhuzhu, what are you saying?"

Bai Zhuzhu’s face turned pale instantly; she had no idea Zhou Lin was there.

"Brother Lin, I..."

The door to the hospital room was suddenly flung open, and Seo Zhenzhen sat in a wheelchair. She faced them with a cold expression, sternly scolding, "Bai Zhuzhu, who asked you to spout nonsense here?"

Bai Zhuzhu, scolded by both Zhou Lin and Seo Zhenzhen, lost her temper as well, and blurted out, "I didn’t say anything wrong, if it wasn’t for her causing your..."

"Enough, Bai Zhuzhu," Seo Zhenzhen snapped sharply, "Push me in."

"I..." Bai Zhuzhu was reluctant.

"I said push me in," Seo Zhenzhen chastised even more sternly. "Are you not even listening to me, your sister, now?"

Bai Zhuzhu pouted and pushed Seo Zhenzhen into the room.

As soon as they entered the hospital room, Seo Zhenzhen yanked Bai Zhuzhu’s clothes, and Bai Zhuzhu instinctively bent over. With a "slap," she was struck hard across the face by Seo Zhenzhen.

"Fool." She could no longer maintain the image of a good sister, glaring at Bai Zhuzhu venomously.

Bai Zhuzhu covered her face, hopping in disbelief, "You hit me?"

Seo Zhenzhen couldn’t be bothered to speak, she just pointed to the door, indicating for Bai Zhuzhu to get out.

Bai Zhuzhu ran out crying.

Cheng Zhiwei was embraced by Zhou Lin all the way to the underground parking lot. Her gaze was dull, her complexion pale, a few strands of her long hair clung to her face, which looked lifeless, yet it also seemed as if she was holding back to the extreme, on the verge of explosion at any moment.
