Chapter 231: Hope You Take Care of Yourself

Chapter 231: Chapter 231: Hope You Take Care of Yourself

The hospital corridor was cold and desolate, with chill creeping up from the soles of the feet.

Cheng Zhiwei leaned against the wall, her gaze lowered, staring at her own toes, Zhou Lin had rescued Seo Zhenzhen from the car accident, this truth heavily pressed against her chest.

He said he had nothing to do with Seo Zhenzhen, but he kept showing concern for her, again and again, and now he had even risked his life for her.

It was laughable.

Just then, the light in the operating room went out, and Zhang Yuanheng came out, "No serious injuries, just needs to be hospitalized for observation for a while."

Cheng Zhiwei nodded and followed him to the ward, Secretary Zhang had already sent some daily necessities, "If you need anything else, just say the word, and I will arrange it."

"Alright." Cheng Zhiwei agreed.

Secretary Zhang saw her sitting dumbly on the sofa, pale-faced, and comforted her in a low voice, "President Zhou was meant to pick you up, but Miss Seo was taken away by Third Grand Master’s people...

"I know," Cheng Zhiwei interrupted Secretary Zhang’s explanation and asked flatly, "Is Miss Seo hurt?

"Miss Seo was just scared, she has been taken away by Young Master He."

"I know now; after all this hassle, you go back and rest," said Cheng Zhiwei.

She was still Zhou Lin’s wife, though this man had his accident for another woman, she had to stay here.

It wasn’t that she wanted to stay by his side, but Zhou Lin’s status was different now; if news of his car accident spread, it would cause a stir, leading to unnecessary trouble.

At this stage, they couldn’t even hire a nurse, and she had to stay personally, at least until he woke up.

Cheng Zhiwei awaited Zhou Lin’s IV to finish, then wrapped a blanket around herself and curled up on the sofa, watching the face on the bed that, though eyes closed, had pronounced edges, feeling somewhat empty inside.

After spacing out for a while, she dozed off dazedly.

Upon waking, it was to a sudden sensation of weightlessness as her body jerked.

She quickly awoke, facing a pair of pitch-black eyes.

Zhou Lin had picked her up.

Her eyebrows furrowed, she jumped down from his arms, her gaze sweeping to his legs, her tone not very pleasant, "Do you not need your legs anymore?"

The car accident had happened, and both the airbag and seat belt had saved his life, although he immediately fell unconscious, but the injuries were not very severe.

Among the many minor and serious wounds, the most severe was his left leg, which was fractured and required rest.

And yet he had even carried her, which was too willful.

Zhou Lin’s mouth slightly curled, a hint of a smile blooming at the corners of his eyes, "Go sleep on the bed."

Cheng Zhiwei replied irritably, "I’m fine sleeping on the sofa, don’t fuss, go lie down properly."

After a thought, she still supported his arm and helped him to the bedside, thankful that only his left leg and not both legs were injured, otherwise she wouldn’t have been able to move him.

Zhou Lin lay back down properly, Cheng Zhiwei covered him with a blanket, turned to leave, but he caught her wrist.

He said softly, "Come up."

The VIP ward’s bed was large enough for two people without a problem.

However, Cheng Zhiwei didn’t want to share a bed with him.

"You rest well; I’m afraid of touching you."

Zhou Lin, however, did not let go but instead whined, "You just told me to stop fussing, now can you bear to let me endure the pain and beg you?"

Cheng Zhiwei felt like he was being unreasonable and lost her patience, "You got yourself into this mess trying to save another woman; do you think I’ll feel pity?"

Zhou Lin’s smile grew a bit flatter, "You’re right; it’s all my fault."

Cheng Zhiwei, annoyed, tugged hard at her hand, "Let go."

Zhou Lin suddenly frowned and hissed, "It hurts."

Cheng Zhiwei froze, then dared not move any further.

Zhou Lin simply pulled her in front of him and looked into her eyes seriously as he explained, "Third Uncle wants to use her to threaten me, I had no choice but to go and save her."

"You don’t need to explain, who you save is your business," Cheng Zhiwei said coldly.

As soon as the words fell, an image suddenly flashed across her mind.

The scene was still on the boat, someone was shouting, asking who to choose?

Was it Cheng Zhiwei or Seo Zhenzhen?

It was just for a moment, and by the time Cheng Zhiwei tried to recall it more clearly, the image had already shattered beyond repair, leaving her staring blankly, her head slightly aching.

Under the light, her face suddenly turned pale.

Zhou Lin gripped her hand tighter. "Zhiwei, what’s wrong?"

Cheng Zhiwei pursed her lips, trying hard to remember, but still could not, finally giving up.

"It’s nothing, just feels like you once abandoned me to save Seo Zhenzhen?"

Zhou Lin’s eyes flickered. "Is that so? Where was this?"

"On the sea?" Cheng Zhiwei said doubtfully, then sighed, "I can’t remember clearly."

Zhou Lin patted the spot beside him. "Come sleep, it’s so late, aren’t you tired?"

Cheng Zhiwei was speechless; he too knew it was late. If not for him, she could have slept on the couch until dawn.

"In this condition, I couldn’t do anything to you anyway," Zhou Lin suddenly said, his eyes downcast.

Cheng Zhiwei glanced at the time, four in the morning, the night had mostly passed, yet it was still far from dawn.

Might as well sleep, staying here wasting time is too unworthy.

She relaxed and walked over to lie down on the bed, Zhou Lin keeping his promise, did not hold her.

They lay flat, with a space of one person between them.

The bed naturally felt more comfortable than the couch, and Cheng Zhiwei fell asleep quickly.

Only when her breathing settled into a steady and prolonged rhythm did Zhou Lin dare to carefully turn towards her, quietly watching her.

In his eyes flowed a tenderness he hadn’t realized himself, dragging his pained leg, he approached her little by little, not feeling at peace until he completely enveloped her in his arms.

When Cheng Zhiwei woke up, Zhou Lin was still asleep, the vast distance still maintained between them as if nobody had moved the entire night.

She got out of bed quietly to wash up, then went to find Zhang Yuanheng to ask about Zhou Lin’s injury and precautions since it was too late the night before.

When she returned, there were already people in the hospital room.

Through the slightly ajar hospital room door, one could hear Seo Zhenzhen’s low weeping, "Ah Lin, I’m sorry, I’ve dragged you into this."

Zhou Lin’s voice was flat. "It’s okay as long as you’re safe."

"I’ll stay here to take care of you," Seo Zhenzhen sobbed, her voice gentle, emotion clearly audible in it.

Cheng Zhiwei clenched the cup in her hand, turned, and was ready to leave. With Seo Zhenzhen here, there was no need for her to stay.

"No need."

Cheng Zhiwei paused because of these two words, then listened further.

Seo Zhenzhen called out somewhat pitifully, "Ah Lin."

"Seo Zhenzhen, I do not want to delve into why you were kidnapped exactly, but I hope you will behave yourself," Zhou Lin’s voice carried a chill.

Cheng Zhiwei was stunned. Was there another reason for Seo Zhenzhen’s kidnapping?

"Ah Lin... listen to my explanation," Seo Zhenzhen’s voice weakened, "I just... just..."

Just what, she couldn’t say for a long while.
