Chapter 403: Chapter 374 Hitchhiking, Mrs. Brown_1

If I kept walking, despite the exhaustion, my feet had become numb. But when I stopped to rest, it wasn’t my body but my feet that burned with pain!

After about fifteen kilometers, Qi Zhengmin couldn’t walk any further and just sat down on the ground.

"Sister Tiantian, I can’t walk anymore, I really can’t," Qi Zhengmin cried as she spoke.

For He Tiantian, such a distance wasn’t much, but for Qi Zhengmin, it was quite a challenge.

"Okay, let’s rest a bit," He Tiantian stopped and fortunately, there was a signpost indicating that they had covered eighteen kilometers.

Leaning against the signpost’s pole, Qi Zhengmin groaned in pain!

He Tiantian helped her take off her shoes, and the pain made Qi Zhengmin scream incessantly.

Qi Zhengmin leaned on He Tiantian, groaning with pain yet somehow she managed to fall asleep.

As for the mosquitoes, drink away, drink away, I couldn’t care less at that point!

He Tiantian took off her outer shirt, wearing only an undershirt underneath, and waving her shirt, she tried to drive the mosquitoes away from Qi Zhengmin.

As she waved, He Tiantian’s movements became slower and slower, and soon enough, she too began to snore!

Snake King lay behind He Tiantian’s shoulder, vigilantly watching the surroundings.

It had used up too much mana today, and it didn’t feel safe, so it stayed outside.

When I woke up, the sky was already slightly bright.

He Tiantian looked at her watch. It was already four-thirty, and she tried to wake Qi Zhengmin.

But when her gaze fell on Qi Zhengmin’s feet, she was stunned. They were covered in blisters, swollen like buns.

Now that the day was breaking, hitchhiking would be relatively safer.

He Tiantian stood up, put on her shirt she had tossed aside, hastily tidied her hair, and stood by the roadside, using the method she had learned in English class for hitchhiking.

Standing by the roadside, she extended her right hand into a fist and raised her thumb.

Perhaps He Tiantian was too disheveled, or perhaps some people were busy with their own affairs, but no one stopped.

Finally, as daylight fully broke, there were more vehicles passing by, and people’s eyes involuntarily fell on the beautiful woman by the roadside trying to hitch a ride.

Despite being disheveled, He Tiantian’s beauty and graceful figure could not be concealed.

Finally, a car stopped in front of He Tiantian.

But the moment the person spoke, they said something particularly annoying, "Are you an illegal immigrant from Country N?"

Although the remark was annoying, the person did stop, so He Tiantian couldn’t pass up the opportunity and said, "We’re not illegal immigrants, my sister and I were kidnapped. Fortunately, we’ve escaped, and we hope the kind sir could take us to the nearest police station. When our family gets here, we will be sure to thank you properly."

The man sized up He Tiantian and then looked at Qi Zhengmin, who was motionless not far away, and shrugged, saying, "I’m sorry, I have something else!"

With that, the man pressed on the gas and drove off.

Damn it!

Weren’t the people of Country M supposed to be highly civilized?

This quality can’t even compare with the people of Country H!

Although we in Country H don’t have cars, the simple folks, even if driving an ox cart, would still take someone to the police station.

Forget it, He Tiantian shook her head and continued to stand by the roadside, asking for a ride.

But when He Tiantian wasn’t paying attention, Snake King cast a misfortune spell on the car, hehe, and sure enough, within ten kilometers, a car accident was bound to occur!

Half an hour later, a car stopped and asked He Tiantian if she needed special services?

He Tiantian gave a wry smile. Did she really look like a refugee, a fallen woman?

Just when He Tiantian was feeling frustrated and furious, an old pickup truck stopped in front of her. A middle-aged woman with brown hair and some freckles on her face leaned out of the window.

"Need help?" the middle-aged woman asked with a kind smile.

He Tiantian was startled and hastily nodded, "We really need help. My sister and I were kidnapped, but fortunately, we escaped. Please take us to the police station. Our family will come for us, and we will reward you for this."

"Oh my!" exclaimed the middle-aged woman, "Poor children, Jimmy, sit tight with Amy inside. I’ll go down and have a look."

When the middle-aged woman got out, she took two bottles of water and a small medical kit marked with a "cross" sign from the back of the truck and hurried over.

"Is that your sister?" the middle-aged woman asked, full of concern.

"Yes, this is my sister, ma’am!" He Tiantian answered, finally having met a kind soul.

The middle-aged woman first took a cloth, poured some water on it, and started to wipe Qi Zhengmin’s swollen foot.

Qi Zhengmin woke up in pain. Seeing someone tending to her wounds, she held back her tears.

After applying medicine to Qi Zhengmin, the middle-aged woman said to He Tiantian, "Hold the medical kit for me. I’ll carry her to the truck."

With that, the middle-aged woman put the kit in He Tiantian’s hands and carried Qi Zhengmin away.

He Tiantian followed closely behind and got into the truck.

The middle-aged woman let Jimmy, the boy, sit in the front and said, "You hold your sister in the back."

While speaking, the middle-aged woman buckled her nine-year-old daughter, Amy, into the seatbelt and got into the truck.

"We are about to set off. Are you seated securely?" the middle-aged woman asked, turning to look at He Tiantian.

"We are secure." He Tiantian said, "Thank you!"

"No need to thank me," the middle-aged woman replied, "Any mother seeing such a situation would stop to help."

Qi Zhengmin was also moved and asked, "Ma’am, where are you headed?"

"I found a job in New York, so I brought the children with me," the middle-aged woman said with a smile. "That’s all our stuff in the back, a whole truckload of it!"

"There’s my toy in there," Jimmy said with a smile.

"Ma’am, my name is Angela, and my sister’s name is Janie!" Qi Zhengmin introduced herself, "You are good people. I’m glad to meet you."

"It’s nice to meet you. You can call me Mrs. Brown," Mrs. Brown introduced herself. Since there were a lot of furniture and children in the car, she didn’t drive fast.

However, the speed of four wheels is always faster than two legs. In just half an hour, Mrs. Brown stopped at the entrance to a police station.

"It’s still early. I’ll go in with you to file the report," said Mrs. Brown kindly, leading the children.

He Tiantian, carrying Qi Zhengmin, followed Mrs. Brown into the police station.

The police officer saw a woman entering with four children, two of whom were particularly disheveled.

He Tiantian explained the situation, and the police recorded it.

"Officer, may I call my family to tell them we are safe?" He Tiantian asked. Only by seeing her family soon would they truly be safe.

The police officer nodded, "Yes, you may."

"Zhengmin, sit tight. I’ll call home," He Tiantian told Qi Zhengmin to sit firmly before walking to the phone.
