Chapter 365: Chapter 372 Ambush

Helen Wilson was on duty tonight and received a report after 10 PM that a group of people were gathering to gamble here.

Nowadays, with Mahjong parlors all over, they are generally left alone. Although gambling is illegal, the stakes within these parlors are typically small, almost seen as a form of entertainment. Therefore, the local police stations tend to turn a blind eye unless there is a report, in which case they would take no action.

But today’s report indicated that the stakes were very high, and Helen couldn’t ignore it, leading her to specifically bring six police officers to handle the situation.

Cracking down on gambling is usually routine—people caught are simply relieved of their betting money and fined. There’s rarely any resistance, so Helen and her team were quite relaxed, not even bothering to carry guns, with the intention of covering all exits to prevent escapes.

However, upon entering the premise, Helen and her team were in for a surprise—the six individuals inside were all skilled fighters who quickly overpowered them, injuring two officers who suffered head injuries and bleeding profusely.

At this moment, Helen found herself cornered by two strong men and exclaimed in horror, "How dare you assault a police officer!"

One of the big men sat at the Mahjong table, toying with an exquisite dagger in one hand and an apple in the other. The tip of the dagger was placed on top of the apple, which was rapidly rotating in his hand. In a few seconds, he neatly peeled the apple, took a bite, and then said, "Officer Monaghan, do you really question our audacity?"

Helen was even more horrified, realizing who this man was and shouted, "You are William Power!"

The man was indeed William Power, the brother of William Armstrong. He carelessly tossed the dagger and apple onto the table, clapped his hands, and laughed, "Smart police, you recognized me right away."

Helen immediately retorted, "You’ve got some nerve, daring to take a criminal as a hostage!"

"Ha-ha... Thank you for the compliment, Officer Monaghan!" William Power stood up and walked directly toward Helen.

The two men who had cornered Helen against the wall immediately stepped aside.

Clenching her fists tightly, Helen was haunted by the sight of her four colleagues’ plight. Facing such brutal felons, she was not the least bit afraid; instead, she was filled with rage and growled through clenched teeth, "William Power, you deranged bastard, I will make sure you’re captured."

"Ha... Officer Monaghan, you had the guts to go undercover into my brother’s place and bust his operation. I believe you have the courage, but unfortunately, you won’t get that chance."

"We’ll see if you’re capable of killing me," Helen said, adjusting her breathing. She could sense the strength of these people—any one of them was no less capable than herself, and as their leader, William Armstrong’s abilities were surely even stronger.

Helen wasn’t afraid of death, but her rage had overwhelmed her to the point that life and death no longer mattered. Her only thought was to take down William Armstrong and bring this vicious criminal to justice. With all her colleagues knocked down, if she couldn’t subdue these criminals, they would all end up like the previous four officers.

"It seems Officer Monaghan still wants to test my skills. To ensure a peaceful death, I’ll give you a chance—if you can force me to step back even half a step, I’ll let you go."

This was utter contempt, which infuriated Helen even more. She shouted and threw a fierce punch straight at William Power’s chest.

William Armstrong raised his left hand casually, intercepting Helen’s fist with the palm of his hand, creating a crisp sound.

Helen had put all her strength behind the punch; ideally, it should have forced William Power’s hand to strike his own chest.

Yet when her fist made contact with William Power’s palm, it was as if it had hit an immovable object—his hand did not budge, whereas her fist felt like it had slammed against a steel plate, with her bones feeling nearly shattered.

Helen was shocked. She knew William Power was strong but hadn’t anticipated this level of strength. She tried to retract her fist, but William Power had closed his grip on it, rendering her unable to move an inch despite her efforts.

"Not bad at all. I didn’t expect Officer Monaghan’s hand to be so smooth. I thought with your martial arts training, it would be rougher. Heh, I suddenly don’t feel like killing you straight away. I intend to enjoy this a bit longer; it would be such a pity to kill a beautiful policewoman like you right away."

As he spoke, he pulled his hand inward, and Helen’s body uncontrollably fell toward William Power’s embrace.

Helen Wilson’s eyes were about to split open; in this situation, she knew she was unlikely to escape, but before dying, the thought of enduring this man’s humiliation was something she simply couldn’t accept. Yet, in front of William Power, she had no strength whatsoever to resist.

As she was about to fall into the man’s arms, Helen was overwhelmed with grief and indignation, yet powerless to do anything about it.

Just as she was about to be embraced, William Power’s body suddenly retreated sharply, releasing Helen in the process. She hastily stepped back, puzzled by William’s actions, and when she looked up, she couldn’t see him at all. Instead, she saw a tall silhouette.

"Mysterious Figure!" Helen cried out in surprise and delight. This was indeed the silhouette of the Mysterious Figure. She had been hoping for his protection but had been uncertain if he would appear. Now, in this critical moment, the Mysterious Figure had really showed up.

At the same time, James Brown felt it was too much of a coincidence. He never expected that simply stepping out to buy some contraceptives would lead to him running into Helen, especially during her moment of peril.

"Who are you?" William Power stood two meters opposite James, his face dark with anger. As soon as James walked in, William had felt a tremendous pressure, hinting that if he continued to harass Helen, he would undoubtedly get injured. Wisely, he had pushed Helen away and retreated.

James didn’t respond, instead, he turned to look at Helen and said, "I taught you for nothing if you can’t even handle this situation."

Red-faced, Helen replied in a low voice, "He’s very strong, be careful."

"This is considered strong? They’re nothing more than a bunch of chickens and dogs."

Although William Power was in the S Region, he was originally from SSUP Country and spoke the language fluently. He understood what James was saying, and James’s contempt annoyed him greatly. He scoffed coldly and said, "Then I want to see how capable you are."

As he took a step forward, William’s momentum surged. Helen, standing beside James, could feel the oppressive force, and it filled her with terror. Only now did she realize that William was far stronger than she could have imagined.

Her arm was pulled, and Helen involuntarily retreated behind James; the heavy pressure disappeared in an instant, evidently blocked by the Mysterious Figure.

Helen had always had immense faith in the Mysterious Figure, as she had never encountered anyone more formidable. However, today she was feeling uncertain if the Mysterious Figure could match William Power.

William suddenly roared and threw a punch towards James’s chest. The punch was straightforward and lacked any tricks, yet it felt unavoidable, as if any attempt to dodge would result in the fist raining down relentlessly.

James’s gaze flickered for a moment; indeed, William Armstrong had some strength. With such ability, he would qualify to join the Hawk Squad.

But that was just enough to join Hawk Squad. Facing James, the number two man of Hawk Squad, William’s strength was clearly insufficient.

James intercepted with a palm strike, moving from below upwards, halting William’s punch just as William had previously stopped Helen’s. Just this one punch was enough to shatter William’s thunderous attack.

William was tremendously shocked, his astonishment far exceeding that of Helen’s. Although Helen knew her punches had some power, she was aware it wasn’t very strong, just slightly above that of an average man. So when William blocked her punch, she merely recognized his strength.

But William understood his own strength very well; within the S Organization, there were definitely no more than ten people who could withstand his punch, and even for those ten, it would not be an easy feat.

Not only had James caught his punch with ease, but this also meant that James was stronger than the most powerful fighters within the S Organization, inevitably shocking William.

William urgently tried to pull back his hand, ready to flee. From that single punch, he realized there was no chance of winning, even with his subordinates around—they were no match for James’s plain-looking adversary. Thus, he gave up on the idea of killing Helen, his thoughts now focused entirely on escape.

Unfortunately for William, James was not going to give him any chance. With a grasp, James had already seized William’s fist.

William was no Helen, and he knew that if James pulled him close, he would surely be taken down. So William suddenly released all tension in his right arm, a completely unexpected move. Taking a great risk—if James had applied any more strength at that moment, his arm would have been shattered—but it was his ace in the hole, meant to catch the opponent off guard for just that split second. That should have been enough; his left hand extended, revealing the shimmering blade of a dagger, already thrusting towards James’s abdomen.
