Chapter 351: Chapter 358 Night Colors

It was past Eleven o’clock when James Brown drove to Gina Lopez’s apartment, which could also be considered his home—what belongs to his wife also belongs to him, including her home.

After chatting with Sunny Nguyen for a bit and a passionate moment between them, Sunny, however, did not allow James to stay, instead asking him to go back to his own home.

James didn’t say much, perhaps because he was already married, he felt it was inappropriate to stay out, even though Gina knew about it.

But downstairs, James smoked two cigarettes before slowly heading upstairs; after all, this home still lacked a sense of belonging for him.

He had the keys to Gina Lopez’s place, and not wanting to disturb Gina and Emily late at night, he opened the door only to find neither had gone to sleep—Emily was still watching TV in the living room, and the light in Gina’s bedroom was on with her door open.

Emily stood up and came over, speaking harshly to James, "Brother-in-law, can you manage your time at all? Coming home this late? Have you started to stay out all night?"

James gave an awkward smile and said, "I got held up with some stuff tonight and came back late."

"Be careful next time; you mustn’t return this late anymore." Emily playfully winked at James, then nodded towards the bedroom, saying, "My sister has been waiting for you."

James, not knowing what to say, smiled again and said, "I’m going to take a shower."

"Go ahead." James headed straight to the bathroom, but as he passed Gina’s bedroom door, he instinctively glanced inside, meeting Gina’s eyes just as she quickly turned away, her face flushing red.

James hurried into the bathroom, feeling particularly awkward around Gina now.

After a quick shower, James realized he had not brought a change of clothes and was wondering whether to make do with his old ones when there were two knocks on the bathroom door.

"Here are your clothes," Gina’s voice came from outside.

James cracked the bathroom door open a bit and reached out his hand; a set of clothes had already been placed into his hands.

Taking the clothes inside, the door was then shut from the outside. He recalled such moments had happened before, but back then it all seemed for show, James felt natural, but now he found it oddly enjoyable.

After finishing his shower, the lights in the living room were off, and Emily approached him with a smile, "Brother-in-law, going to rest now?"

James cleared his throat and responded, "Yes, and you should too, you have work tomorrow."

Emily gave James a flirtatious smile, saying, "I should definitely sleep early, wouldn’t want to disturb you two, tonight should be your special wedding night," then she ran back to her bedroom.

Gina was already lying in bed, wearing thin pajamas; her heart was racing uncontrollably, the thought of James entering the bedroom soon and climbing into bed made her incredibly nervous.

Logically speaking, Gina and James had shared the bed many times when she was conscious; whether for whatever reason, they had done almost everything a couple would do. In front of James, Gina wouldn’t be overly embarrassed even if only in her bra and underwear.

Just a few days ago, she was eager for James to sleep with her, hoping to get pregnant, but after their unexpected relations, she felt an inexplicable fear towards James coming in.

"What should I do if he wants to... when he comes in?" Gina was struggling with this thought.

"We’re already married, and we’ve already been intimate, so if he desires... I shouldn’t reject him."

"But... I don’t feel like a wife at all; if I do that with him, it really feels unfair."

Just then, she heard the conversation between Emily and James outside, Gina’s heart pounding even more—"wedding night" seemed today truly was to be recognized as such, marking their true beginning as husband and wife, and it was quite normal for James to have such desires.

But after waiting a while, Gina heard no door sound, and James still hadn’t entered, which shifted her fears into confusion. She waited a bit longer, still no movement outside, she was about to lose patience and go check.

But before Gina could get up, Emily’s door had already opened, Gina quickly paused, listening intently for any sound from outside.

"Brother-in-law, why did you move to the couch?" As soon as Emily Lopez’s voice was heard, Gina Lopez felt a sense of suffocation. James Brown actually wanted to sleep in the living room; what did this imply? It meant that James didn’t regard her as his wife at all, and didn’t take their marriage seriously, even feeling very averse to it.

"It’s cooler in the living room, I’m just sitting here for a while." James Brown’s voice also rang out.

Gina Lopez tiptoed to the door, pressing her ear against it, eager to hear what James would say.

By this time, Emily Lopez had already sat down next to James Brown, pouting, she said, "Is there something bothering you? If it’s not convenient to talk to your wife, my sister, perhaps you can talk to me."

James Brown knew Emily Lopez was asking knowingly. He lit a cigarette and said, "There’s nothing bothering me, just sitting here smoking a cigarette. Your sister doesn’t like smoking in the bedroom."

"Brother-in-law really does care about my sister, huh? After you finish the cigarette, are you going back to sleep? Haha, tonight is the wedding night, you aren’t planning to sit here and smoke all night, are you?"

James Brown originally planned to sleep in the living room for the night, but when Emily came out, he knew this was no longer possible. After taking a couple of drags, he extinguished the cigarette, stood up, and said, "Alright, I’m going to sleep now."

Emily Lopez giggled and said, "Then I’ll send my blessings now, wishing you and my sister a soon-to-be blessed child, so I can hold a big nephew soon."

James Brown laughed heartily and said, "You’ll have to wait for that." After speaking, he strode to the bedroom door and pushed it open as he entered.

Gina Lopez had not expected James Brown to enter so quickly; she was still eavesdropping by the door. When James pushed open the door, it caused her to stagger nearly falling, but at that moment she didn’t care about that and hurriedly sat down by the bed.

Emily Lopez giggled at the doorway and said, "Sis, brother-in-law, good night!" Then she casually closed the bedroom door.

The room was very quiet, with only the breathing sounds of James Brown and Gina Lopez. Gina’s breathing was a bit erratic; her pounding heartbeat seemed almost audible. Her face was red as the twilight sky, showing a bit of shyness, and some confusion.

Seeing Gina like this, James Brown felt more relaxed and said, "Why are you not asleep at this late hour?"

Gina Lopez was even more nervous; the usually composed and dignified woman had turned into a timid girl, stuttering, "I’m about to sleep."

James Brown smiled slightly and said, "Then go to sleep." Saying this, he turned off the main hall light and came to the bed.

He climbed onto the bed, James Brown lay on the side near the window, stretched lazily, and said, "It’s late, let’s sleep early, otherwise you won’t have energy for work tomorrow."

"Hmm!" Gina Lopez responded, turned off the bedside lamp, and delicately and slowly lay down on the bed. On the 1.8 meter wide bed, the two lay on opposite sides, with over half a meter of space between them.

Actually, Gina Lopez was quite surprised that James Brown came back tonight; he had been to Sunny Nguyen’s place, and logically, James should have stayed there overnight. However, this guy returned, probably because Sunny felt awkward keeping him overnight. Regardless, his return made Gina extremely nervous.

"This guy must have been satisfied at Sister Sunny’s place. Men usually don’t think about such things after doing that, so he probably won’t touch me tonight," Gina comforted herself internally.

But she soon contradicted herself; James Brown was quite physically strong. She clearly heard the two of them tossing and turning all night next door once; this guy definitely still has the energy to come looking for her now.

"This guy coming back so late, could it be that he really considers me his wife now? Otherwise, he didn’t have to come back at all."

"But I really don’t know how to be a good wife to him. Besides, marrying him and living with him for a lifetime, I wasn’t prepared at all."

These thoughts plagued Gina Lopez as she returned home tonight, and even after James Brown returned, she continued to be entangled with these thoughts, not knowing how long she’d been speculating. She was so tired she could barely keep her eyes open, and James Brown wasn’t making any moves either, his breathing even and steady.

"No way, this guy actually fell asleep?" Gina Lopez was quite familiar with James Brown and knew this meant he had fallen asleep. She slowly turned her somewhat stiff body toward James, and sure enough, she saw him fast asleep.

"This jerk, he must have exhausted himself at Sister Sunny’s place and came back to sleep like a dead pig! Humph, do you really consider me your wife or not?"

Seeing James Brown asleep made Gina suddenly feel a bit aggrieved and annoyed, even wanting to wake James up and confront him directly.

A woman’s heart is truly strange; if James Brown made a move on her, she would have been afraid and conflicted, but now that he didn’t, she felt uneasy instead.
