Chapter 317: Chapter 325 Shameless Man
Sunny Nguyen also felt a bit uncomfortable when James Clark spoke; after all, he was a man she once deeply loved, which was why she married him. She sighed and said, "Since everything is over now, I don’t want to bring it up again. You’re remarried now, and you’ve become the general manager of JYPP Region Company. Your wishes have been fulfilled, I should be congratulating you."
"No! Sunny, what you’re saying is wrong. I always thought this was what I wanted, but now I know, I’ve lost more, and most importantly... I’ve lost you." James Clark looked intently at Sunny Nguyen with the same gaze he used when they were passionately in love, a gaze that used to intoxicate Sunny back then.
Unfortunately, Sunny wasn’t intoxicated today but instead avoided his gaze and gently stirred her coffee with a spoon, slowly saying, "Life is just like this, there are gains and losses, and nothing is ever perfect."
"It may not be perfect, but I can still do my best, Sunny. Give me a chance to correct this mistake."
"Correct it?" Sunny Nguyen looked at James Clark with some confusion.
James Clark nodded intensely, with a sincere and heartfelt expression and tone, he said, "Sunny, I’ve been reflecting recently, and I realized I only love you. In my heart, you are the only one I truly like. Seeing Mary Johnson just makes me sick. So, give me a chance, let’s start over."
Sunny Nguyen widened her eyes and slowly asked, "How can we start over?"
Seeing that Sunny hadn’t immediately rejected him, James Clark was overjoyed and hurriedly said, "This is how, I plan to temporarily appease Mary Johnson, and once I’ve saved up enough money for our future, I will divorce her, and then we can be together. I will take you around the world, buy you whatever you want, anything you desire, I will give it all to you."
Sunny Nguyen laughed, suddenly burst into a radiant smile, which made James Clark even more elated, excitedly saying, "Sunny, does this mean you agree?"
Sunny Nguyen picked up her coffee cup and took a slight sip, gracefully asking, "So you mean... you want me to be your mistress for now?"
"Yes! Ah, no, what mistress, you are essentially my wife, we just lack a marriage certificate, we can be like before."
"You really have quite the idea," said Sunny Nguyen, her face still smiling broadly, but with a deep disdain hidden within her smile.
Unfortunately, James Clark was so blinded by joy that he completely missed the disdain in Sunny’s smile, seeing only her laughter, he excitedly said, "You also think it’s a good idea, then we can do it this way, rest assured, I will quickly make a lot of money, and then we can run away together, living the life we love."
"James Clark! You bastard!"
Just as James Clark was happily talking, a roar suddenly erupted from behind him, and then a shadow rushing toward him, with two chubby hands featuring sharp nails, swinging at his face.
Hearing this shout, James Clark was scared out of his wits because it was indeed his wife Mary Johnson’s voice. Instinctively, he dodged and blocked with his arms, fortunately avoiding his face being scratched, but his hands immediately had several gashes scratched across.
"Wife... my wife... how did you get here?" James Clark, regardless of the pain in his hands, his face pale, stammered and asked, what he most wanted to know now was when Mary Johnson arrived and what exactly she had heard.
Mary Johnson glared with her small eyes, fire seemingly about to burst from them, one hand on her hip, the other chubby finger pointing at James Clark, she angrily said, "Good for you, James Clark, you are nothing but a disloyal ingrate! I struggled so much to make you the general manager, and you’re thinking about ditching me? I’m telling you, there’s no way unless I’m done with you, otherwise, you can’t even think about leaving."
"Wife, wife, you’ve misunderstood, it’s not like what you think, I only have you in my heart, how could I think of leaving you?" James Clark grabbed Mary Johnson’s chubby hands and pleaded with a flattering look.
"Really? Then what did you mean by everything you just said? Listen, since you walked in, I’ve been hiding right behind you, hearing every word you said clearly. Don’t think you can fool me with your tricks."
James Clark could only feel a chill running down his spine. How had he not noticed that Mary Johnson was following him? That’s right, he had seen Mary go out this morning, so he never expected her to follow him. Secondly, he had been so preoccupied with how to appease Sunny Nguyen that he had ignored everyone around him.
He glanced around and felt that everyone in the café was looking at them, which made James Clark wish he could just find a hole to crawl into. He was the general manager of a company, after all. If this got out at the office, people would look down on him even more. But now, saving face was secondary; if he couldn’t calm Mary down, he might very well be packing his bags and leaving his job tomorrow.
"Mary, Mary, let’s go home and talk this through calmly. I’ll give you an explanation," James Clark said as he put his arm around Mary’s shoulder. Before she could shrug him off, he quickly whispered in her ear, "I have a reason for this, I can’t talk about it here."
Mary was having none of it. She pushed James Clark away with a slap and yelled, "What reason could you possibly have? You just want to get back with your ex-wife, don’t you? You think I’m an idiot? Hmph, you seductress, even after getting divorced, you still lure my husband. Have you no shame at all?"
Sunny Nguyen had wanted to leave ever since Mary appeared, knowing it was impossible to reason with her. Moreover, Mary had heard what James Clark had said which eventually turned her anger towards Sunny. But as she tried to leave, Mary was blocking her way. The only way out was to push past Mary, and she hadn’t figured out how to do that before Mary had already turned her fury towards her.
But now that it had come to this, Sunny was neither afraid nor weak, and coldly said, "Since you’ve heard our conversation, you should understand that all of this is just your husband’s wishful thinking."
"It takes two to tango. If you hadn’t seduced him, would he still think about you? You wretch..." Mary, true to her shrewish nature, began a string of curses nonstop, the typical rant of a woman scorned, which certainly broadened the eyes of everyone in the café.
The others might enjoy the drama, but Sunny couldn’t stand it. Being the target of such vulgar abuse was too much for her, even with her good temper. As her face grew increasingly unpleasant, she suddenly threw the steaming cup of coffee directly at Mary’s face.
This truly surprised everyone. The usually quiet Sunny showed a strength that left people genuinely amazed.
It seemed the mistress caught in the act should be frightened and uneasy, and while everyone in their hearts felt Mary, as the loud and brash wife, was annoying, Sunny appeared to be an educated and cultured person with taste. Yet, this disturbance caused the crowd to lack sympathy for her.
The coffee splash stunned Mary into silence, then she started jumping around and cursing like a madwoman: "You seductress, if only you could keep your husband in line. Without that ability, you still come here to seduce him, with the face of a whore, you slut who everyone rides..."
After a few insults, Mary suddenly charged at Sunny with claws out as if they were daggers, aiming for Sunny’s face while continuing to curse viciously: "You foul woman, I’m going to disfigure you today, then let’s see if you still lure other people’s husbands."
James Clark had already been scared out of his wits by Mary, and now he was only thinking about how to placate her. Seeing Mary attack Sunny, he didn’t even reach out to stop her. To him, if possible, it would be best to quietly keep a lover, but now that Mary had discovered the affair, that was simply impossible. So, he thought it best to focus on protecting himself.
Sunny was prepared, knowing this woman would indeed attack. She was initially sitting on the outside chair, but stood up between two chairs. Once Mary lunged, Sunny moved back a bit more, nudging the chair out a bit, effectively blocking Mary’s way.
With Mary’s bulky body, she couldn’t reach Sunny, but Sunny was still tense. This crazy woman was utterly unreasonable, and reasoning with her was futile. When it came to a fight, how could she ever compete with Mary? Her gaze instinctively sought James Clark, her ex-husband. As a man, at the very least, she hoped he could prevent Mary from hitting her.
But at that moment, James Clark averted his gaze from Sunny and hurriedly pulled out a book of documents, throwing it towards her and declaring righteously, "Here’s the household registration book you wanted. I had prepared it for you long ago. I’ll tell you now, Mary is the only one in my heart. No matter what methods you use, I will only be with Mary. Don’t bother me again in the future."
Sunny was stunned for a moment, then she burst out laughing, a self-deprecating laugh. She could hardly believe that she had lived for so long with such a shameless man.
