The Strong Female Lead Versus The Most Miserable Male Lead -
Chapter 332 - 330: Armed Team Captain
Chapter 332: Chapter 330: Armed Team Captain
Nian Shutong calmly bought some meatballs, while the vendor across from her seemed a bit timid.
The motion of frying meatballs should have been second nature, yet he somehow dropped one.
In his fluster, the vendor quickly added another and started frying meatballs with his head bowed, not wanting any trouble.
Nian Shutong said nothing, quietly waiting.
At this time, the woman on the ground had already gotten up, fussed around under her Light Computer, hugged her arms, and stood by with a schadenfreude attitude, as if she held a winning ticket.
This look suggested she had some backup.
Moreover, it seemed many people recognized this woman, because even in the noisy bustling snack street, a clearing formed around her.
At this moment, Nian Shutong seemed even more composed than the woman, sniffing the aroma of the fried meatballs and curiously asking the vendor,
"What seasoning did you put in this? It smells great."
The vendor didn’t answer, just scooped out the meatballs, packed them, and handed them to Nian Shutong.
Nian Shutong immediately took them and handed them out for several people to try.
"Remember to pay."
Fu Yunhe, holding Little Pink Pig, stepped forward and neatly paid the money, then stood aside and started eating his portion of meatballs.
"Delicious!"
"Auntie, it’s really good."
"This is Ha Ha’s favorite meatball."
Fu Yunhe added, "It’s much better than my cooking."
That comment made Ha Ha, Dou Dou, and Nian Shutong all turn to look at him.
Their gaze conveyed a crystal clear message, causing Fu Yunhe to bow his head, avoiding the trio.
What’s the matter? A little falling apart still counts as a meatball.
"Auntie, Uncle is embarrassed."
"No way! His skin is thick."
Ha Ha, holding Dou Dou, thought he whispered to Dou Dou, then continued to eat the meatballs, one after another.
Nian Shutong’s small box of meatballs briefly concealed her rising smile as she continued eating.
After eating a few, Nian Shutong was ready to leave, but the woman who had been standing nearby blocked her path.
"Leaving!"
"Not so easy." The woman stood arrogantly in front, thinking herself "unique."
Nian Shutong carefully protected her meatballs with one hand, and with the other hand stretched out a finger, just about to push the woman aside, when she heard the woman speak.
"Offending me means waiting to be sent to the trash star to labor!"
To the trash star?
Wasn’t that her intended destination?
Nian Shutong exchanged a glance with Fu Yunhe, not hoping he would catch on by intuition, but instead transmitted silently: Check, can we hitch a ride?
Hitch a ride?
Fu Yunhe quickly grasped the meaning of that term, as people brought by the woman arrived.
"Hello everyone, we are from the Transfer Station garrison, and we now suspect you are dangerous individuals, please come with us for an investigation."
A man with an Eight-character Moustache, followed by four others holding some type of guns, semi-encircled the group.
At this moment, Fu Yunhe had almost finished checking; it turned out this woman was the daughter of an officer from the Transfer Station garrison.
"Let’s go with them."
Fu Yunhe spoke first, Nian Shutong glanced at him and he nodded.
Nian Shutong, cooperating, nodded and gave no resistance, "Then let’s go."
"After all, who says I’m not a law-abiding good young man."
Four people and a pig followed the Guard Team, the woman snorted at Nian Shutong with her nose up in the air and walked ahead, head held high.
Nian Shutong, watching from behind, seemed somewhat interested and kept snacking on meatballs now and then because the Guard Captain was shooting disdainful looks at that woman.
Indeed, what the Guard Captain was really thinking at that moment was, "She’s incompetent and always stirring up trouble. Why hasn’t she encountered someone tough to give her a good thrashing?"
They walked for a bit—not too far, just the time it took to eat a meatball.
Upon arriving, Nian Shutong, being particularly hygienic, collected everyone’s meatball boxes and asked the Guard Captain, "Where’s the trash can?"
The question stunned the Guard Captain.
Not because he didn’t know where the trash can was, but because no one had ever asked him that before.
"Over there."
The Guard Captain thought for a moment, pointed in a direction, and Nian Shutong politely thanked him, then tossed the meatball box into the trash can.
After she was done, she walked back and started chatting with the Guard Captain.
"How many years have you worked here?"
"What’s the salary like?"
"Do they provide housing?"
"Do you commute?"
"How’s the living situation?"
One question after another made the Guard Captain mistakenly think Nian Shutong was a matchmaker.
"I am already married."
"Huh?"
Nian Shutong looked at the Guard Captain oddly and said, "Why are you telling me you’re married?"
"I’m just genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, concerned about the job conditions."
That sounded a bit official.
The Guard Captain couldn’t help but think, could this person be an inspector sent from above?
At that moment, Nian Shutong started questioning the soldiers following behind.
"Are you happy working here?"
"How are the conditions?"
"Can you access Cultivation Resources?"
"How’s the food?"
Nian Shutong genuinely wanted to know; her knowledge of interstellar policies all came from the Star Network, but she also wanted to get a sense of these people’s real situation in case she needed to recruit someone in the future.
Fu Yunhe somewhat guessed Nian Shutong’s intentions and didn’t find her odd at all; rather, he found her quite adorable.
Adorable?
If Nian Shutong knew he thought that, she would certainly give him a piece of her mind.
Nian Shutong’s questions ultimately went unanswered because they had reached their destination.
The woman quickly ran inside, and the Guard Captain amiably said to Nian Shutong, "Don’t worry, our captain is quite reasonable."
Reasonable?
That could be problematic since Nian Shutong favored unreasonable people.
Those types don’t hold back in a fight, making it easier to use various tactics. It’s a bit awkward with reasonable people.
Better to wait and see.
Before long, the Guard Captain led them through a large gate, into a grand courtyard that resembled an old Chinese-style building.
After passing through one courtyard, they entered a hall where a dignified-looking man sat patiently listening to the complaints of the woman next to him.
By this time, Nian Shutong and her group had entered the room. The man hadn’t yet spoken, but the woman from outside, sharp-voiced, yelled, "Dad, it’s them!"
"They bullied me; you must avenge me!"
"Slap!"
"Rubbish! What revenge? What grievances do you have? All you do every day is create trouble; what else do you know!"
"People were just buying some meatballs; how did that bother you!"
