Chapter 300: A Change Finally

Lockwood City did not possess just a single territory, but instead, there was a total of three territories that were present in the entire city. As for small survivors camps, they did not exist at all.

In case there was a small settlement that had been created by the humans, the zombies would go ahead and attack that place, completely destroying them.

Due to this, there was nobody that tried to create a territory of their own. After all, currently, the strength of the zombies had already increased drastically, with the majority of them being in the Bronze rank.

As for humans, if they wanted to create a territory of their own from scratch, they needed a lot of manpower, and each of them had to be strong enough to be able to resist the zombies if they attacked.

But that was definitely not something that the majority of the people within the city were willing to do. Since they were currently inside a territory, they would rather continue staying there even if they were uncomfortable with something, rather than trying something that was going to lead to their death.

Just as one could expect, on this day, the very same day that the territory in which Olivia’s parents were in was attacked, the other two territories also faced attacks from the zombies.

But unlike the territory where Henry and his group were present to help, there was nobody that possessed great power to be able to resist the zombies. Due to that reason, a lot of casualties were experienced by the two territories.

And then, after they had completely dealt with the ordinary zombies that had attacked them together with some few mutant zombies, something else happened. Out of nowhere, while everyone was clearing the battlefield, a zombie erupted from the ground.

The moment that it appeared, it immediately began attacking the people that were outside of the territory. The strength that it possessed was so immense that nobody could resist at all.

It did not matter if a person was in the Bronze rank or in the silver rank. But as long as they tried to fight against the zombie, the zombie would easily crash them into minced meat.

Every single attack from the gigantic zombie was capable of killing several people at the same time. And as they noticed that they were not capable of dealing with the zombie, the leaders of the two territories instructed the people to retreat.

Of course they could see the information about the zombies. And they were completely horrified the moment that they realized that the zombies were at the gold rank.

There was nobody that was in the two territories that was at the gold rank. Still, the two leaders of the two territories both went ahead and tried to fight against the zombies. But unlike Nancy who possessed a companion beast that was helping her, the other two did not.

So the moment that they attacked the zombies, they were injured. But the strange thing was that the zombies did not kill them at all. But instead, it simply injured them before allowing them to retreat.

Although they could not understand what was going on, still, they were relieved the moment that they realized that the zombies just continued standing outside of the territory.

According to what they could understand, they thought that perhaps the zombies were being prevented by something from being capable of invading the territories. And although they felt that this was a lucky chance for them to be able to recover, but they understood one thing, perhaps the zombies might find a way of entering into the territories.

If the zombies entered into the territories, the number of deaths would definitely skyrocket. So, they tried to make sure that they reinforced the defenses of the walls of the territories.

But of course, nobody felt safe with the two zombies outside of the territories. How could a person feel comfortable if there was a predator that was watching them from outside of the territory?

Nevertheless, they finally understood another thing. That was, as long as a person tried to go out of the territory, they would be killed immediately by the zombie. It seemed that the zombies were targeting only those that came out of the territories, and not those that were inside of the territory.

Although they found that this matter was strange, nobody understood the real reason why the zombies did not enter into the territories.

It might be true that they were given a chance of retreating into the territory, and recuperating, but still, that was not a long term solution. If they continued staying inside the territories, how were they supposed to increase their strength?

There was definitely going to be a big disadvantage in the future if they continue to stay inside of the territory. After all, while they were inside of the territory, there were other people that were out there, increasing their levels.

Of course there was no exchange of information between the three territories. Not to mention the fact that all of them were enemies with each other, there was also the fact that they did not possess the equipment that they were going to be capable of using to exchange information with that kind of distance.

In fact, the other two territories did not possess anything that they could use to communicate with each other. As for the territory that was led by Nancy, it was lucky enough to be able to gain a blueprint of the construction of a communication device.

It was due to this that they were currently in possession of devices that were capable of transmitting information within the territory. Of course, if they wanted to transmit the information for longer distances, they had to construct more receivers.

But that was something that was impossible to do considering that the zombies still dominated Lockwood City. As for the location of the other territories, they were located in three positions within Lockwood city, but all of them were in the outskirts of the city.

And as one could expect, the distance between them was extremely huge. Additionally, they were in a position that they formed a triangle.

The first day went by just like that. Then came the second day, and the third day. But those two territories did not see the zombies trying to get away. But instead, they continued standing outside of the two territories, as if they were just waiting for them to go out.

Of course, although the people inside the territories were patient, but how was it possible that they were going to be patient for an entire week or more? It was also at this point that they finally began hating even more the incredible stamina of the zombies.

Of course, they did not get surprised by the fact that the zombies did not eat during all this time. After all, the zombies were dead, with only the brain functioning. So, even if they ate other people, the flesh that they would have eaten was not digested in a normal way.

So perhaps due to this reason the zombies did not feel hungry at all. And they just continued staying there, waiting. Of course, during this time, the two territories had already made assumptions that perhaps the zombies were just waiting for something.

It was during the third day that finally, they began understanding what was going on. Just like before the descent of the second stage of the apocalypse, the sky was suddenly covered in heavy and thick clouds.

It was just that these clouds were not the normal ones, but they were completely red in color. It was the same kind of clouds that had appeared during the time that the red mist dominated the world.

The sun rays were not capable of penetrating the thick red cloud, making the world descent into darkness. The only sources of light were those that were created by humans themselves because the sky was now completely covered, and there was no natural light that came in.

This time, it was not the same thing that had happened during the second stage of the apocalypse, before its descent. Instead of forming red mist that was going to envelope the entire world, the red clouds in the air just stayed there, without making any motion.

At the same time, there was a change in the atmosphere. A thick amount of killing intent suddenly surged out of the clouds, pressing heavily onto the minds of everyone in the world. This definitely included the members of the other races, except for the zombies.

The members of the other races were not surprised by the changes that were occurring. It was just the humans that were panicking, when they realized that there was this kind of change in the air. Of course, they had already learnt previously that such a change was definitely not something good.

The humans began preparing themselves for the worst. It might be true that they did not know what was going to happen, but they understood one thing, it was definitely not something good for the humans.

Just the amount of killing intent that was pressing on the minds of humans in the entire world was definitely not a good sign. And as time continued to pass, several humans lost their minds, and began acting crazily.

In no time at all, chaos suddenly erupted. Several humans that had lost their minds began going on a killing spree. This caused disorder to suddenly erupt within the ranks of the humans. But still, those humans that were not affected by the killing intent acted fast enough, trying to make sure that the losses that they were going to suffer were not going to be high.
