Chapter 301: The Third Stage Descends (1)

...But still, those humans that were not affected by the killing intent acted fast enough, trying to make sure that the losses that they were going to suffer were not going to be high.

But of course, although they acted as fast as they could, still they could not mitigate much damage that had already been caused. Of course nobody was expecting that they were going to be attacked from the inside. Due to this, they were caught completely off guard.

The number of deaths suddenly increased. After all, those that were attacking were not organized at all. In fact, there were even some people within the territories that possessed higher power levels that were overwhelmed by the killing intent due to their unstable minds.

But in case a person that was at the Silver rank attacked, there was no chance that anybody that was within the Bronze rank could resist.

It was only after about 3 hours that finally, everyone that was affected by the red clouds in the air and the killing intent that was filling the entire world was subdued.

Of course they did not kill them. After all, although they had been affected, that did not imply that they had become zombies. In fact, they were just humans, but they were crazed humans.

So, due to the fact that the number of humans was lower as compared to the number of zombies within the city, the leaders of the three territories had the same decision, and that was to lock away all those that were affected.

Due to this reason, even those that had managed to subdue their family members and kept them in secret, in fear that they were going to be killed, finally agreed to hand them over.

Of course there was a group of people that were in charge of trying to study and understand what was going on with this group of people. But of course, they had not forgotten about what had happened during the time that the second stage of the apocalypse was about to descend.

Since they were afraid that this group of people were going to turn into zombies, the area that they had locked them was completely secluded. At the same time, they left some people there to guard that place. Of course, several silver rank mutant warriors were left there to guard the place.

Although the number of people that were getting overwhelmed by the killing intent had already stopped increasing, but the amount of killing intent in the air did not reduce at all. This made everyone feel completely stifled.

It was as if there was something heavy on their chests, making it difficult for them to be able to breath. But nevertheless, they could only continue trying to survive, because there was nothing that they could do against that cloud.

For the two territories other than the one that was led by Nancy, they saw that the zombies were still outside there. The two zombies looked like they were not affected by the changes in the atmosphere at all.

In any case, since the two creatures possessed killing intent, why would they be affected by the killing intent in the air? In fact, were they not much more comfortable in this environment?

Nevertheless, looking at the zombies that still continued maintaining looking at the main entrance of the territory, and not moving, the leaders of the two territories contemplated about making a move, trying to use another entrance to get out of the territory.

But then again, where were they going to go to after they had left the territory? It was not easy to be able to evacuate the entire population of the territory. Additionally, they were not sure if by trying to leave using another entrance, the zombies would not come over and attack them.

Due to the changes that had occurred, nobody tried to go out. After all, inside the territory, it had already been difficult for them to be able to finally ensure that there was peace. So, what about outside of the territory? The city itself was completely dominated by zombies.

That implied that if they got out of this territory, they could only go out of the city, or go to the other territories. But it was not that easy to be able to reach the other territories because in between, there was a large number of zombies.

Additionally, why would the other territories accept them when they were from the enemy territories? They would definitely think that they were going there to gain information about them, and cause trouble from within.

Finally, after an entire day, the pressure that everyone was feeling from the killing intent in the air suddenly reduced. Although this was something that was supposed to make everyone feel at peace, but still, their hearts tensed even more.

This was something almost instinctual. Nobody had descended or nobody had seen the danger other than the zombies that were outside of the two territories, but still, they felt that there was a lot of more danger than the zombies outside.

At this point, they felt that there was someone that was looking at them. And the gaze from the other party made them feel completely helpless. At the same time, they felt that the secrets that they were keeping deep in their hearts were completely revealed.

Of course there was nobody that was going to feel comfortable having the secrets revealed.

For a moment, the entire world fell into a moment of silence. Even the zombies and monsters were no longer roaring from time to time. But instead, all of them had gone silent, making the entire world feel eerie.

But the silence did not last that long. On the morning of the third day after the appearance of the red clouds in the sky, thunder was heard as lightning flashed within the skies.

This lightning was a source of light for the world that was covered in darkness for three entire days. But of course, nobody was relieved with the light, but instead, they felt spooked. This was due to the fact that the color of the lightning was red, although it was brighter as compared to the red clouds in the sky.

This was definitely not the normal kind of lightning. And of course, due to the fact that the apocalypse had descended, a lot of changes had occurred. But until this day, a change like this had never been experienced before.

Then at about noon on that day, the ground began shaking. At the same time, the intensity of the thunder in the sky intensified, reaching to a level that it was almost deafening.

Finally, as the ground continued shaking, rain began falling from the sky. It was not a light rain, but instead, it was a storm that was accompanied by heavy winds, thunder, accompanied by lightning flashes.

Momentarily, the entire world was shaken. And of course, the ones that were completely shaken were the humans. The reason behind this was of course the rain.

The rain that was falling from the skies at this moment was not normal at all. Instead, it was filled with a thick iron scent. And as one could expect, it was completely red, the same color of blood.

Not only that, it was not light as well. Instead, it possessed the same thickness as that of blood. And of course, this blood resembled that of humans.

This made all the humans that had experienced the blood that was falling from the sky to feel a chill deep in their hearts. At the same time, they felt that things were going to change.

In no time at all, all the territories, the cities and even forests and rivers, all of them were soaked in blood. The color of the rivers and water bodies turned red.

It was only after an entire day that finally, the storm that was all over the world stopped. But of course, the moment that it stopped, nobody felt at ease. Instead, they just felt that the storm should have continued. After all, with the end of the storm, that implied that another thing was going to occur.

And just as they had expected, another thing occurred. Out of nowhere, the zombies within the cities, and the monsters outside of the cities began roaring. It was as if they were welcoming something, or maybe they were afraid of something, or perhaps they were attracted by something.

Nevertheless, nobody could understand what was happening, and what was the reason behind the roaring of the zombies and the monsters. But of course, they understood one thing, this was definitely not a good sign.

And just as they had expected, although it was not the best thing for them, it was definitely the best thing that had happened to the monsters and the zombies.

Since they were completely soaked in the bloody rain, their entire bodies were covered in blood. And in the next moment, the blood that was covering their bodies suddenly began lighting up.

At the same time as this happened, a large amount of killing intent suddenly came out of the blood. And since the blood was also inside of the territories, several people began feeling that they were going to be affected by the killing intent.

This time, the leaders of all the territories and cities acted immediately. They secluded the people that felt that they were going to be overwhelmed by the killing intent. They placed them in the same place, because they had realized something during the last time that they had attacked, they did not kill each other, but instead, they simply targeted the sane humans.

But against their expectations, those people that felt that they were going to become crazy suddenly felt that all the pressure that they were experiencing had disappeared. Instead, their minds were filled with a moment of peace.
