The Shadow of a Luna
Chapter 34

Chapter 34: Chapter 34

TESSA POV

I slowly wake to the sun beaming in my bedroom and the sudden pain in my head has me hissing and grabbing at it like it is about to explode. I look around the room and everything is blurry at first before my sight comes into focus.

I notice that I am naked under the blankets and the events of the day before start flashing through my mind. The battle with the vampires. My wolf. The fire. Everything. And I jolt up quickly in bed before I feel a hand on my shoulder.

I look over and Tyler was sitting up next to me holding my arm. I must have woken him up when I jolted awake. And I threw myself at him and hugged him.

"What did I do last night?" I asked.

"You saved us. And it wasn’t last night. It was two night ago." He says.

"What?" I asked.

"You’ve been unconscious for two nights. And a full day yesterday." He says.

"Who did I hurt?" I asked.

"Only them. You didn’t hurt any of us. I promise. You saved our lives." He says.

"What happened? How the hell did I do that?" I asked.

"You don’t know?" He asked confused.

"No. I just remember getting really angry. Thinking that we were going to lose the fight. They were about to hurt you. They were ganging up on Bella. And then I lost control." I say.

"You didn’t lose control. You knew exactly who to attack and that’s where the fire was aimed at. You made sure that none of your family or friends were hurt. It’s alright baby. You didn’t do anything wrong. No one is angry with you...Gladys says that you tapped into one of the elements. Fire." He explained.

"Earth, wind, water and fire." I say.

"Exactly." He says kissing the top of my head. I pulled away from him and I look him in the face.

"I thought I killed everybody." I cried.

"You didn’t." He says wiping away my tears. He pulled me back down on to the bed and he put my head on his chest. " Everything is alright. You don’t need to worry. You saved us and stopped the battle. You killed them before they killed any of us." He continued trying to soothe me.

When we finally got out of bed I had a long hot shower and got dressed and we went downstairs to where the wolves were hanging around.

Bella raced up and hugged me gently. Not like when she first got here. And the others seemed to get in line to hug me as well.

"You had us worried sick women." Wyatt says.

"Sorry. I honestly don’t know what the hell happened out there." I say.

"You saved our goddamn lives, that’s what happened out there." Naomi says.

"None of you are scared?" I asked skeptically.

"At first, we were concerned. But then we realized that none of us were hurt. You directed all your anger at them. Not at us. We knew that we were safe as long as we were on your side." Elias explained.

"Thank you." I say.

"Tessa. Can I talk to you for a minute." Angelo asked. So I followed him into the other room and he leaned against a bench while I stood there awkwardly.

"What’s going on?" I asked.

"Tyler mentioned a few things to me the other day that haven’t really sat right with me. About the way Daniel raised you." He says.

"Tyler shouldn’t have said anything." I say.

"So it’s true. You obviously know what I am referring to." He says.

"Yeah. The three warriors. It’s nothing to worry about anymore. I killed them and then I killed my father. Their gone. They can’t hurt me anymore." I say.

"I know that. But that doesn’t change the fact that I heard you tell Tyler that I was keeping you locked up here like Daniel used to." He says.

"Did you really think that there was nothing wrong with you putting a barrier around this place so that I can’t leave?" I asked.

"Daniel stole you from me once. I didn’t want to lose you again. I thought that you might come around to liking this place and wanting to stay." He says.

"Angelo. I can’t stay here. You’ve always known that. But if you want a relationship with me then you will take down the barrier. We will still see each other. I’m sure of it. Especially with the way you get around the world." I say.

"I’m gonna hold you to that. And I don’t want Tyler’s wolves keeping me away from you on your territory." He says.

"Call me if they try and I will rip into them myself." I say and he smiles at that.

"Alright. I’ll call the witch and have her take down the barrier." He says.

"Why the sudden change of heart?" I asked.

"I refuse to be anything like Daniel." He says walking away.

I went back to the dining room and everyone was sitting down to breakfast and I was starving. I’d been asleep for so long and hadn’t eaten and I drank a lot of water that morning. Like I was severely dehydrated.

"Angelo is letting the barrier down. I want to start searching for Josiah." I announce and everyone at the table stopped talking and stared at me. " I’m sick of waiting for him to make the first move. We need to do something. And I want to make the first move now. He won’t expect it." I say.

"I don’t think that we’ll be able to find him. He has too many people in the city." Finn says.

"Well, we need to do something. I’m sick of sitting here like a sitting duck. Just waiting for him to attack us. We don’t know what sort of army he has, who he has working for him. How many vampires, witches, possibly werewolves. We just don’t know." I say.

"Maybe a scouting expedition might not be such a bad idea." Cade says.

"Alright. But we go during the daytime only. When we have the advantage over Josiah. Not over the shadow witch. But at least it will take care of half of our problem." Tyler says.

"Good. We leave after breakfast." I say.

"Don’t you want to rest for a bit?" Aria asked.

"No. I feel fine." I say.

So after breakfast we pulled out a map and we divided it into sections and we chose the groups that we would go in. Tyler obviously had me in his group and Carter and Aria. Mates weren’t going to be separated doing this sort of shit.

We headed to our section of town and we looked around. It was on the outside of town so there weren’t too many people around. Houses mostly and a lot of them looked like they should have been abandoned but they weren’t. We needed to find a large, abandoned area that was safe from sunlight.

We walked the streets together just trying to blend in so the locals didn’t think that we were up to anything shifty. Which, we weren’t really. We were just looking for a nest of vampires. Nothing that they needed to worry about.

We walked past the residential area and arrived at the loading docks. There was a little activity around the central part of the docks but we went to the furthest areas of the docks and people were a lot scarcer around there.

We were surrounded by storage containers and large factory type buildings so we started searching everything. All the storage containers and all the buildings. But we can up short on the east side of the docks. So we headed to the west side.

We were looking around those storage containers and the buildings and we got a mind link from Cade telling us to come to the next building over.

Tyler and I went over there and Cade and Aria were up on the fire escape so Tyler and I climbed up there too.

We peeped in a little hole and we saw people on the far end of the building asleep out of the sunlight but there were other people walking around and the shadow witch was there. Plus there was a cage full of humans that were still alive. Obviously there as food for the vampires.

"We have to get those people out." I say.

"We can’t do that without everyone else awake in there seeing us." Cade says.

"Unless you can unlock the cage from here." Tyler says.

"If they make a run for it on their own then that witchy bitch will kill them." I say.

"So, what do you think?" Aria asked.

"I think we need to tell the others that we’ve found their nest. The only problem is that I don’t see Josiah." I say.

"He probably doesn’t stay in the same place as them. To keep himself safe in case they are found." Cade says.

"Typical. He sounds like a fucking pussy." I say.

We climb down the fire escape and Tyler sends text messages to everyone to let them know where the nest is.

We meet everyone outside of the loading dock and point to the warehouse.

"We can attack during the day. The vampires are all huddled against one wall to avoid the sunlight. That we can handle. But the shadow witch was in there and there’s also a cage of humans. I’m not killing any humans. We have to get them out first." I explained.

"We need to come back tomorrow then. Fully stocked and ready to take them all on." Wyatt says.

"It won’t be too hard. Bust in there, use a smoke bomb to disorientate the vampires for a minute while we get the humans out and then use a real bomb and get out before we detonate it." I explain.

"Did you seriously just come up with that now?" Ethan asked.

"Are you seriously surprised?" Bella asked him mockingly.

"Yeah. You’re right. I shouldn’t be." Ethan says.

"Alright. We have a plan. Now we just need to get our hands on a bomb." Carter says.

"Oh. I can make that." I say as I start walking away.

"I have the scariest mate in history." Tyler says before slowly walking up behind me and putting his arm around me.

When we got back to the mansion I gathered all the supplies that I needed and took them into a room that wasn’t being used and I started putting all the pieces together and making sure that they were stable for transport.

It took me about five hours to make the bomb but it was well worth it. Knowing that I was going to be destroying Josiah’s army.

"So, how many vampires did you see in that warehouse?" Ruby asked as I walked into the courtyard.

"About 100. At least. And that’s what’s left of his army after Tessa killed the others the other night." Tobias says.

"Damn. He did have an impressive army." Elias says.

"It’s too bad that we can’t be there with you tomorrow." Ruby says.

"I’m not sure how Josiah is going to react to this attack. He could do something really stupid." Tobias says.

"Good. That’s usually when people are easiest to take down. When they’re not in their right mind." I answer.

"That is true. We need to be prepared tomorrow night." Naomi says.

"He won’t be stupid enough to come here on his own." Parker says.

"I kind of hope that he is. And we can put an end to all this bullshit." I say.

Everyone was hanging around have a few beers in the courtyard when I went to the back of the mansion and I sat on the grass in the field.

I crossed my legs and I tried to remember what happened when I lost control as a wolf and caught myself on fire. I sat there concentrating and concentrating and at first I didn’t think it was working. But I slowly opened my eyes and I saw that there was a large water droplet in front of my face about the size of my head. It was the moisture that I had risen up from the grass and combined into one. It was just floating there in midair.

I slowly let it go again and it slowly lowered back down to the ground and spread out. This time I kept my eyes open while I did it again. And I watched the water gather together and form into one large droplet in front of my face and then lowered it back down and let it go.

"You’re getting damn good." Tyler says coming up behind me and he sat on the ground next to me.

"Well, I still have two more elements." I say.

"Are you going to try them tonight?" He asked.

"Yeah. I don’t know if they’re going to work. But it’s worth a try." I said. So Tyler sat there very quietly and I concentrate really hard on the wind element. I tried to control the wind with my mind. The wind in the trees was blowing as usual until I stopped it and forced it to go the way that I wanted it to go. And then the other way. And then I let it go.

I tried to control the earth element too but it was way too hard. So I decided that it was for another day.

"Come on. It’s late and we’ve got a big day tomorrow. Let’s get to bed." Tyler says standing up and he helped me up as well.

We walked to the courtyard and said goodnight to everyone and headed upstairs to our room.

We had showers and got into bed and I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t nervous. I was actually terrified about tomorrow. what if the bomb doesn’t go off. What if something happens. What if the vampires get a hold of one of my friends. These were all things that you needed to prepare for when you went into battle. And I wasn’t prepared for any of it.

Tyler rolled over and put his arm over me so that my back was against his chest and he started rubbing his arms up and down.

"Calm down. Everything will be fine. Everything will go just fine. We’ve worked it all out and I know that neither of us or Ethan will let anything happen to anyone else." Tyler whispers in my ear before kissing the side of my head.

Having his arms around me actually calmed me down a lot and I was able to settle down to close my eyes and go to sleep. And that was all I wanted right now. A good night sleep.
