The Shadow of a Luna
Chapter 33

Chapter 33: Chapter 33

I wake up coughing from the explosion and I push some debris off of me and I sit up covered in dust and there is rubble everywhere and people. I start scurrying around from person to person to make sure that their alright.

I hear a lot of whooping and cheering outside and I see that it’s the vampires. They’re the ones that attacked us with Mitchell leading the attack.

I got to everyone and they were relatively unharmed, which was hard to believe but they got up and saw the vampires coming for us. So the vampires got their faces on ready to fight and the wolves shifted to wolf form. There were a lot of us and we were a lot bigger than they were used to.

Tyler stood in front of me. It was still painful for me to shift and they were waiting for their time.

’Stay here. Don’t shift.’ Tyler tells me in the mind link.

’But they’re here because of me. I have to help.’ I reply.

’No. You’re too important. You stay here.’ He commanded. And I watched as the wolves and vampires ran out toward the courtyard and the battle ensued.

I could hear the punches and I could hear the collision of bodies. Vampires on vampires. Vampires on werewolves. We were outnumbered, but we had strength and training on our side. All of our wolves were brilliant fighters.

I saw Tyler surrounded by four vampires. One had grabbed him around the middle of his stomach, and he could shake the vampire off and another one was coming for his head. I knew exactly what they were planning.

My body started shaking and in an instant I had shifted in my huge pure white wolf with piercing blue eyes and I ran out to the fight and I jumped over two wolves, a couple of vampires and I grabbed the one vampire approaching Tyler.

I grabbed it in my mouth and shook until there were two of him. I turned my deadly gaze on the vampire that was holding Tyler and I stalked around the side of Tyler and the vampire saw that I was actually bigger than Tyler and he let go.

He looked around trying to find a way out but while I had him distracted Tyler went for the kill and ripped his head clear of his body.

I then turned around and I got in on the fight as well. I saw there were more vampires piling into the fight from out in the street and we were severely outnumbered. I could feel my anger rising. I didn’t think I could feel any worse. But seeing my friends hurt. One vampire had hurt Cade really badly and he was lying on the ground with another vampire standing over him. Bella was surrounded by three vampires and couldn’t get out of it.

We were losing. I didn’t think that we would lose but we were. And I was starting to get angrier and angrier, and I finally raised up on my back legs and let out a huge roar before landing on my front paws and my whole body lit up in flames. freew\ebno\vel..(c)om

I looked up at everyone who was in complete shock and there were even flames in my eyes. I concentrated everything I had on the people that I wanted dead. I pictured them in my head, not my friends. I kept my friends out of my head and my family out of my head. Even Angelo. And I roared again as I ran faster than I thought possible and without even touching our enemies they caught on fire and screamed to their bloody deaths.

When our enemies were dead I looked around and there were only my friends left standing. And I looked at them really confused and my mind was muddled as block dots darted across my eyes and my whole body fell on it’s side as I lost consciousness.

TYLER POV

Tessa was incredible. Her wolf was on fire. And the fire was directed at her enemies. she never burnt any of us but when they were dead and she was in the middle of the courtyard I tried to reach her through the mind link but there was nothing there. A lot of muffled confusion. Like she didn’t know what was going on. And then she fell with a heavy thud and passed out.

I shifted back and ran to her; she had shifted back the second that she passed out.

"Someone get a towel." I yelled. So Carter ran into the house. He returned a couple seconds later with a towel and some shorts for me.

So I covered her with the towel and I put the shorts on. I picked her up and I carried her to our bedroom and laid her on the bed.

"What the hell was that?" Aria asked helping me pull back the blankets on the bed.

"I don’t know. But I think it has something to do with the witch training she’s been doing. And she must have just discovered fire. You saw that she lit that candle. That’s the first time she’s done that." I say confused.

"Well, she saved our asses. We were as good as dead out there." Bella says.

"Tell me about it. Her skin is burning still." I say as I felt her forehead. So I went to the bathroom and I got a cold washcloth and I came back and put it on her head.

"She’ll be okay. If anyone can fight this, then it’s definitely Tessa." Bella says.

"I know. She’ll be alright." I say.

Once I made sure that Tessa was comfortable I went back downstairs with Bella and Aria but I didn’t want to be away from her for too long.

"Well, that was something new." Angelo says.

"You might want to talk to Gladys about that." I say.

"I will be. Don’t worry about that. I’ll cancel her training for tomorrow. How the hell did she do that? And without hurting any of us?" Elias asked.

"I have no idea. But she obviously had no intention on hurting us. Otherwise, she would have. She did that on purpose. That much I am sure of." I assured them.

"Well, it looks like we picked the right side to be on here." Ruby says.

"I’m on Tessa’s side. Angelo can go to hell." Naomi says.

"Yeah. I’m all for that." Finn says.

"Don’t forget. She’s my daughter." Angelo says.

"By accident. You didn’t know you were going to get that wolf pregnant. Don’t pretend like it was planned." Elias says.

"I know you all hate me. How long are you going to make me suffer? It was over 600 years ago." Angelo yelled at them.

"You tortured us for months before you finally decided to turn us into vampires. You threatened to kill Finn’s baby boy. He was only 3 months old at the time. You tormented us and did everything you could to destroy us as humans. And then you blamed our mother for everything. She was a good woman. She never wanted this for her children." Ruby yelled.

"Alright. I don’t have time for this family bullshit. Can you get Gladys over here. Now. I want to know what the hell happened to my mate." I demanded.

"I’ll go call her. I’ll see if she can come over." Angelo says.

"You demand that she comes over. Because I want answers, now." I demanded going back upstairs.

I sat on the bed next to Tessa again and the washer that she had on her head was hot. So I took it to the bathroom and got another one that I soaked under the cold water and put that on her forehead and I grabbed a second one to put around her neck and on her chest. And I only left a sheet over her because she still wasn’t wearing any clothes.

"How is she?" Bella asked from the door.

"This isn’t doing anything. Can you grab that bucket and fill it with really cold water. I’m gonna have to stay here and rub the water on her. It’s the only way to keep her cool." I explained. So Bella took the bucket into the bathroom and filled it with cold water and bought it back.

She grabbed a second wash cloth and rubbed the other side of Tessa while I was on the left side of her.

"Thanks." I say.

"She’s my best friend. I don’t want her to die from this heat. This kind of heat would kill someone." She says.

"Yeah. A normal human it would kill. But we’re lucky. Wolves generally have a higher body temperature, so I’m counting on that right now to not kill her." I explained.

It wasn’t long after that when Angelo walked into the room with Gladys.

"Angelo explained what happened. Her wolf caught on fire and killed everyone in the courtyard. I saw the carnage. Their starting to clean it up now." Gladys says.

"Yeah. Can you explain what the hell happened and is she going to survive?" I asked.

"She’ll survive. The heat won’t kill her. She-wolves in normal heat have temperatures this high and they don’t die." Gladys says.

"Has Tessa had her first heat yet?" Bella asked.

"No. Not yet. Another reason we would like to get out of here. I don’t think her father wants to hear us going at it for a couple of days." I say glaring at Angelo.

"I can hide in the basement." Angelo retorts.

"She’s tapped into one of the elements. Fire. This is actually a good thing. She still has to figure out water, wind and earth. The other three elements." Gladys says.

"Well, we’re giving training a break for a few days." I insisted.

"Of course. That would have taken a lot out of her. I am impressed that she was able to do it so soon. What happened?" Gladys asked.

"She was angry. I could feel it. The anger was building up. Just getting worse and worse until it happened. I’m not sure how else to describe it." I explained.

"That’s the perfect way to explain it. Anger is a great motivator. Her friends and family were in danger and she did what needed to be done to protect them. She is indeed a Luna. A protector." Gladys says.

Bella and I stayed upstairs with Tessa through the rest of the night washing her down with cold washers and finally we could feel that her temperature was coming down. So we left her to rest for a while.

I went outside and almost everything had been cleaned up. Except for the explosion that Mitchell caused on the side of the house.

"I can get that fixed. I’ll have some people come over today and start working on it." Angelo says.

"Yeah. I have no doubt that you can get it done straight away." I say sarcastically.

"Is Tessa going to be okay?" Cade asked.

"Her temp is coming down. She’s going to be alright. I need to get out of here for a while. I’m going for a walk. I’ll be back later." I say grabbing a shirt and leaving the mansion.

’Cade. Keep an eye on Tessa. Don’t leave Angelo alone with her.’ I mind link Cade as I was leaving.

’Sure thing Alpha.’ He replied and I cut the link.

I wondered the streets for a while looking in all the weird voodoo shop windows and stuff like that. Looking around at all the weird things that New Orleans has to offer. And I just couldn’t wait until we got back home. This place was becoming too much for me. I needed to get Tessa out of here. I needed to find a way to break that binding spell and get her out of that mansion.

I was so pissed off and confused and worried and scared all at the same time. That’s why I needed to get out of there. Even though Tessa is passed out, I knew that she would be able to feel feelings and she didn’t need that right now. Not when her body is trying to repair itself. So I needed to get some distance between us so that my feelings weren’t so strong near her. I would just walk it off until I calmed down. That was the only thing that I could do for her right now. And it was killing me. I needed to be the one there to take care of her. Especially because I don’t trust Angelo. But also because she is my mate and I needed to be the one to be there for her.

If she wakes up and I’m not there then that would make me a pretty shitty mate. So I started taking deep breaths and trying to calm myself down. And I stopped in at a bar and I got a drink that might help calm me down a bit. I saw a table of girls looking at me but I looked away. I obviously wasn’t interested.

"Hey baby. You want some company?" One of them asked as she sat next to me.

"No." I said bluntly.

"Come on. Someone like you shouldn’t be drinking alone." She says.

"Go find some other sap to leech off of. I’m not interested." I say turning away from her. So she finally got up and walked away.

Fucking leeches.
