The Shadow of a Luna
Chapter 35

Chapter 35: Chapter 35

The next morning was a little tense around the mansion. Angelo and his siblings stayed awake and we stayed inside with them all until we were ready to leave. They were worried for us. Well, for me at least. I know that they don’t really care about wolves. But I was their blood. So I knew that they were worried for me.

Hardly any of them would leave my side for very long at a time but I have to say, it was nice to actually have family that cared about me. It was a really weird feeling.

Tyler and the others stayed back while I was in the living room with Angelo, Elias, Charles, Finn, Naomi and Ruby. We were getting to know each other a whole lot better and trying to lighten the mood a bit and we were actually all mostly paying out on Angelo. They looked like they still resented him for what he did, but at the end of the day, they showed up when he needed them. So I guess there isn’t as much animosity as they want everyone to believe. And he wasn’t taking anything they said to heart. He was laughing and kidding around with them too. It’s the most I’ve seen him kid around since I met him.

We were actually one big happy family for a moment there. And I glanced over in the dining room and Tyler was sitting at the end of the table just watching us with a smile on his face and he winked at me. He could feel how happy I was at this moment and he was happy for me. I finally had the family connection that I’ve been craving my whole life. Too bad that it happened this late and not when I was 6 years old. I could have grown up with a loving mother and father if Daniel didn’t get in the way.

I quickly push those thoughts out of my head. I didn’t want to think about him. He was dead and he didn’t deserve my thoughts on him. He deserved to stay dead and buried. Or burnt. But I did smile when I think about the look on his face if he could see me sitting here with Angelo. He would be completely livid. And that was definitely worth smiling about.

For vampires my aunts and uncles were actually pretty cool people. They didn’t kill humans. I noticed that they ripped off blood banks and that sort of stuff. So they didn’t kill people at all. They were, I guess, decent vampires. Who stole charity blood, which wasn’t so good, but it was so much better than the alternative. I was proud of them for the way that they lived. I loved the way that they lived. And I was more than happy to have them in my life for the rest of my life if that’s the way that they wanted to live.

"Alright guys. Sorry to break this up. It’s time." Tyler says at the doorway. I knew that he was giving us as much time together as possible this morning. But we really did need to get going.

"Alright. Well, I guess I will see you all shortly." I say standing up.

"You better come back to us." Elias says hugging me. And I hugged Naomi, Finn and Ruby. And Angelo walked up and cupped my face.

"I’m sorry for everything that I did. I didn’t realize what I was doing by keeping you here. I hope that one day you can forgive me." He says.

"I will forgive you. You can count on that." I say. And he hugged me really tight like he didn’t want to let me go.

Ruby and Naomi hugged Tyler as well and the guys shook his hand.

"You make sure that you bring her back to us." Elias says to Tyler.

"I will. Nothing is happening to her under my watch." Tyler says.

So we all grabbed our stuff and we headed out the door and straight to the loading docks.

I climbed up the fire escape on my own this time with my backpack and all I saw were the vampires and the people in the cage.

’The shadow witch isn’t here.’ I mind link the rest of my pack. And they passed it on to Ethan’s pack members.

’Do you want to abort?’ Tyler asked.

’No. We go ahead with the plan.’ I say. And I take my backpack off and start places pieces of the bomb on the windowsill at the fire escape and then I climbed down and I placed pieces all around the base of the building before pulling the wick all the way back to a safe distance.

Angelo had limited things in his mansion. And detonation wire wasn’t one of them. So I needed to go old school with a wick. It just meant that it was going to take longer to explode.

When everything was in place half went to the front entrance and half went to the back exit and we mind linked each other to use the bolt cutters and cut the chains from the doors that had the locks on the inside.

Once the chains were cut off we each threw three smoke bombs in from the front and back totally six of them and we hurried inside.

The vampires were woken up by the smoke bombs and they started running around with their eyes burning and not being about to see but they knew that they were under attack and they were ready to attack back.

I saw Ethan, Wyatt and Kaylee fighting off some vampires and I grabbed the bolt cutters and I cut the chain to the cage and I rushed the humans out to the front door where they were met by Bella and Aria who got them to safety.

But I was more concerned about the humans and I wasn’t paying attention to my surroundings and one vampire came up on the right of me and sunk his teeth into my shoulder.

I let out a huge growl and I heard Tyler yell my name but I turned on my heels and grabbed that vampire by his shirt and flipped him on his back. He quickly jumped to his feet and I punched him in the face and I spun around and kicked him fare in the chest and he flew 10 feet backwards against the wall.

I ran into the warehouse to see that everyone was out and that none of my people were in. They were still involved in fights in the shadows and I raised my arms and the warehouse started ripping apart. A panel flew off the roof which let in more sunlight and the vampires retreated back to the corner of the room and I ripped off a panel from the side of the building which made their space even smaller.

"I don’t think we needed those explosives at all." I heard Ethan say.

"Yeah. Me either." Tyler says standing back watching what I was doing. But then suddenly I was hit from behind and thrown across the room.

I got up to see the shadow witch standing at the back exit of the warehouse.

"You bitch." I said getting up.

"Alright. Now it’s time to go." Tyler says. But he stopped when he saw flames in my eyes instead of my blue eyes. They were actual flames and he thought that this might not be good to get in the middle of.

She hits me a second time and I hit the cement wall again with a lot of force and I see Tyler and Ethan try to fight her to make her stop but she only raises one hand and they are frozen in their spot. They can’t move any closer to her. But I use that time to get to my feet and face her head on.

The witch used her hand and threw a powerful bolt of electricity my way but I blocked it off with a string of fire coming from my hand. I then used the wind to create a fire ball that wrapped around the witch.

She fought against it but I kept it in place and I felt something thick dripping down my lip. I didn’t know what it was. And I didn’t really care right now. I needed to keep her contained.

She was screaming in the fire ball and I could smell burning flesh and I knew that it was actually hurting her but then she raised her arms up and the shadows appeared from behind her and approached me with significant force and knocked me off my feet and I dropped the fireball.

I got back up and the shadows were surrounding me and I couldn’t see the witch anywhere and I used the wind element to force the shadows to move. They fought against it but I put more power behind it forcing them to move and they retreated. I wasn’t scared of them anymore. And now I knew that I could fight the shadows as well. And now they knew that. I wasn’t as weak as I was. But now they knew that I had training. It was an advantage and disadvantage.

I looked for the shadow witch but she was no longer there. She used that opportunity to run away and I was going to go after her when someone grabbed me around the waist and took me in the other direction towards the front entrance.

The vampires were still huddled together in the corner and everyone else ran out ahead of us. But from the tingles I felt around my stomach, I knew that it was Tyler that was holding me and getting me out of there.

We were the last two out so I made him stop halfway to the safe point and I bent down and created fire with my finger and lit the wick from there and then we ran to the safe point and jumped over the cars and trucks that we were hiding behind.

It only took about 30 seconds before the whole warehouse exploded into nothing but the foundation and nothing more. Debris was falling everywhere and we needed to still shield ourselves where we were hiding. But we could hear the screams of those vampires that were burning to death.

Tyler then grabbed my chin with his thumb and forefinger and grabbed a cloth and wiped my face and nose.

"Are you alright? You don’t feel faint or anything?" He asked concerned.

"No. What are you doing? Why are you wiping my face?" I asked.

"Because you made your nose bleed." He says.

"Oh. That’s what that was. I didn’t know." I say.

"You’re sure that you’re alright?" He asked.

"I’m positive. I’m fine. That was nothing." I say.

"It looked like a lot from where we were." Carter says. I then turn around and I jump and push back against the truck that I’m leaning against because the shadows are in front of us.

"Tesssssa..." She hissed." You think you won. You just signed your death warrant. We’re coming for you." She warned.

"I’m counting on it." I state back boldly.
