Chapter 91: Derick’s Visit

Liam remembered the oddly high-security measures in Rory’s grandmother’s house. Till then, he thought that those security measures are to protect Agnes Roberts who is mysterious.

But what if something happened in the past, that made Agnes up the security measures of her house? What if it was to protect Rory?

But what happened to Rory?

His mother... No matter what he hears from others, the first image that comes to his mind when he thinks of his mother is her lying lifeless in a tub of blood in the bathroom.

I won’t let my Cherry have that ending. I am not going to leave her side!

"You’re nothing like my mother, Cherry. You’re not..."

"What if...like your mother...when I was sleeping...someone..." Rory couldn’t even imagine that possibility.

"Oh, shut up!" Liam bit her lips to stop her from speaking further. "You were what...12 or 13 when you started getting that dream. Come on, Cherry... If such a thing happened, that guy would be incarcerated and probably be killed by the state. Your grandmother wouldn’t have let him live in peace. So..."

"If my grandmother loved me, she would have scorched the land that man’s shadow falls after making him stop breathing. But, my grandma doesn’t love me enough to even smile at me, Fizzy..." Rory smoked wryly.

"But her dignity is tied to your wellbeing, Rory. She wouldn’t take it lightly if someone lays their hands on you. Youre her family. And... I think she loves you... In her own~"

"No, she does not, Fizzy. I am sure of it," Rory sat up.

Liam wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her close. He didn’t know what to say to her. He was scared for her.

Rory thought about what Liam said. Her grandmother must have a lot of enemies after getting where she is. Maybe one of those enemies tried to get back at her.

"Maybe it was an attempt to kill me... Or maybe it was just it—a nightmare. And maybe... I should ask about it," she looked at Liam and he nodded.

"That’s a good idea," he said. "And maybe we can stay in your grandmother’s house if you are up for it. My house... I want some peace and a little time alone, Rory. What do you say?" He asked.

He thought it would be better for Rory to be in that secure place rather than in his house where they won’t even lock their door at night.

"Yeah...I’ll think about it," Rory said and Liam saw her eyelids getting heavy with sleep.

"Come on, get some sleep," he covered her and gently caressed her back. Within a minute he heard her slight snore.

She must be very tired.

He looked at Ellie and she was trying to roll over and he got to her and laid by her side, facing Rory.

He thought his connection with Laura Brown would be big trouble, but the recent happenings made him believe that Rory is in much bigger and invisible trouble.

Red roses... I need to ask her about the roses!

He sent messages to Mia and asked about the flowers Rory received.

Mia told him that the last bouquet she received was of red roses.

Could it be that bald Mr.Piles who sends her roses?

Whatever! That guy can go f#ck himself!

Liam decided to forget about the flowers. The stalker must be from around here.

Oh, Cherry... Why do you have to be this beautiful? And why do all the guys want to give you red roses?

Even in high school, he would come across love letters addressed to Rory. Almost every single one of them referred to her hair and most of them compared her to a rose—a red rose.

He still remembered one horny bastard’s nasty letter where he made comparisons between wet red rose petals to Rory’s...crotch. He also didn’t fail to mention that his shlong is thick and long, and how she will be drunk with his milk if she agrees to be his night flower(whatever that means).

Well, he mixed laxatives in his drinks and later learned that he couldn’t even stand straight without splashing. That’s not important.

The main point is, that he hated roses. He despised red roses. Are they hailed as the universal symbol of love? F#ck it!

Who needs roses when we have our Heathers and baby’s breath flowers?

He would never send her roses. She should have known it.

Maybe that’s why she didn’t accept them? I should talk to her about it.

He also decided to talk to Mrs. Delport to learn what they know about the stalker.

-----

With his phone in his ear, the man zipped his trousers. He put the toilet seat down along with the lid and flushed the toilet.

"Hmm..." His lips curved to a dangerous smirk hearing the news from the other end. Without speaking anything further, he ended the call.

The nerves in his hand twisted and turned as he slowly got the phone away from his ear. A small cracking noise was heard. A long crack formed on the phone screen. Gritting his teeth, he almost bashed the phone on the porcelain washbasin, but he took in a deep breath.

"Liam...Liam... You should have gone through the divorce...You should have left my little rose to me... And now..."

His ominous laugh echoed in the small powder room decorated with lace curtains and monogrammed hand towels.

"I can’t let you go now, right... I won’t let you go now... You’ve long trampled on my grace..."

-----

Liam didn’t know when he fell asleep, but he did. He didn’t have a peaceful sleep as his mother’s image kept on popping up in bis brain.e

He woke up, smelling something sinister and there was something warm stuck to his face. He opened his eyes to brightness and the sweet smell of... His daughter’s poop.

"Ah! Why are you making me smell your poop?" He grumbled and got up.

He couldn’t believe how she ended up with her diaper on his face. He checked on Rory and she was still asleep. He checked her temperature and it was down.

"Come on... Don’t start your crying," he picked up Ellie and brought her to the changing table to change her.

"Youre going to get hungry now, aren’t you?" He poked her nose and just like clockwork, she started to cry.

Rory woke up and Liam gave Ellie to her. "Soldier reporting to base camp," he said in a wry tone.

"Oh, don’t mind that stupid father of yours, Ellie..." Rory got Ellie.

At that time, they heard the door knock. Liam looked at Rory who was about to feed Ellie and nodded.

"I’ll take care of it." He walked to the door.

Rory saw Liam leaving with a smile. It is nice to have him around. He always takes good care of her when she is sick.

"Derick!" Liam smiled and Rory heard the door click.

She was excited.

Derick’s here for a visit! I have a lot to talk to him!
