Chapter 54: Jealousy And Apology

Rory shrugged. "I hope so... It’s like I am..."

She played with her food bowing her head without finishing her sentence. With everyone keeping a distance from her including Liam, she felt lonely. She lost her parents and there are very few people who loves her and she loves unconditionally. Losing even one of them hurt like hell.

She started wondering if they are leaving her for a reason. That she is someone despicable and undeserved of love.

Liam could not see her eyes. But he can say that she is not in a good mood. He didn’t know what he could do. He lost his appetite and stood up.

Rory picked up her phone to distract herself. Lately, she is getting depressed a lot and she didn’t want to slip up. She has a baby to look after now. She cannot devolve into the sad state she was in after her parents’ death.

Ian—her old friend from her homeland has become a very popular celebrity on a popular social media platform. He plays games, does live streams, and uploads other sorts of videos. He currently has almost 50 million subscribers. Although she does not understand his content much, she was following his channel closely to see when he reaches the 50 million mark.

They used to be very close back then. They practically grew up together. Since she had to leave abruptly, she lost contact with him. She found him a couple of years back when she was just scrolling through her phone.

She never thought he would become someone who plays games. He used to be an outdoorsy person. The two of them used to be together always and they knew the entire town like the back of their hands. How he got the habit of sitting on a chair, playing games—she didn’t know.

But he is a multi-millionaire now which should be good. She didn’t try to contact him after she found him as she wasn’t sure that he would remember her still. It has been years.

"Wow! Ian has gotten 49,989,349 subscribers already! He’d reach 50 million today!" Rory screamed with a smile. "I don’t want to miss it! Whoa! It’s already 49,989,876..90 now, " she said after refreshing.

"That guy already reached 50 million?" Liam raised his brows. He remembered Rory celebrating him getting 30 million subs last year. Did he get 20 million subs in just under a year?

He did not feel good seeing that smile on her face. She knows nothing about his business, but she is getting happy for some guy she once knew. He knew he was her "first friend" as she would remember him fondly, but the dark hair and hazel eyes... He used to wonder if he might be her first love.

Rory told him that he is an actual royalty with the title of Count he would inherit from her father. She was under the impression that he might have forgotten her. But Liam found the name of his channel very disturbing.

Rory always pronounced that name as that gamer did. Roris-Countians. His fans called themselves the Rorians. Maybe he is the only one who could see it...

He didn’t care about that. He is thousands of miles away from them and he is not a threat. But still... he could not bear that smile on her face. He wanted to get her phone from her hand. But then he stopped himself.

"Have you subscribed to him yet?" Rory got his phone and took the liberty of getting her old friend one more subscriber not knowing that she is giving Liam heartburn.

"Is it the baby?" Liam got his phone back. She started staring at the statistics of that guy’s channel and he wanted to distract her.

"No," Rory said after listening for some time. "I don’t hear anything." She continued staring at the phone. "Ooh! It is rising very fast now... I think his fans are campaigning...Yes! I’m right... He is trending everywhere...Who knows? Maybe his fans are creating new accounts to get subscribed to him. He has a lot of loyal followers..." she grinned.

"I am planning on buying you a private ski resort in Switzerland," Liam said to distract her.

He has already bought it. The first property he bought after amassing a large amount of money was this. He knows how much Rory loves the snow. She is scared of riding a bike, but she slays skiing.

He wanted to know her thoughts and so he told her that he is planning to.

The smile on Rory’s face disappeared. "No. Don’t buy for me." Her reply was curt. Her eyes didn’t leave the screen, but her hand holding the phone lowered. She was displeased.

"Why?" Liam asked. He never thought she would reply like this. He expected that she would jump in joy and kiss him. "It’s a gift for you..."

Rory let out a scoff.

Gift? For me? Who wants his gift?

"You used to fight with me every frigging day asking me for gifts back then, Cherry. And now~"

"Yeah! You were my husband then!" Rory interjected him.

Liam’s heart skipped a beat. Rory let out a deep breath seeing Liam’s pale face. She didn’t mean to whip him like this.

"Buy whatever you want for yourself, Fizzy," she forced a smile. He was still staring at her with an astonished look. "I won’t ask for gifts anymore..." She chuckled.

He was staring at her without saying anything. She held his hand. "Come to think of it... I was pretty nasty with you back then, huh? Yeah... I made your life tough. You suffered a lot. Ha! I was so stupid back then. I apologize..."

Liam stared at her as if she was speaking unintelligible words. She understood him. She didn’t remember apologizing to him for anything even if she knew what she did was wrong. Maybe that’s what made him hate her. He might even be traumatized.

They had a very rough time when they were in their final year. She was falling deeper in love with him and without knowing what he thinks, she was very insecure. She wanted to know what he feels about her, but he as usual never was open with her. She wanted something... some little proof that he is with her because he loved her.

But he never gave her any proof except for the kisses and embraces they shared. That was not enough for her. She wanted something more from him. She wanted his confession.

But he never gave her what she wanted and she showed her frustration by lashing out at him for little things. They stopped getting intimate less as she felt "used" by him. He got mad at her and his eyes wandered towards Allison.

Maybe it’s all my fault!

She wanted to explain to him why she acted the way she did.
