The Secret Obsession of the CEO -
Chapter 164: Leaving With Him
Chapter 164: Leaving With Him
Rory tried to get Liam up, but she couldn’t. She saw his calf muscles spasming hard. She could see the twitch of his muscles and she started patting it not knowing what else to do. Her eyes watered imagining the pain he might be in.
"Aurora!"
She turned hearing the familiar voice filled with anger. It was Lennon. She couldn’t believe that he is already there. And he did not look impressed the least. It was shocking for her to see him being so expressive considering what he is.
"Uncle," she stood up not bothering to wipe the tears rolling down her cheeks. "Liam, he...
Tell them to help him..." she grabbed his hands.
"Yes," Lennon patted her hand. And then he turned at the chief and shouted at him. "What is going on here? How could you treat someone in your custody like this? I am going to talk to the President right now..."
Lennon went on. Rory didn’t even turn to look at Liam. He was helped up by the guards and the chief although stunned listened to Lennon. Rory looked at Lawyer Watson who was oddly silent and rubbing his wrist he was contemplating something.
"Come with me," Lennon grabbed Rory’s hands and she walked behind him obediently.
"Rory! Stop!" Liam shouted but she didn’t stop. With tear-filled eyes, she looked back at him.
"Are you going to doubt me with your uncle too, Liam?" she asked.
Liam slipped as he tried to take a step forward. "No, Rory... You don’t understand! Don’t leave! Stop!" he shouted as loud as his damaged throat would let him.
She cannot go with that guy! That guy is the one who is framing him.
When he was sleeping under her bed that night, it was Lennon he saw by her window. And when he walked to the window to confront him, he said that he came there to see him and that he always knew that he was staying with Rory.
Lennon was the one who scared him that night and asked him to leave the room and surrender to the police. He was so intent on making him leave. But he did not. And he watched Lennon leaving the house using the same shortcut he and Rory use.
And yet, he believed that Lennon came that night for him. That’s why he didn’t mention that visit to Rory and he didn’t even doubt how Lennon knew their secret path. He trusted him very much.
He was the one who learned of his attraction towards Rory first in his family. He thought that Lennon would mock him, but Lennon was so supportive of him. He was the one who helped him make that video and he even gave him some "unseen" pictures of Rory.
He thought Lennon truly cared for him and his love for Rory. And that’s what bonded him to him. And when he talked to him about his business ventures and his plans for the future, Liam was starstruck. His opinion of his uncle went higher in his heart.
But he... He was planning everything as he could see now. He didn’t even want to think about Lennon as he was very much worried about Rory.
Liam couldn’t even understand what she was doing. She appeared to be fine when she was with him. He knew she was hurt, but she was helping him.
But the moment Lennon appeared...
Liam thought there should be more to it than it seems. She never was that close with Lennon. Maybe in those days, when he was absent, did Lennon get close to her? And even then...
It was then he remembered that she asked specifically about the Queen of all Argyll DVD he made. She wanted to know who helped him. And when he said that it was Lennon, she...
Liam understood what she was doing. She is planning on doing something, alone. She knows Lennon is the bad guy.
Lawyer Watson looked at the Chief. He blinked as he didn’t understand what was going on either. They got a call from Gordon Faraday to do what "Lady" Aurora wants them to do. And what should they do if she is leaving with Lennon?
Liam got out of the hold of the guard. He knew he cannot shout to the world that Lennon is the bad guy. No one will believe him. Lennon has bought some higher-up in the department and that’s why he was being held here as a hostage with no human basic decency getting spared to him.
He cannot trust anyone here...except...
He ran to the lawyer and grabbed his lapel. "My wife... save her..." he begged. But he was perplexed and stared at him.
"What are you meaning to say, Mr. Roberts?" He asked.
"I... She is in danger. The killer is out there still. And he kills women with red hair. Aurora, my wife... She is in immediate danger!" he shouted.
"Calm down," The lawyer patted his shoulder. He got what he meant. The panic on his face and the desperation...It all started after he saw Lennon. And the lawyer already was doubting Lennon. For someone to pull so many strings in the agency, it requires someone with Lennon’s influence.
But Leroy Roberts thought that maybe Agnes Roberts is responsible for keeping Fitzwilliam Roberts in custody. And so he investigated having that in mind.
He learned that his client abandoned his wife all through pregnancy and childbirth. But his wife still loved him. He thought that Agnes Roberts must have planned to eliminate the irresponsible grandson-in-law from her granddaughter’s side.
But he couldn’t find a single instance where Agnes showed her love to her granddaughter. And he had to scrap that idea. But he still had doubts. Aurora was the only grandchild of Agnes and she would have some love for her.
But even Aurora didn’t think that her grandmother loves her.
And so, he had to conclude that Agnes has nothing to do with anything that is going on with Fitzwilliam Roberts.
And if it is not her, the only other person that Leroy doubted was...his brother.
But there is no proof that even points toward Lennon. Lennon has solid alibis at the times of every disappearance and murder. Even when the parts of Allison’s body were distributed, there is proof that Lennon was elsewhere.
Unless he was not working alone.
There is another suspect who might be helping Lennon—Jake, Liam’s assistant.
But there is no solid evidence against them that would successfully exonerate Liam.
"I want to talk to my client, alone," Watson told the chief.
The chief did not look very pleased but he agreed to it. Liam was relieved. Now he can discuss it with the lawyer. His first priority is to save Rory.
Rory sat beside Lennon burying her chin in her chest. Tears rolled down her cheeks and fell on her hands that were clasped together.
"Stop crying," Lennon patted her back.
Rory’s hair stood on the edge and she clenched her jaws to compose herself. But she continued on with her act.
"How could he, uncle?" she looked at him with a pout. Her eyes were puffed and her entire face was red invoking the pity of anyone. But if Lennon is what she thinks he is—a psychopath—he won’t be moved by it.
On the contrary, he will figure out that she is very vulnerable and will try and manipulate her more.
And then he will hurt her... Or worse, kill her.
But she didn’t think Lennon would do that to her now that Liam is in prison. He wants to make everyone believe that Liam is the murderer. And when he is in prison, and when it is obvious that she left with him, he won’t hurt her.
So, she was a bit relaxed.
She called Bobby earlier and he mentioned that the Roberts family is in disarray trying to search for Sidney. And she had a feeling that Lennon has her. There is only one way to find out the entire truth.
She didn’t know why but she still hoped that Lennon is the victim and Jake is the mastermind. She did not want Liam to end up getting devastated. He is a stupid f*cktard, but he cannot be hurt.
She wanted to go with Lennon to where he takes her. It would be better if it is his old mansion. She can lead him there if possible. And once there, she can try to find out if Lennon is hiding secrets.
Because she thought about it all. She couldn’t even sleep for a couple of days and that’s all she could think of. She even pretended with Lennon that everything is fine and dainty between them just because she wanted Lennon not to get wary of her.
She is not an expert but she truly believed that Lennon is not doubting her. He is believing her act.
But that does not mean that she is out of danger. Lennon could still hurt her just to give Liam a devastating blow. Lennon knows that one of the ways to destroy Liam is to hurt her.
She did not want to back off anymore. Not after she saw what is happening with Liam.
