Chapter 156: Her Husband(2)

Chapter 156: Her Husband(2)

She wanted to better herself. She even changed her doctor as the previous doctor was not working for her. She joined support groups, took walks, did yoga, and did every possible thing that might make her better.

She wanted to be better for her daughter and her lovely husband who was extremely supportive of her.

She wanted to be more like him. He was so lovely and so forgiving. His family hated him. There was no falsehood in that. They hated him. They didn’t care what happened to him. They won’t even invite him to their family functions or for thanksgiving and Christmas.

But Lennon would be there, even when he was not invited. ’They are family,’ he’d say. ’Family stays together.’

She always wondered how someone would be so saintly to go back to their home only to be treated with contempt. She hated that family for treating him like that.

But looking back now, she could see that they are all smart people. They could see the monster in him when she failed to do so.

And it was very late when she figured out why her husband stepped foot inside that house even when he was not welcomed there. Even when no one invites him, even when they try hard to keep it a secret, he would go there.

She thought he learned of it through Liam. But she later learned that her husband was constantly spying on that family to have reasons to be there.

And Liam... She thought he loved that boy dearly. There were times when she was jealous of Liam.

But, he was just a pawn for that monster’s game, just like she was.

Not knowing the true face of her husband, she tried hard to better herself to be suitable for him. But she faced more and more troubles. Her condition only deteriorated.

She started forgetting things. One day she was preparing the bath for Skyla. She ran the bathtub as usual. She readied Skyla for the bath. The girl was a little fuzzy that day and refused to get inside the water unless Aina got inside with her. Aina was the teacup poodle she raised in their home.

Upon Skyla’s insistence, she called for the dog and the dog got inside first. And immediately it screamed in agony and before she could get it out, the dog died.

She had not mixed the water and the tub was filled with boiling hot water.

She was trying. And she failed. That incident... seeing the terrified expression of her daughter and her shouts seeing the dead dog in the water, the painful nights where Skyla had nightmares...

She realized that she is not getting better. And she never will.

And the same old thought reared its ugly head inside her mind once more. And this time, she even came up with a better idea.

Rather than ending her life, she decided to stop her medications. That way, her daughter would think that she died of sickness. She did not want her daughter to think that her mother abandoned her and killed herself.

And so, she left everything to fate.

But that was when the magic happened. The first few days she stopped taking the medications, she was feeling worse. Her "caring" husband took her to different doctors to see what was wrong with her.

Through all these, he never complained. Her family did not like the partner she chose and after marriage, her relationship with her family became next to non-existence. He didn’t have family support too. And he had a very large company to look after.

And yet, he was always there for her, offering her the help she needed. It only accentuated the guilt she felt.

She stopped the medications. After the first few days of terrible pain, she started to feel better. She thought she would spiral deep into darkness, but the opposite happened. Her mind cleared and she started to feel sane after a very long time.

Her recovery after stopping the medications her husband insisted that she takes, didn’t even spark doubt in her heart. She still trusted her husband. She still loved him.

And she started to see things in a different light.

It was as if there was a misty curtain that was over her eyes for the past years when she was taking those medications. Without the medications, the curtain was gone, and she saw everything in high definition.

She saw that her husband was less than impressed seeing her up and about and laughing. She saw that her husband still insisted that she takes the medication even after she said that she is feeling better. She saw that her husband is not very interested in sleeping with her although he swore that he loved her. She saw that of everyone in the family, her husband is very interested in one particular person.

Aurora!

And it was then she saw a terrible thing that turned her life into hell.

She saw her husband jerking off to a picture. That itself made her heart sink. Because the thought that her husband is thinking of another woman to get off made her sad. She even wondered if it was cheating. She wondered how long her husband has been doing it.

And she wanted to know who was in the picture.

Her curiosity to know which woman is beautiful enough to seduce her husband became her downfall.

She hated her. Although it was clear from the picture that she didn’t know that she was pictured, although she knew that she was just a little girl who cannot be looked at by a grown man that way...

She was mad at her.

That innocent smile, that fiery red hair, the perfect pale skin, the youthful suppleness of her curves...

She hated her. She hated Aurora Roberts.

She was caught. Her husband caught her red-handed as she went through his stuff.

And then it started.

The life of hell she’s been leading for the past couple of years.

He modified her. He modified every part of her body to look like "her". The constant surgeries and the pain as she went through the recovery almost made her go mad. Just as she would heal from one surgery, she would be put through another.

The shape of "her" breasts are better, and so she had to alter her breasts. The color of "her" nipples were the best and so she should change it. "Her" eyes were blue and so she should wear contacts when he is making love to her, "her" lips were always red and so she should wear the same shade of lipstick as her...

One thing he never allowed was to change her hair color. She didn’t know why he didn’t want her to make that change as it is the painless change, she could make to look more like her.

’Rory’ ’Rory’

He’d call as he made love to her. When she said she did not like it, he broke her jaw that day. From then on, he’d cover her face when he used her when he needed her. And it was always that name that came out of his mouth.

So much pain, so much suffering...

She couldn’t bear it. She wanted an escape. She thought death would give her escape.

But she was not allowed to.

And that was not all.
