Chapter 155: Her Husband
Chapter 155: Her Husband
Curled up inside that small place, Sidney couldn’t even breathe. She was in a fetal position, and she knew it is not good for the baby.
She could not see anything, but she could feel that they are moving, and it was loud. She wondered if she is being shipped in a cargo flight. She did not worry about that as she was worried more about another thing. As she observed, she found that the movement of the baby inside her womb has slowed down considerably. If this continues...
Please... Let me out...
Tears streamed down her face. As much as she hated the father of her baby, she did not find it in her heart to hate the little being in her belly. It’s innocent.
I did everything you asked me for... Why? I just want to leave... Please... I will disappear forever... Please, let me live. Let my babies live...
She couldn’t even get a sniffle out as her mouth was tied so tightly. She didn’t know how long she cried but someone moved the suitcase.
Thinking that it is the luggage carrier, she tried hard and kicked the case of the suitcase. She knew the one who planned for her transfer this way would have paid enough people to bring her where he wants to. But still, she hoped that someone would notice her and somehow, she would be saved.
She could only hope that she would be rescued. Because if she is not, she knew what will happen to her. She is going to suffer a terrible death.
She struggled as much as she could. The loud sound still impaired her hearing. She guessed it must be the sound of the airplane. And she vaguely heard a conversation between a man and a woman.
Rory... Is that Rory?
She wriggled harder. She should have told Rory everything right from the start and maybe she wouldn’t have ended up here. She thought by doing what he asks of her, she would be spared. But it was naive of her, once again, to trust a psychopathic killer.
’Ahh’
She screamed in pain as the shoe of a man kicked the suitcase as hard as he could. She recognized that kick. This was not the first time he is kicking her like this. And kicking is nothing compared to what he had done to her.
Her dearest husband... Lennon Roberts.
He could be described in many words. People know him as a devoted husband and a lovely father who would give his life for his family. He is the heartthrob of many women, a billionaire, a philanthropist, and an adept businessman; he is smart, articulate, handsome, and so forth.
But she knew the real him.
The psychopathic killer!
It was not all planned. There was a time, not so long ago, when she was entirely mesmerized by him. She thought she hit the jackpot. That she married the kindest and sexiest man a girl could get. She believed he is the best father in the whole world. She thought he understood her the best and is doing his best to protect her.
And she let him manipulate her.
There were signs even earlier on. Once she found stacks of meat in the freezer he keeps in the garage-his man cave. He said they were venison. She doubted it then. She knew venison. The meat in the freezer was not.
But she forgot about it. She found out that her husband is building a mansion just for her and their baby.
And there were other signs. He would often leave for days at times. She told her that he had to attend various business meetings. She did doubt if he was cheating on her. And when she tried to investigate, it led nowhere.
He showered her with gifts and vacations constantly. She convinced herself that she was wrong. It was easy for her to believe that her husband is loyal to her.
And then it started. She could feel him slowly distancing from her after the birth of their daughter. It was hard for her to take care of her daughter. He arranged for her to visit a psychiatrist.
She knew she was stressed as any new mother would be. But she didn’t think that she was depressed enough to take antidepressants. But her husband showered her with love and care and convinced her to follow what the doctor prescribed for her.
And she was not getting better. She only got worse each day. And she listened to her husband and did everything he asked of her out of care.
She started to get depressed more and more. She had to smile for others, and she did not want to humiliate her successful husband in front of others, and she had to take care of her baby without getting angry at her.
One day, she almost hit the then two-year-old Skyla for not finishing her dinner. It was that day, she realized that she is definitely unwell. She wanted to get better. She didn’t want to scare her daughter again.
She continued the medications, and it only made her anxiety worse. But she did her best. Her husband started to buy her skin treatments and expensive spa days. Without saying anything, he was saying that she was losing her youthful supple skin and body.
It made her more depressed.
She listened to the other wives she was acquainted with and started doing various procedures on her face to regain her youth. But she could see that it was not pleasing her husband.
She still thought that the fault was with her. Skyla grew up and she started to distance herself from her. It hacked her. She wanted to be better. But nothing she did was enough.
She would meet other women who are in the same social status as her. It was mandatory as making connections with other women and hence their families is helpful for her husband. Whenever other women talked about her husband, they all spoke how loyal he is compared to their husbands.
But rather than being proud, she felt guilty; guilty for ruining the life of such a perfect husband.
She wanted to die. She even made an elaborate plan to kill herself. She almost enacted it.
But that day, Skyla returned home with a fever. She was so terrified as one of her classmates had lost her mother in an accident.
As she comforted the sick child who sobbed in her embrace telling her not to leave her ever, she changed her mind.
But that was not the end of it.
