The Secret Obsession of the CEO -
Chapter 154: The Apartment
Chapter 154: The Apartment
The chauffeur gave the money to the security and he with a polite nod accepted the money. "His guest?" he asked him, and the chauffeur nodded.
The security acted very politely with her. He even offered to carry her luggage and she didn’t refuse him. She was led to Lennon’s apartment in the VIP elevator. The security had the key to the apartment, and he opened the door.
Rory waited for him to give her the key. And it took some time for the security to understand that. With an apology, he handed over the key to the apartment.
She got inside and it was decorated very minimally, like every other place Lennon owns. She is not someone who finds these types of places cozy. This place screamed that she is not welcome there.
But she has no other way now.
One of the drawers under the small TV was open and she saw condom boxes. Combined with the reaction the security had for her, she didn’t have to think much to guess the purpose Lennon used this apartment for.
Sidney was lying, huh? But who is the secretary he was banging? Is it Jake?
There were two bedrooms and one of the bedrooms was locked. She figured that room must be Lennon’s room. She walked to the next room, and it was open. The room was unused and there was some dust. Rory found the vacuum and cleaned the room first.
After bathing and feeding Ellie, she changed. She didn’t feel comfortable taking a shower in someone else’s home.
She was hungry and decided to check the kitchen. There wasn’t much except for some teabags and coffee. There was some wine and whiskey. Other than that, there was nothing to eat there.
She heard a knock at the door, and she looked through the peephole. There was a delivery person with a bag. She received a call from Lennon, and she answered it.
He told her that he had ordered food for her, and the delivery person would be at the door by now. She thanked him happily as he read her mind and got her food right when she was hungry.
Lennon was pleased. And she got the food.
After some time, she received a call from Ian on her burner phone. She answered it.
"Rori... Where are you?" he asked.
"I’m in LA, in one of Lennon’s places," she said.
"Rori why don’t you~"
As he was speaking, the line disconnected. She stared at the phone for some time and then she realized something.
She placed Ellie in the carrycot and got down the lift after locking the apartment. She has some of her valuables there. She needed to keep them safe at all costs.
"Ma’am..."
She was blocked by the security guard as she was about to step out.
"The key..." he held out her hand. His phone was in his hand, and he shifted it to his other hand.
"But I’ll be back in ten minutes. I have to buy diapers for~"
"The keys, Ma’am. I’ll keep ’em safe." He insisted.
Rory stared at him not wanting to give the key to him. But he blocked her not allowing her to leave. Having no other way, Rory handed him the key.
"Do other women come here often?" She asked unable to curb her curiosity.
"Are you jealous?" He asked leaning at her.
Rory scoffed. "You are not very suited for this job. Did anyone tell you that?"
She would think that someone who hides the secret of some billionaire will have a much more aloof attitude. This guy wears his expression on his face like a fool. How would anyone trust him to keep their secrets?
"Nah, just you!" he smiled. A dimple formed on his cheeks, and he looked a little cute. He probably just finished high school or in his senior year. This probably is his part-time job. He looked very lively.
Rory chuckled and opened the glass door.
"Only one woman visits here often," the boy said. Rory stopped and looked at him to see if he says anything more. "His wife... she’d be here with another man..." he said the last part as a whisper. "They talk business."
Rory sighed shaking her head and walked out.
So, this is the story behind the condoms in the drawer? Heh! It’s a nice story. Everything comes together, doesn’t it?
Sidney said the man she was in contact with lived nearby and now she learns that the secret apartment Lennon had for his use was also used by Sidney without his knowledge for her "affair."
Interesting, isn’t it? How the story makes so much sense...
She walked to the pharmacy nearby as the security guard was staring at his phone. And his phone camera... It followed her.
She bought diapers and stepped out of the pharmacy just as a cab stopped in front of the pharmacy. She got inside the cab as soon as the passengers got down and asked the driver to drive.
Her instinct was to get to the cafe to meet Mia, but she drove to Mia’s mother. It was a very good neighborhood. There were CCTV cameras everywhere and the community is very tight-knit as everyone knew each other. Most of them were related in some way.
In a way, it was more similar to a small town in that aspect.
She knocked at Mia’s mother’s house. She feared that she won’t be accepted. Liam is talked about on every news channel these days and Mia would have told her mother that she is Liam’s wife.
Will she be accepted when she is the wife of an accused serial killer?
"Rory!" Mia’s mother hugged her like usual. And without saying much she pulled her inside the house. "People talk, you know," she said locking the door. "Mia had a fight with the neighbors yesterday after they flapped their tongue about your husband..."
"They know?" Rory sighed. She knew that they would know. She has visited their home at times and the neighbors know her. And her face is getting blasted on every news channel these days.
"Come on in..." Bernice led Rory to the living room.
Rory saw the news was on. It was a national channel and she saw Laura Brown’s mother standing in front of the building where Liam is getting interrogated. With tearful eyes, she was pleading that the killer of her daughter should be brought to justice. She was convinced that Liam is the killer.
Rory’s palm went cold.
Bernice turned off the TV. "This woman... She now successfully brought national attention to this case...I understand her. She lost her only daughter and~"
"But she is lying. She does not know anything!" Rory said.
She cannot believe that the national media now picked up the story. It is going to get much harder.
And if Mia’s mother is sympathizing with Laura Brown’s mother... Then...
