The Secret Obsession of the CEO
Chapter 149: Good Ones

Chapter 149: Good Ones

There wasn’t much light around in that place except for the light inside the aircraft. And yet, she recognized the tall guy with dark hair. He stepped out and was about to carry a big suitcase.

"Jake?" Rory raised her brows.

What is Liam’s personal assistant doing here? Did he come here to pick me up or is he leaving here?

Judging by the luggage he is loading, he must have been here. But why was he here?

Rory found his presence odd. Liam had told her that Jake is a diagnosed psychopath and that only made her doubts double.

She even wondered if she should not take the flight.

Bobby turned to look at her as if he thought of something. When Rory looked at him thinking that he had something to say, he pressed his lips and walked to the front with her luggage. Rory had to run to catch up with him.

"Need help?" Bobby asked Jake as he struggled to pick up that suitcase.

Jake calmly shrugged. "No, I’ll..."

Before Jake finished though, Bobby picked one side of the suitcase, still holding Rory’s luggage in his other hand. Both Jake and Bobby then proceeded to load the luggage at the back of the plane.

"Rory!"

Rory’s eyes ended up at the stairs hearing that familiar voice.

"Uncle Lenny?" she was astonished. He was wearing his usual tailored suit and a brooch made a small jingle as he stepped on the stairs. After everything that went on in the day, he could turn himself to his usual self like this.

She was ashamed of herself. She was in her grey sweatshirt and pants. And in the commotion caused by Spike, even that was dirty. And weeds were sticking to her. She left them because they are harmless.

But suddenly she was conscious of them.

She did not expect him there. But it makes sense. She hid her astonishment and smiled widely at him. "You’re traveling to LA too?"

"Yeah," he got down the stairs and walked to her. "You should have asked MY help, you know?" he glared at her.

Rory gulped. "You didn’t tell me that you were leaving today. I even offered you cake, uncle!" she glared back at him.

"Ah!" Lennon patted his chest. Every little movement of him reeked of elegance. That’s what made Liam so attracted to his uncle and he chose him as his role model. "You got me!" he chuckled.

Rory laughed along. Lennon got Ellie her hand and waited for her to get on the airplane, but Rory walked to Bobby.

She still hasn’t gotten the cash from him. She needs cash.

Jake and Bobby got down from the luggage holder at the tail of the aircraft and closed it. Jake looked at her probably because she was staring at him. She regretted ever having an attraction toward him.

But that’s how psychopaths are, right? Charming to the bones.

"So, you’re working for Uncle Lenny now," Rory said to Jake.

"Yes," Jake answered curtly. He didn’t bother to smile at her probably because he could read the disgust in her eyes. Before she could speak one more word, he slipped past her and got to Lennon.

"Ready a seat for the baby," Lennon said. His hand was gently resting on Ellie’s chest. Ellie was sleeping so deeply not even realizing that she is not with her mother.

Jake nodded and tried to get Ellie from his hands. But Lennon shook his head not wanting to give the baby to him. Jake with no change in expression went inside the aircraft.

Rory glared at him as she saw his head through the little openings of the windows. But then she turned her attention towards Bobby.

"I was told of this aircraft service provider when I learned that your uncle was looking for the same service too. You don’t mind traveling with him, right? I thought rather than traveling alone, you’d prefer company considering you have your baby with you," Bobby said. He looked apologetic.

"Oh, I don’t mind at all, Bobby," Rory lied through her teeth. In fact, she was extremely uncomfortable traveling with others. But she did not want Bobby to feel bad.

She hugged him. "Thank you so very much for your help, Bobby. I’ll never forget your help."

She meant every word of what she said. She thought she had no way to get to Liam, but Bobby helped her. Well, she was a little awkward that she didn’t bother to ask Lennon, but nonetheless, when she had no one to help or thought that she had no one, it was Bobby who offered her help.

"That’s..." Bobby patted her head. He was obviously choked.

Rory smiled at him.

"Visit us after everything passes, with your husband and child, Pony" Bobby said and passed her a card. "We are not very far from LA. My wife and I, and our neighbors would like to have a BBQ with you."

"For sure," Rory couldn’t read the card clearly in the dim light. But she could definitely say that it did not say, Robert Milroy.

Jeremy...? Jeremy Fitzgerald? Okay...

"It’s my neighbor and Boss... I don’t have a card. So, you can have his. His wife wants to meet you," Bobby said seeing her confusion.

"I definitely will," Rory smiled. She didn’t know that she is so lovely that Bobby found himself talking to everyone in his circle about her.

But she was touched. There are good people in this world. And they outnumber the evil ones.

But meeting Bobby’s wife... She could only imagine Liam’s reaction when he meets her in person. He’d die of shame.

"Here," Bobby pulled out a wad of cash from his pockets before she even asked for it.

"Thank you," Rory held out her hand to accept the cash.

But before she could get the cash, a hand blocked her.

"Rory, what is this about?" Lennon asked. His brows were furrowed, and he looked extremely displeased. His low rumble was almost fear-inducing.

"It’s... I asked Bobby for cash... My accounts...They’ve been frozen and~"

"Why didn’t you ask me? You should have come to me first, Rory," Lennon said.

Rory gulped and took a step back.
