Chapter 75: The Crown Prince

"Hello, your highness," Teo greeted her, "I guess you have yourself in quite a tight spot right now."

"I knew you were suspicious from the very beginning." Elys hissed at Teo as she tried to grapple Aleksander who was trying to wrestle her, "You set us up for death!"

"Pfft... what a funny scene we are looking at right now," the ocean blue-eyed man chuckled.

He looked down at Elys and Aleksander trying to get the upper hand on each other. The princess was struggling as Aleksander’s weight was almost twice of hers. Aside from that, his sharp nails were digging into her skin as well, leaving a trail of bloody marks all over her arms.

Elys didn’t have the time to respond to the man’s comment. Her attention was all focused on getting her husband off of her and maybe even put him to a deep slumber with a kick to the balls.

Aleksander had the princess pinned with her hands over her head. His legs were pinned on her thighs, restraining her from throwing a punch or kicking him. Elys was at a loss how he could still fight her even when his eyes were already blank from her earlier blow to his temple.

She moved her hips as much as she could, trying to get Aleksander off balance. She struggled with all her might, but the prince was like a boulder – stubborn and unmovable.

But luck has proved again that it was on the princess’ side. Aleksander mistakenly pushed his face too close to Elys. She immediately grabbed the chance and went off to bite his nose.

"Arrghh!!!" Aleksander howled in pain.

In the fraction of a second that Aleksander wallowed in his pain, Elys threw in a punch to his jaw, finally knocking Aleksander off of her. The princess scrambled off the ground, and without even thinking twice, kicked the prince in between his legs.

"!"

Aleksander’s vision finally blacked out, and within several seconds from being hit in the nuts, went limp and crashed to the ground.

"Who the fuck are you?" Elys said as she finally addressed the man that had been chuckling together with Teo.

She wheezed as she tried to catch her breath from the strenuous fight they had, all the while still not breaking eye contact with the new face that came with Teo.

They just watched her as the commotion and explosions continued within the palace halls, the Eastern guards and the vampires clashing.

"How impudent," Teo said as he squared his shoulders. "Show some respect to his highness, the Crown Prince Dominick."

"It is a pleasure to finally meet the woman who was... shall I say, fortunate enough to be wed to my bastard brother here," the crown prince smiled a toothy grin.

"I don’t share the same enthusiasm you sarcastically gave me," Elys found herself retorting.

Her eyes scanned the now empty throne room, glancing for a second towards the gigantic doors where Henry and Cordelia were supposedly standing awhile ago. They were gone now, but she noted how several of the knights that betrayed them were lying unconscious to the ground.

’They must have been able to escape,’ Elys thought. ’Cordelia is an adept warrior. She must have been chased by the others.’

She turned to the now fully unconscious bastard prince and thought of his loyal attendant. If Cordelia was kind enough, she would have probably protected Henry as well.

"Why are you zoning out, princess?" Prince Dominick’s voice whispered in her left ear.

Elys instantly jumped away from him. She didn’t realize he had stood behind her when he had been standing several feet away when she turned her attention away for a second.

"Agile and light on your feet," he commented, "Teo, this woman is really something peculiar. No wonder my father took a liking to her."

Teo smiled and bowed slightly to the crown prince’s remarks. "Truly she is," he added.

Suddenly, a combination of barks and howls resounded within the palace walls just outside. All three of them turned their heads to the source of the sound, each having a unique reaction as they saw the werewolves growling in anger.

"Alpha Iyoha?" Elys asked.

"Princess, you and your vampire friends have proved yet again that the Western Kingdom should never be trusted," the werewolf growled.

His eyes turned to the crown prince, and his fur rippling as his ears stuck up. He bared his fangs at Prince Dominick, conveying his deep hatred for the vampires that ruined the peace of their sanctuary.

"Jeez, such a savage you are little mutt," Prince Dominick cocked his head arrogantly.

"Come and fight me like a true man," the alpha said.

"How funny, you come to me asking such a thing but you brought a lot of your puppies with you," Prince Dominick said.

Elys scoffed at the snide remark the prince said. She glanced for a second over to Aleksander who had lain unconscious to the ground, and then back to the crown prince.

"My god, they are brothers," she muttered under her breath.

She couldn’t deny the similarities in the attitude of Aleksander and the Crown Prince Dominick. The prince started to walk in a circle as the werewolf alpha did so, their gazes never breaking.

Teo stood alert, keeping his eyes peeled for any slight movement from the other werewolves. Should they even think about attacking the crown prince to help their alpha, the vampire knight wouldn’t hesitate to attack them as well.

The knight was so focused with the werewolves who kept on snarling from a distance that he didn’t even notice Elys reaching for Aleksander’s sword.

She sneaked behind Teo, and with a swift movement, brought the blade to his neck as she whispered, "Don’t you even dare move a muscle. If you do, I will not hesitate to behead you."

Teo glanced behind him, and he saw Elys’ eyes burning with hatred.

She wasn’t playing around when she threatened him.

The princess was dead serious.
