The Royal Revenge
Chapter 76: Pity

Chapter 76: Pity

"Ah, princess," the vampire knight sighed, "it seems like you caught me off-guard."

Teo turned his head further to look at Elys’ face. He was fascinated how she could be so cold-hearted and ready to kill, and was curious with what expression she wore as she said those threatening words.

As much as the princess was a human, she somehow deserved a recognition as an honorary vampire as she shared the ruthlessness of most vampires did for their enemy.

He sneaked in a chuckle, to which the princess didn’t appreciate him doing.

"Shut up!" Elys said as she brought the sword closer to his neck, nicking him slightly, "Tell me your real intentions, Teo. Was this a ploy by the vampire king?"

The knight closed his eyes and let out a long sigh. He was silent for several seconds too long for comfort that Elys started to feel uneasy. What sinister plan was brewing inside his head?

The princess gripped the sword tighter, and then swiftly pulled it much closer to Teo’s throat.

"Speak, Teo," she slowly put pressure on the blade as it dug into his throat’s thin skin, "If not, I will just have to kill you since you are useless."

"You won’t be able to kill me," Teo snickered.

He opened his eyes, and through the other side of the throne room, he could see the crown prince and the werewolf battling in inhumane speed. The other werewolves were on standby, all the while the commotion outside wasn’t subsiding.

"Why do you think I wouldn’t be? You don’t know me as much as you think you do," Elys hissed, "I can kill you, and I will if I must. Now tell me what you goal here is!"

The princess wanted to know exactly the extent of their attack towards the Eastern Kingdom. She felt agitated and concerned that the Western Kingdom was expanding yet again. They already conquered her homeland.

If she had the means to stop it from happening, the princess swore she would do everything she could to stop them. She had a weapon in her hand now, and she wasn’t going to hesitate to bring the vampires down if she must.

The vampire knight chuckled as he heard Princess Elysianne’s demands.

"Princess, this thing is inevitable," Teo spoke softly, his eyes still focused on the crown prince as he left a blow to the stomach to the werewolf alpha.

The force of the Crown Prince’s punch coupled with his immense strength-enhancing magic threw the Iyoha flying, breaking several wooden pillars on the way. He ultimately slammed into the moss-covered walls, sending tiny bugs and other insects crawling for safety.

The alpha coughed out blood, wheezing with the intense blow he received from the vampire.

"HA HA HA HA!" Prince Dominick laughed on the other side of the throne room.

Dominick walked smugly, each step he took showing he was the stronger of the two of them. The other werewolves snarled and went to attack the prince, and the vampire retaliated with picking up a huge piece of the destroyed pillar and smashed them with one swing.

All of them let out a chorus of painful whimpers with the impact of the pillar to their bodies. Unable to control their bodies in midair, the werewolves flew over where Aleksander had lain on the floor, crushing the bastard prince as they dogpiled on him.

The alpha pushed himself up, stopping the silver furred she-wolf that separated from the pack to rush over and help him.

He let out a low guttural growl, his eyes bloodshot with bursting rage. His fangs and claws bared and in a matter of a blink of an eye, kicked his legs lounging for the crown prince.

"The Queen Zephyrine has seen this happening, and the Western Kingdom never ever dismissed her visions as hoax," Teo continued as the werewolf and vampire clashed.

"What do you mean she has seen this happening? An invasion?" Elys asked.

"The Western Kingdom’s expansion into a vast empire," Teo said as he slowly lifted his hands up as if to announce the grand plan. "And at the heart of it, a prince that would bring the vampire kingdom to new heights."

Elys furrowed her brows, knitting them together in an attempt to internalize the things Teo were telling her.

"And that prince is the Crown Prince Dominick, you say?" she pointed out.

"Of course it is," Teo replied, "why would you even think the bastard prince was the one who the Queen Zephyrine had seen? Your husband will never be someone as great as the crown prince."

The corners of Elys’ mouth lifted into a sardonic grin, "So, your true colors have now finally shown."

"I prefer to think that I just hid parts of me that I didn’t want people to see when it wasn’t needed," Teo explained himself.

The princess scoffed, "Lies."

"I did like you, your highness. Despite hailing from the lowest of slaves, you had an unbreakable spirit," he paused, "or should I say, burning hatred that made you stronger than the rest that wallowed in their poor state."

"You make me blush," she said, scrunching her nose as her words spilled with oozing sarcasm, "but I am not asking for your compliments."

Teo smiled, amused of the princess’ stubborn and no-shit personality. In truth he could actually just use magic and free himself from the sword she had to his throat, but Teo actually really liked her to the point he didn’t mind.

He was far too confident in himself to detect the slightest of movement she would make, and escape just in the nick of time, zapping himself far from her.

"You know princess," Teo glanced at her through the corner of his eyes, "if you would want, I could help you out of this hellhole. King Raxus wanted to get rid of Prince Aleksander, but he didn’t really mention you shouldn’t survive as well."

Elys’ hands shook in disbelief.

Somehow, she couldn’t help but feel pity for her husband.
