Chapter 229: Arguing

Chapter 229: Arguing

"Wow, then you say that you are so full of pride that you can’t even see the advantage of what I am offering you?" Aleksander said through gritted teeth.

The burning sensation had now spread into Aleksander’s entire torso. It was not something he would say was tolerable, but he must save his face no matter what. He was never the type to show his emotions, especially when he knew it was going to embarrass him.

"What advantage would gold and other material things could ever bring us?" Queen Euphemia said, "our kingdom is already rich."

The vampire king only rolled his eyes and said, "Yeah, convince yourself that."

"It is the truth, vampire," Sir Noa insisted as he pushed the young Eastern Queen backwards. "The Eastern Kingdom has sustained itself for so long because we are naturally gifted by the earth. Unlike your barren land which still needs slaves to cultivate whatever scrappy soil you have, ours need not to be."

The young king’s brows shot upwards. His golden eyes glanced at the Eastern Queen behind her trusted adviser and soon enough, Aleksander’s laughter started to rise in the air.

The volume of his laughs turned louder, echoing inside the large chamber where he and his wife were taken hostage. Queen Euphemia and Sir Noa watched him as his sarcastic laughter continued to reverberate around them.

"HA HA HA HA HA!" Aleksander cried while he laughed maniacally. "Dear goodness, he doesn’t know!"

Sir Noa was visibly taken aback by what the vampire king commented upon.

He was sure that Aleksander wasn’t pertaining to anyone else in the room, as aside from him, Sir Noa was the only man who was present. But why did he say such a thing?

Was there something that he was missing?

"What do you mean that I don’t know?" the Eastern adviser asked him, "Vampire, if you dare to even lie to me, I swear I will end you using the most painful ways possible."

The crazy glint in Aleksander’s eyes was not going away. He looked at Sir Noa straight in the eyes. And then, after several seconds of a prolonged staring fight, the vampire king slowly winked at him.

Even Elys who was enduring the same pain as her husband suddenly found herself wondering what he was talking about.

"What do you mean he doesn’t know, husband?" Elys whispered through the pain of her burning flesh.

’Fuck, this liquid is such a pain in the ass, both figuratively and literally,’ she suddenly thought to herself.

The liquid had now flowed from her shoulder blades and down her back, slipping through the middle of her buttocks. She was soaking from the burning liquid, but just like her husband, she was enduring the scalding sensations as much as she could.

Not until they could find a way out of the entrapment that they were in. She tried to summon magic through her hands, but she could not feel anything from it still.

It seemed like she needed to find some other way.

"He is only toying with you, Noa," the Eastern Queen said as her brows formed a taut bridge at the top of her nose bridge. "You have to remember... we can never trust a vampire – not ever!"

"Right, we can never trust a vampire," Sir Noa agreed right off the beat.

Aleksander could only scoff as he listened in on each of their conversations and back and forth of ideas.

"Well, that is your call, Noa," Aleksander said, "I can call you Noa, right? I just decided I should drop the titles since we both know I am the oldest in this group. Plus, I don’t really respect you, or any of you high ranking officials of a nearly ruined kingdom."

At the mention of the kingdom’s real problem, Aleksander stopped to witness the mayhem he might raise. He had been careful not to provoke them too much, as he was actually aiming for something else entirely.

"But what if what he said was true...?" Sir Noa contemplated, and then turned towards his queen, "My queen, what am I truly missing?"

The last sentence that Sir Noa asked was something he could only murmur under his breath. His voice was barely audible. The only consolation to it was that the Eastern Queen was close to him, so she had most certainly have heard his question.

"Y-you shouldn’t believe what that vampire king is spouting, Noa," Queen Euphemia stuttered. "Why would you even consider his words as something you should believe in? He is the enemy! He killed our men and women, their companion animals! Destroyed our kingdom at that!"

Elys and Aleksander could only watch in amusement as the Eastern Queen and her trusted adviser started to debate.

"My queen..."

Elysianne turned tried to turn her head, yet she was reminded that she couldn’t do anything with how she was strapped from head to toe.

"Aleksander?" Elys whispered back at her husband, "What is it?"

While the Eastern Queen and her adviser were busy arguing with each other, Aleksander had been secretly trying to pick the straps that had bound his wrists.

It was not a simple feat, as he had pushed the limits of his bones trying to bend his hand to the point where he could reach the straps with his sharp fingernails.

The straps were now finally on their very last fiber until it was completely cut off. One last scratch of his sharp fingernail completely took one of his hands off of their restraints.

"Keep calm," Aleksander instructed Elys.

Elys was skeptical as to what he meant by saying she should keep calm. Since she couldn’t turn her head to watch what he was doing, Elys could only imagine the things Aleksander could do when he was strapped quite snugly like she was.

The young queen didn’t know that her husband had already succeeded in freeing himself on one side.

Quickly doing away with the other wrist’s straps, Aleksander grabbed for the strap and forcefully yanked it off of their places. With both hands, the vampire king reached for the strap on his head and like what he did with the other wrist, yanked the strap out of his head.

"What the hell are you thinking, Noa? Of course, the kingdom is safe and flourishing," Queen Euphemia’s voice rose to a high pitch scream. "If you have eyes, then that is the most wonderful thing to use so you could see what I was talking about all throughout the kingdom."

"Aleksander, what were you saying?" Elys whispered again to her husband, "My king?"

She could see the commotion that was happening as Sir Noa continued to ask Queen Euphemia about what the Western King was talking about.

Out of coincidence, Sir Noa had turned his head and somewhat turned to stone. He didn’t budge, nor did he respond to his queen’s previous arguments about the fact that their kingdom was slowly being eaten underwater – well, perhaps the ceiling too.

Although it was quite amusing to be able to see them in utter disarray, Elys had a lot of things to worry about. Like perhaps how to get out of the straps that she was being tied down to.

Before she could even try to think of another way to get out of her straps, Elys felt a cold hand reach for her wrists. It glided through her skin for a moment, and then went off to grab the straps that had bounded her hands.

With one swift yank, Aleksander was able to rip the straps like they were merely paper. Elys’ eyes widened as her husband’s cocky grin came into her view, and then he said, "Hi there, my damsel who isn’t entirely much in distress. May I do the honor of saving you?"

Elys could only grin as she returned his smile.

"With pleasure," she replied.

Raising his hand up in the air, Aleksander brought them back down in mere seconds as he slashed through the thick straps. Elys was quick on her feet as she landed with extreme care as not to cause the two to notice she had already escaped.

"Hey!" Queen Euphemia called out to them as she saw the vampire king try to give Elys a kiss.

The kiss which had been an almost, left a strong impression on Elys. She wanted to get more from her husband, and yet the situation they were in now called for them to be serious.

With Queen Euphemia abducting them, the West and the East were officially at war now.

Elys now had another addition of people to hate in the Eastern Kingdom.

Aleksander’s attention was now targeted to the Eastern Queen. Sir Noa was still frozen still, whereas Queen Euphemia was looking at them with incredible intensity. Elys gloated at the look of her face.

She turned to her husband and right at that moment she noticed that one thing was for sure – the Eastern Kingdom would see who they were up against.
