Chapter 215: One Step Closer to Doom

Chapter 215: One Step Closer to Doom

Henry’s lips trembled as he was cornered into a situation that he didn’t want to take part of. The young queen has gone mad! Why was she asking him about his master’s weakness?

Of all the people that she had to ask, why did it have to be him?

"Your majesty, why do you want to know?" Henry asked.

The old man tried to stay calm but his knees were madly shaking. Anytime now he could feel them buckling. Eventually, he knew all the strength in them were sure to leave him at the most inconvenient moment.

"You shouldn’t ask anything, Henry," Elys replied to his question, "all you need to do is to answer me – and don’t you even think of lying."

"I – I..." Henry stuttered.

He couldn’t understand where he should even begin.

"Did I also say that I don’t appreciate you taking too long to answer such a simple query?" the human queen asked him sarcastically.

"Your majesty, you should know where my loyalty lies," Henry spoke, this time around with more confidence – well, as confident as a man with shaking knees could even express.

"I know where it lies, Henry," Elys heaved an annoyed sigh, "I won’t even try to argue with you about that. But would it be too difficult to understand that I don’t care as well?"

Elysianne took a step closer towards the old attendant and in turn, Henry took a step back. They danced like this until Henry couldn’t step back any further.

He whipped his head back and saw that this time around, he was literally cornered in his own room. Elys raised her brow and tapped an impatient finger on her folded arms.

"Spill, old man, or your blood will spill instead," she coldly threatened him.

Her eyes were blazing rubies, but the coldness in her sharp tongue was enough to make Henry shiver.

"I don’t know, Queen Elysianne," Henry finally said, "I don’t know what his weakness is aside from the fact that he hated his father to the core."

Elys frowned with what she learned from Henry.

She already knew of Aleksander’s hatred against his father, and the rest of the kingdom and its constituents who had looked down on him. She needed something more than just that.

The young queen wanted to know a weakness of him that could potentially cripple him if she used it correctly against him.

"Don’t fucking play dumb with me, Henry," Elys snarled at the old man.

The loyal attendant gulped a big wad of saliva that got stuck to his throat.

Not only was he cornered to the point he couldn’t move an inch, Elys had even pinned him by his shoulder, her hand pushing hard that Henry started to get numb.

"Your majesty, I can’t answer you like this," Henry tried to stall.

The old attendant’s eyes glanced at his trusty pocket watch. He had put it on the side table beside his bed, the clock open and ticking.

It was almost time that Aleksander should be back. Just a few minutes and his master should be able to come to his rescue.

Henry just needed to stall and distract the queen.

"You can answer me, Henry," Elys said as her grip on his shoulder tightened even more, crushing him with her bare hand.

A sharp pain bolted around Henry’s arm and he couldn’t help but to scream in pain. Why did she want to know her husband’s weakness anyway? Henry didn’t feel like it was right to tell her even if he knew what Aleksander’s true weakness was.

His loyalty was with the Western Kingdom’s King.

Even if he had been so obsessed with giving Elys everything she wanted, Henry knew there were boundaries where the human wife shouldn’t cross.

"Spill, Henry!" Elys yelled at him.

The old attendant closed his eyes and suddenly, he heard a loud blast come from behind Elys. Her ladies in waiting’s screams accompanied the blast, and Henry opened his eyes to see a familiar figure looming over where his door once was.

"What the hell are you doing to my attendant, wife?" Aleksander snarled.

Elys didn’t turn her head at the voice that called out to her. Her eyes bore into Henry’s, furious and even more frustrated that she couldn’t get anything from the old man.

She was going to remember this forever, how Henry denied to give her what she had asked for.

"You are useless," Elys spat at the old man.

She pushed him towards the wall and Elys made a sharp turn towards the door. She didn’t even make eye contact with Aleksander as she came closer and closer to him.

By the time that she was right in front of her husband, Elys merely looked over his shoulder and spoke to Henry instead.

"Henry, tell your master to move out of the door," she asked him.

She didn’t even shed a single ounce of kindness in her request. Henry felt quite offended. How could she even ask him that when she had just threatened him with her killer grasp?

"You should stop this childish act, Elys," Aleksander said.

The young queen held her head high and didn’t even respond to Aleksander’s words.

"Your majesty, might you kindly let the Queen pass?" Lady Beatrice asked Aleksander.

Elys raised a brow at the lady in waiting’s bravery to even speak to Aleksander directly in the situation they were in. She had to commend her spirit, and her confidence as well.

Not many would want to make themselves easy target for the vampire king when he was angry.

Perhaps Elys should reconsider making further arrangements regarding Lady Beatrice as what she had learned from her other lady in waiting, Lady Azalea Igniss.

"Stay out of this, Lady Beatrice," Aleksander said as his eyes looked down coldly upon Elys.

He didn’t take away his attention from his wife even just for a second to address the person he talked to. The noble vampire behind him cleared her throat instead, but Lady Beatrice still stood tall and proud despite the disrespect that Aleksander showed her.

As a vampire that served the palace, she knew that she must swallow her pride at times and just endure it all.

However, it did not mean she liked it at all.

"Elysianne, you and I need to talk," Aleksander said.

Without even waiting for his stubborn wife’s response, Aleksander swooped down and took Elys off of her feet. He flipped her easily like she was some cattle off to be sold to an auction, and Aleksander marched off towards their shared chambers.

"Put me down, you monster!" Elys thrashed.

She made every effort to make it difficult for Aleksander to carry her. She reached out to every exposed part of his body where she could scratch him with her sharply shaped nails.

"Oh, now you address me? And to think you even called your own husband a monster," Aleksander scoffed.

Lady Azalea and Lady Beatrice could only follow behind them with confusion in their eyes. They were at a loss at what to do, not to mention that the two of them didn’t really work well together too.

Azalea was convinced that Beatrice was a two-faced bitch with whom the vampire clergy has sent to spy on the young queen and king’s activities. Beatrice on the other hand just didn’t like Azalea in the first place.

It was a mutual feeling of hatred for each other.

"What are you two doing?" Elys hissed at her ladies in waiting.

Even before Lady Azalea and Lady Beatrice could open their mouths, Aleksander cut them off by saying, "I will have you two killed if you even try to interfere. Go back to the Queen’s chambers and do what you usually do without her. Your Queen won’t be back until tomorrow."

The two were forced to shut their mouths as the vampire king made his pace faster.

Elys didn’t stop struggling as she kicked her feet and punched Aleksander all the while he walked like it didn’t bother him. She was strong like a bear, but her husband was as hard as a stone.

He was like a boulder that she couldn’t push no matter how hard she tried or how much force she would use.

It wasn’t that Elys was weak or anything. Heck, she was a whole lot stronger than any noble vampire at that.

"Put me down!!!" Elys shrieked at the top of her lungs. "I don’t want to speak with you!"

Aleksander merely let her screams pass through his ears. He had enough of her childish antics.

Despite his wish to let her do as she pleased, it was getting way too inconvenient especially when he knew that they should really be talking things out as soon as possible.

There was an upcoming war that was looming by the borders of their kingdom. If he and his queen wouldn’t come together and join forces, the Western Kingdom’s doom was one step closer for sure.
