Lai sat down meekly on the very clean sofa and glanced at the kitchen. The pair of new brothers were talking and chatting with bright smiles on their faces. Seeing Joo Haolei smiling like that Lai got shivers down his spine. ’Who is he? Did he get possessed too? he cleans? He cooks and he smiles like that? Fucking hell. Is there something wrong with him or something wrong with the people around me....’ He scratched his head in confusion.

Haolei came out of the kitchen and gently tapped his forehead. "You look ugly with those wrinkles."

"Yah!" Lai hit his shoulders.

Scoffing Haolei sat opposite him. "so, tell me what happened with your girlfriend? She tossed you out on the curb. If you want a place to stay you can gladly stay with us. But you might have to sleep on the ground. You see the sofa is being occupied." Haolei raised a brow condescendingly at him.

Lai’s eyebrows twitched. ’Nah this guy didn’t change one bit. He is that fucking asshole I knew for years.’ thinking of this he couldn’t help but think of Ruelle. a loud sigh escaped his body. Leaning down, he heard his aching forehead. "You’re letting your new brother sleep on the sofa out here in the cold. Rude..."

"You think I’m crazy? He will sleep on the bed. I’ll take the couch." Haolei glanced back at the young boy who was making coffee. Jung Shi’s condition changed drastically after he suggested the adoption. He had become a cheerful young man filled with smiles and cuteness.

"God, you act like a lovestruck fool. Are you sure you are not in love with him,"

Haolei immediately slapped his head. "he is my brother. And only that. Don’t you dare tarnish our pure relationship you bastard?"

Grunting, Lai glared up at him. "Fuck you.... I’m already in pain now you are hitting me..."

"Heartbreak is not a real pain."

Lai Tsu glared at him intensely. this guy had never been in love and never had a heartbreak. From since young age, women flocked around him but this guy had coolly given them and smile and say no. "what does a guy who has no relationship know of love and heartbroken? You fucking virgin."

"I’m proud to be a virgin. What Is wrong with that?"

By then Jung Shi walked out of the kitchen with two mugs of coffee.

Smiling Haolei took it from him. "Sit here. why are you serving this guy? he knows where the coffee is he can make it himself."

He pulled Jung down onto the side sofa.

"it’s okay. He seems heartbroken..." eric looked at the guy named Lai. The first time he saw him he was stunned. Why you ask? the guy had residual traces of black energy surrounding him. "Brother Lai you said your girlfriend has been acting weird? Ca you tell me in detail what happened?"

Lai looked at him blankly.

"Just tell him dude. My brother can do miracles." Haolei nudged him

Sighing, Lai opened his mouth. "it’s been just a few days. Four or three days maybe. We had a lovely night and the next morning she walked out. It has never happened before. Ruelle loves cuddles and she loves sleeping in. I have never seen her wake up before the sun. But that day she got up and left by five or four am. At first, I thought she was upset.... so I waited.... She never returned to our apartment."

Lai Tsu’s lisp trembled slightly. He looked like he had to hold back his tears.

Eric felt pity for him. He reached out and held his coarse hands. But all of a sudden, he felt that coldness invade his body. he quickly let go of his hands. The dark energy around Lai seemed to have reduced in intensity.

Clearing his throat eric acted as if nothing happened. "did you talk to her after that?" while talking he subtly checked his own body. Nothing seemed to be different than before.

"I tried calling he and even texted her but she did not answer so I... I tracked her." He said with a slightly guilty look on his face.

"don’t tell me you didn’t used your police id to track her?" Haolei glared at him.

Lai lowered his head even more. "I know it’s wrong. But I was worried. You know who her family is. They would fucking do anything they want. I just wanted to make sure she was safe"

"Even so its risky man! you could have at least filled a missing person report before doing that," Haolei gently kicked his friend’s shin.

Lai pouted even more. "Sorry don’t tell anyone."

"Fuck as if I talk to others,"

Eric intervened in their small dispute. "so, what happened then?"

Lai took a deep breath. "I met her in a hospital... she seemed different. Ruelle is a simple girl. since the day we met, when she we were both fourteen, she had always liked wearing loosely fitted clothes and baggy shorts. She was kind of a tomboy. I feel for because of it."

"ahem, you are deviating from the questions." Haolei dully glared at him.

"so... she came out of the hospital looking all happy wearing a skin-tight dress and awful makeup. She looked like she was in her thirties, man. it totally did not suit her,"

"Ahem!!" Haolei raised a brow.

"Fine I’ll get to the point. She was wearing a different style of clothes and had a totally different personality. When I asked her why she was not talking to me, she said that she has found a perfect guy and that she was going to marry him..." Lai fully slumped down hiding his face between his knees. His voice came out in a whimper.

"I saw the news... she really is going to get engaged. That to with a fucking invalid. He is bedridden, man. her family is plotting something with her. But why is she so compliant? My Ruelle will never follow their rules. Even when they threatened to take our lives, she was adamant on not going back to that family. So why now... why did she just give in... that too she looked so happy..."

Haolei gently patted his shoulders. "Shall I try talking to sister.

"don’t.... if... if she wants to, I will leave her alone... but she even tried to kill me." He raised his head. His tear-filled face was all scrunched up looking like a squeezed sponge. "She is not right. I think she is possessed."

For a second eric could not hold back his laugh. Coughing he pretended to look away.

Haolei openly laughed at his face. "God, you look so ugly right now."

"Fuck you, man. I’m seriously crying my heart out to you."

Haolei cheerfully patted his shoulders hard. "I get it. so, what are going to do about it."

Lai Tsu sniffled wiping the tears off his face. "I want to confirm it first. Maybe... after that, I will hire a priest or an exorcist of some kind."

Haolei glanced at eric.

Eric looked up at him. For now, they decided not to reveal his secret about seeing ghosts to anyone else. It was their own secret. But helping a friend in need is important too.

"Can you take me to your girlfriend? Maybe I can take a look at her."

Eric first needed to confirm if that girl really was possessed. From the black traces around Lai it was pretty apparent that he had come in contact with something ominous. Only the dead and evil spirits have that black yin energy. He had seen a lot of those black specks in that guy’s garden. Even now the ghost boy behind him had that black traces around him but it was not that strong.

"You want to have a look at her? Why?"

"Just take him with you tomorrow. and where is that news you were talking about. who is she betrothed to."

Lai silently held up his phone. The article was already open.

Reading that new Haolei’s eyes narrowed. he handed it to eric.

Confusedly eric looked at it. but reading the title he froze.

"Pearl hospital. D-didn’t you used to call me brother? Why did that go away..." he looked at Haolei.

Haolei just shrugged.

Eric was fucking furious. He pranced around like a caged beast. "This marriage cannot happen. Brother Lai I will help you get your girl and in turn, I will get my guy."

"What was that?" Haolei smiled weirdly. "Y-Your guy?"

"Yeah, Bai Yuri is my boyfriend."

"B-boyfriend?" Haolei deep breath. "Boyfriend? You’re... only fifteen. A child... its not proper to have a relationship at such a young..."

"I don’t care. your friend dated his girlfriend since fourteen years old what does that say about him? besides Bai Yuri is my husband in my last life and he will be in this life too! And those fuckers are also after him. Who else can protect me if not me?"
