Chapter 207: Chapter 207 - Chattering ladies
Eric and Haolei reached the city by mid-evening. They drove through the busy roads and into China city.
Eric looked around curiously. the culture here was too vibrant. There were so many street stalls selling different food. He wanted to try them all but seeing the numerous ghosts walking around he held back that impulse.
"let’s get you settled down and we shall go out and have some fun with your new uncle Lai," he gently touched Eric’s head.
Eric hesitantly shook his head. he was still not used to the thought of seeing ghosts. The ghost boy was okay but what if one of the ghosts learn that he can see them and tried to cling to him? if they did it would disrupt his daily life...’
he thought of all of this and decided to just stay indoors as much as he could
’after I find Bai ill just let him buy us an apartment and ill just come a lazy bum,’ he thought with a sigh. It’s been a while since he had talked to his lover because every time he tried to connect with Bai Haolei found out. He would start panicking looking at his brother’s state.
In order not to give his brother a heart attack, Eric had to put a pause on their commutation.
’He must be worried sick...’ he pouted. His hands blindly searched through the bag on his lap and touched the lifesaving crystal. "Brother did you talk to the Bai family?"
"I talked to his assistant. He is not telling me anything about Bai Yuri. I’m sorry Jung," Haolei cast him an apologetic smile.
"Its fine. I’ll try to find him one way or another,’ he had a ghost boy with him and plus he was a mythical cultivator. If he cultivated probably, maybe he might be able to use some of the skills he saw in that book to find Bai Yuri.
The car came to a stop in front of a posh-looking apartment complex. It was in a silent street with only a few old people roaming around here and there. they too were wearing stylish clothes and were carrying colorful bags.
As soon as Haolei came out of the driver’s seat a few grandmas flocked around him. "Haohao, you’re back oh thank god. I thought you would stay back home forever. Are you free next Monday? You must be. My granddaughter is back home," one grandma dressed top to bottom in designer clothes said to Haolei.
Haolei smiled at her playfully. "Nona, is this your third granddaughter or your second?
"Second."
"I already met her. Did you forget that. I think she poured wine down my shirt."
The grand pouted ad slapped his forearm. "Leave that girl be. she doesn’t know your charms. How about this? my friend’s daughter also has a granddaughter. maybe I can set you up with her,"
"As of now I’m not thinking of finding a lover now," Haolei hugged her softly. "Besides I have a new member of my family that I wish for you guys to meet." He gestured for Eric to come close.
He slowly walked under the scrutinizing gaze of the old ladies. They looked him up and down.
Suddenly, the old lady named Nona lit up with a bright grin. "You have been hiding your brother from us all along! Oh my god, he is a small version of hao. Come here child come to Nona. Let me give you a hug," she gently held him.
The calming scent of makeup and a subtle scent of perfume entered Eric’s nostrils. The older woman was shorter than him with her head only coming up to his chin. It was like hugging a small little doll.
Nona looked up with a kind smile. "What is your name child?"
"it’s Jung shi,"
"it’s Joo Jung shi," Haolei added from behind.
Smirking Eric corrected his mistake. "its Joo Jung Shi."
"oh, what a pretty name. who dressed you up child?"
Eric confusedly looked up at Haolei.
Haolei vigorously gestured for him to not tell her.
"Haohao, did you dress him up," Nona glared back at him. "Your taste is horrendous. What is this baggy thing hanging off his shoulders. this boy has the making of a model. You have destroyed his image with your ugly clothes," she sighed, shaking her head disapprovingly.
"Nona that is a nice shirt. what is wrong with that?"
"its black. He suits cheerful colors like blue or pink or white. Not black. Tsk I used to wonder why you still didn’t have a girlfriend but now know. Your sense fashion is the only thing holding you back."
Haolei looked completely destroyed by that roast. he pouted cutely. "you’re so mean Nona..."
The grandma Nona gently patted Eric’s cheeks. "don’t worry child I will help you choose your clothes. come with me tomorrow we shall go shopping. Girls what do you say? this boy deserves a makeover?"
"Oh, a makeover~" eth old ladies all stared to excitedly squealed.
Eric knew right then that he had fallen into a trap. he gazed at Haolei for help.
But Haolei just shook his head and mouthed. "you sleep in the pit you dug."
’Brother! This is betrayal! Hey...’ he desperately tried to communicate with his eyes.
Haolei just mouthed for him to enjoy his day tomorrow and went to bring their luggage in. "our apartment is in the third floor, 302. Come on up after you are done. Ladies take good care of my brother,"
"Gladly," Nona giggled hugging Eric’s arm.
The old ladies were excitedly talking around him about where to take him shopping. Eric was left behind by his brother in the middle of the street.
After chatting his ears off for a long time, the ladies finally let go of him.
Eric rushed up to the floor into the house where his brother was cooking dinner. "That was a betrayal."
"That was saving one’s ass. every time the ladies look at me the mock my fashion sense and would drag me shopping at least now they found a new target to torture." Haolei chuckled. "but they don’t mean any harm." He chuckled handing him a plate of freshly cooked scrambled eggs sausage and a bit of harsh brown.
The tantalizing smell made Eric forget everything about his previous disagreement. He sat down on eth chair. "I’m digging in~"
"Do those ladies live here?"
Haolei nodded, humming softly. "don’t just look at their appearance and misjudge them. Each and every one of those ladies is a millionaire or billionaire. But they all are like a sorority. They lost their husbands and only have grandchildren and children who live in different states. they joined hands and bought this house."
He let out a soft chuckle. "They lowered the rent because I was handsome. An eye candy they called me. But don’t take their weird action to heart. they are the sweetest people in the world. Being far from my grandmother these ladies were like my family. They took care of me when I was sick and when I was sad. Technically they made it less lonely,"
Eric brought over the empty plate and hugged him. "Now that’s my job. I’ll take care of you when you are sick and make sure that you never get sad."
"Thank you, my dear brother ~"

Lai came around by ten at night to pick up Haolei. Walking up the stairs he met the few of the ladies sitting on the stairs chatting with each other. "Ladies,’
"oh, its Lai, why do you look so glum child?" Nona whispered with a frown.
"I’m going through something." He stepped past them up the stairs but paused. "Do you ladies happen to know of a priest, someone who can exorcist a ghost?"
"Ghost?" Nona raised her brow. "What kind of trouble did you run into my child?"
"is not me...it’s my friend... forget it. ill figure it out," rushed up before Nona could even say anything.
The old lady glanced up with a small pout. "I was about to give him a number of my favorite priest but it looks like he prefers to run away from his problems." Shaking her head she continued having a good chat with her girlfriends.
Lai Tsu knocked on Haolei’s door.
The door opened and in stood a young boy who was about fifteen years old. the last he had seen him his face was covered in blood and the boy was unconscious. But now that he had cleaned up he was finally able to get a good look at him.
The young boy had straight black hair that came down to his shoulders. his eyes were slightly upturned and almond shape giving him an innocent look.
he looked like a carbon copy of Haolei!
the boy was looking up at him curiously with his pink lips pouting.
"You must be Jung shi?"
"Yeah, you must be brother Lai?"
"hmm.."
The boy moved away giving him way in.
Lai walked into the clean and pristine house. His friend was known to be a slouch, he would rarely clean up after himself.
"You did a great job kid, this place looks awesome."
"huh?" Jung raised a brow.
"don’t you clean up after him?"
"no this place was already clean like this. my brother was meticulously arranging everything. He is such an organized person~" the boy smirked and walked into the kitchen leaving a stunned Lai behind.
’organized? Haolei? These two words do not go together!’
